      @mswink1 Před 3 lety

      I would also like to know the answer to Broxin'e question. I have a 24v setup like his 1st example which is normally charged by a 24v solar array. I was thinking that if I wanted to top off the batteries with my 12v battery chargers (I have 2 of the exact same model), it might be easier to charge them if they were hooked up like example #2. Am I correct in thinking that I could charge both 12v parallel battery banks at the same time using the 2 chargers and maybe not even have to disconnect the parallel connection between the battery banks? Right now when I've topped them off, I break the parallel connection between the battery banks (so as not to create an imbalance), charge both 12v batteries in 1 series bank at the same time, then charge the other series bank then re-establish the parallel connection. Thanks in advance!

      immrnoidall we don’t think you will be able to do that, you can probably charge and monitor the 2 x 24V banks. If balancing and monitoring is a concern, due to multiple heavy cycles, our recommendation is to use larger capacity 6 volt batteries that are all connected in series, this eliminates the battery imbalance and multiple parallel string issues.

    • @CanadianEnergy
      @CanadianEnergy  Před rokem

      Without know what inverter or what batteries you are using, we can only hazard a guess that you have 12V inverters and you've put 12V batteries in series to get 64V into them. That would likely be why they don't work. If you put your batteries in parallel, you would be keeping the voltage to 12V.
      We would need to get far more information than what you've provided to be absolutely sure, but our strong recommendation is that you engage a professional solar installer to help you with your installation. It's far cheaper to hire an expert than to continue to replace expensive power electronics.

  • @johnjacobjinglehimerschmid3555

    Ok so given an qty of batteries hooked to say a solar array system. What is the best way to wire up that bank of batteries.
    For instance if I had say 12 batteries in a bank.
    Would it be best to wire the batteries in series in sets of 4 and then wire the 3 banks in parallel.
    Or would it be best to make it 4 banks of 3 ( wired in parallel ) then connected in series?
    How does parallel vs series affect the batteries when being discharged or being charged.
    My question comes from this video: czcams.com/video/Rh9eEw-W3Lc/video.html
    Where someone, with supposed experience, says that the banks should be wired into 3 batteries in parallel and 4 banks in series.

    How do I connect 10 batteries to 1 charger for Perfect Balanced Charging
    I am trying to connect 10x 100AH 12v Deep Cycle batteries to a true 10kw inverter. I also have a processor controller constant current 80AMP charger. I am planning to run a mobile office. I need 12v battery bank. All these equipment are brand new and I have them sitting in my garage. Initially I thought I will just connect all batteries in parallel. Connect the charger and load on opposite extreme ends. But after reading this article, www.iotaengineering.com/pplib/balancedcharging.pdf, I came to know that the charging current from charger, or the load current when running inverter is not equally distributed. In above article this method is explained under {Method 1: Balanced Charging}. I want to use Method-2 for perfectly balanced charging. I am not able to figure out so far how to connect 10 batteries using perfectly balanced charging method. So that every battery gets 4AMP when charger is supplying 80AMP current. I asked my nephew, who is fresh graduate electrical engineer worked for NASA, he was unable to answer this question. I asked my uncle, who is PhD Electrical Engineer, he was unable to help me. I find is so strange that all these people with degrees cannot solve this simple problem. I am sure, there is someone out there who is smart enough to figure this out. Please Help.

    • @CanadianEnergy
      @CanadianEnergy  Před 4 lety +1

      sam riaz am not certain there is a way to “perfectly balance” charge and load on 10 batteries in parallel and that is why we generally recommend fewer larger batteries to get to the same total amp hours of storage.
      My preferred way of connecting many parallel string is to make identical parallel cables, they must all be identical even if some seem longer than required. Bring all parallel cables to a busbar, one for positive and one for negative. You will then connect the charge and discharge lines to the busbar and this will help minimize imbalances in the charge and discharge.
      Periodic equalization charges (if the battery chemistry allows equalization) will help keep the batteries at the same state of charge.
      The heavier the cable and busbars in a battery bank like this the better.
      Thank you. ✌🏼🇨🇦

    when creating a proper battery bank for power storage in an offgrid situation you want to use a parallel-series connection. so you can balance your batteries properly. 3.2v 200 AH with 3 batteries giving you 3.2 v 600 AH then you connect eight sets of those 3 battereis in parallel only in series giving you 25.6 v x 600AH = 15,260WH of power or just over 15 KWH of power in the battery bank with a proper balanceable battery bank. if you go series parallel you will not be able to balance the batteries properly and that is what most people do. they put together batteries into 24v or 48 volts then put those together to build up your AH totally messing up your ability to balance your battery bank. the reason most people do this is because they have 12 volt batteries available but today we use Lifepo4 batteries which are 3.2 volts and putting those together like I already pointed out in parallel series you will be able to set them up really well with a battery balancing system which will give you a lot of life in your battery bank without you loosing batteries because of one getting out of balance with another one. they will all stay in balance with each other using parallel series. I used 3P8S in my example. use that system and you will have batteries that will stay in balance for a long long time without the chance of going out of balance and blowing up on you or having a run away cell in your battery bank.
