At age 74, as I lay in my hospital bed at Swedish hospital in Seattle listening to this beautiful song while fighting acute myeloid leukemia, I remember the first time I ever heard it, it was Vietnam in 1970. I have listened to this song thousands of times and I never tire of it and it always puts me at peace.

I wish you all the happiness that life can and will give you for the remainder of the years you have left on this planet whether it be 50 or 100. Take care Judy.

34 years ago, I lost a young friend who was like a younger sister to me, her name was Marian, she was only 20 years old, I cried at her funeral, and through the years I've never forgotten her or her smile or her chestnut red hair..... three months ago I was in the Emergency room, I had left for the night, I wasn't feeling well, the next morning at 5:30 AM I took a drive to check on family, immediately afterwards I became very I'll, to the point where my blood pressure had dropped and I passed bout at the wheel, my car came to rest inside a building, totally destroyed, my sternum fractured, my wrist , ribs, family was notified, but before I passed out I did see something white, and before I came too I felt her presence as if she was guarding me, . a guardian angel....I love you Marian, it wasn't my time but I know now you're waiting for me, this song reminds me so much of you....rest well little sister 💕

I'm 30 years old, didn't grow up hearing this song really, but from a newcomers perspective I really love the "crying" sound effect in the background during the main verse. It sounds so sorrowful. Just like intensely unfilled deep love. Almost living in a state of purgatory. The desire is so strong you can't do anything besides fantasize about her.

I think because they're so ingenuous that lots of us older dudes keep fondness for the music in the closet. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Cream [all of whom I love!] could blast through a song, Moody Blues / Justin H. could hold the notes, get to the emotional core of sorrow, pain, loss...and longing, fantasy. Will have to think on it more.

My grandfather used to sing this and play it on his acoustic guitar before he passed away. While we were listening to his recording of this song a hawk flew over everyone. Ever since that day, I see a red finned hawk with 4 black spots on the under side of the wings. I miss you every day Grandpa.

This brings back so many memories of nights at home. Daddy would turn on his record player and he would play the songs he had listened to when he was a teenager in the '60's.
I miss those times in that run-down trailer house in the middle of the country.
I can't go back to those times; they don't exist anymore but in my memories. The house is different, the times are different.
But dad's record player is still here and so are his records. Next time I head out that way, maybe he'll put some of them on for me and my whole family can be swept back into time where those memories reside.

I remember an April night in 2005, sitting on my parents deck in Atlanta, and listening to their concert from Chastain Ampitheater. It was as great as the original. Called my son at work so he could listen to it. He was jealous and wouldn't talk to me for a week. Actually, if he didn't have to work that night he would have been sitting on the deck enjoying the concert with me. It is maybe 3 blocks from our house and is a place I used to work at in the summers on concerts and Broadway shows. I am 69 now but the memories of working there and the memories of just listening to amazingly great concerts on our deck, cheating by watching outside the walls of the ampitheater for many concerts and to actually work there are great memories. My boyfriend during my teen years used to call me up late at night and play this to me (along with the poem at the end). Next month we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary. Maybe the song has good vibes.

Everyone always claims the music they grew up on was the best. But, in this case, for sheer "head music" there was NOTHING like the 70's. Especially during the early to mid 70's. Once the Bee Gees came on the scene in the late 70's an into the 80's, that music DOMINATED the clubs and dance music. it had it's place for sure. But, for "head music" NOTHING compared to the early to mid 70's. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT..........ALL OF THAT ERA WAS SHEER MASTERPIECE.

I'm an old fan of KC and Robt Fripp, and yes, they were just as unique but in an entirely different, advant-garde sort of way. Fripp was not trying to concoct orchestral melodies but something utterly unlike the Moody Blues, or anyone else... (imo).

While I was serving in the US Navy on board The USS John F Kennedy I had a buddy who worked in the Line Shack with me who played the guitar and sang pretty well. So after our 12 hour work day we grabbed the keys to the ARA Locker and went down there to sing songs. This is one we did and taped them on the old cassette tape players. His name is Jim Titterington from Washington State. I don't have a clue what ever happened to him. Thinking abut the good old times....

I miss my friends from my youth but they like me went on to have great careers and raise families as I suspect your friend from the Navy may have done.
