Giving that deeper character development as well as expanding on the relationship they had with their Jedi Generals. Personally, I love this kind of stuff an I hope to see more of it going forward. Not just with clones but other characters as well. Exploring the parts of stories that we haven't got to see on screen only allows for a greater connection to these characters that we already love.

Excellent review of Cody and his relationship with Obi Wan. I too think it would be a terrible shame and a waste of a great story arc to not address Cody and Obi Wan. By the time of a New Hope, I suspect Cody is dead, or we'd probably see him with Rex's group. I've wondered if Filoni will have a couple of episodes where TBB and Rex meet with Cody and probably remove the chip and then, if there is indeed a second season of Kenobi, it could include Cody going to Tatooine to see the Jedi and maybe make things right. In fact, it could be the entire second season of Kenobi if they did it right (and don't hold your breath for that, after seeing season 1 of Kenobi). Maybe Cody sort-of shadows Kenobi for half the season, sort of a hidden protector of him, and then toward the end of the season, he ends up saving Kenobi from some threat, but is seriously injured and dies with Kenobi there, having made peace with him. It would be a heck of a lot better than that silly waste of time that was the first season of Kenobi, and it would be a noble and fitting end to a truly great Clone. Actually, I wouldn't mind at all if Cody survived like Rex did and worked with the Rebellion, but either way, he deserves a noble story arc.

4:44 This tactic is actually against international Law, not to mention a bad precedent to set.
One of the key reasons the U. S. Cavalry took no quarter when fighting the Sioux and Cheyanne came because those tribes had a history of not honoring a flag of truce, nor surrender. They had on several occasions flown a white flag, then attacked during the supposed cease fire~ having taken that time to reorganize troops, just as Obiwan did here. So the cavalry no longer trusted nor accepted surrender in battle.
What happens to the next group who try to surrender? The enemy will only see it as a trick.

One thing you didn't mention, but I think is worth bringing up.
The Clones at the beginning of the war have been force-aged (Not _The-Force_ ) so they are physically adult, but they are still only, what? Ten years old??
It is shown that the Kiminoans see them as _a product_ rather than as _fully human_ or _fully sentient beings._
These _Jedi_ were among the _First_ (mostly) _Human Adults_ they had interacted with other than some of them seeing Jango Fett now and again, _(but somehow I don't get the feeling Jango was much for fraternizing with the clones, other than Boba)._
Do you remember the first adult who paid you positive attention you weren't kin to as a young teen?

      @KMCA779 Před rokem +2

It was implied back before the TV shows that the Contingency Orders were drilled deep and hard into the clones and those that didn't comply were killed.
I can see pre-inhibitor that most clones would have followed the order by reflex and only those super close to their jedi would hesitate. But remember the clones were bred and trained for obedience and most clones wouldn't have had much contact with the jedi.
Between the Jedi Code demanding a lack of attachment, that the Jedi were so few that some clones probably spent their entire lives never even seeing the face of their Jedi General and that some Jedi used their clones with no more regard to their lives? Yeah, I could see most clones following the orders without issue.

He thinks before he acts, he has compassion and is shown to very much care for obi-wan and his brothers, like in the clones wars tv show as well as the comics. I don't necessarily blame people for interpreting him that way either though when taking into account his apparent fate in legends and the fact that a lot of star wars fans might not have read the comics or watched the animated shows.
Personally, I think this was a perfect route to take his character and whether or not you agree with me, I think we can all just be glad that Cody is finally making a prominent appearance again. Hopefully he gets the canon ending he deserves ❤

I feel like Cody is going to die, saving rex and the bad batch, while also possibly dealing a heavy blow to the early empire.
I feel this because he's gonna meet up with rex, rex will tell him about the chips and how they're just pawns in palpatines war, and realized he didn't have control when he ordered to shoot kenobi. And since he's not in rebels he's bound to die I think, along with the bad batch.

I don’t think Cody can regret doing something he had no choice in. It’s not like the inhibitor chip asked if it would be cool to murder these monks they just did. I believe Cody is simply mournful towards the Jedi and sees himself as outgrowing this new Empire.

It's not like he had a choice in the matter, it's like taking a back seat while someone else commits the act. With the clones slowly coming to realise the order was dishonest.
It's also why the empire wanted them gone is because there's a order to take out the emperor. It's a huge liability when someone can just boardcsst the order to them

that was back before inhibitor chips were a thing. I still like that more than having the free will stripped from them. The idea that the contingency orders were so drilled in, that failure to instantly follow them was likely VERY harshly punished (my thoughts were that they'd randomly call out orders and if you failed to instantly follow you'd either be tortured or killed)
They bragged about how obedient the clones were and before the TV show we were told how brutal the kaminoans were, "reprocessing" clones that simply didn't make the cut.
I honestly thought the old way was more tragic and painful.

Here's the thing. Questioning the order actually makes no sense. We want it because it provides complexity to characters that had a light switch flip. The switch doesn't flip back unless it gets removed. So it's stretching the truth a little thin to have clones question the order. I like the idea of ambiguity & questioning but in terms of how the characters are written - for what they DID? With no qualms they went from fighting side by side to not giving a second thought to murder. I'd love for clones to question but in the end, it makes little sense to regret. For all purposes, these are programmed computers.

most of them probably didnt realize they were under control of the chip, or dindt even needed the chip. i think it is the general procedure of the empire, which conflicts more and more with their morals as honorable soldiers (like faking reports, or breaking promises immediatley like in codys situation, which shows that the empire isnt as loyal and therefore trustworthy as they may thought, which then makes them question the order eventually. As i understand the chip makes them do specific order which were all encoded into their brain but doesnt change their core values as soldiers that are better then droids, but correct me if i m wrong

    Personal theory:
Using the force is two sides to the same coin. Independent sides, both different, but sharing many similarities as well as differences.
Like drawing to deeply in the dark side will cause disfiguration (either from constant use, or from the universe falling in line to liberate you from your lower jaw or ability to breath). So, then, what would be the penalty for a Jedi drawing too deeply in the light (like Obi-Wan escaping that hole, and beating Vader)?
The dark side disfigures, the light side ages
It's what makes long lived species of alien (Yoda, Wookies, that one Hutt) particularly powerful Jedi. They've got years to burn.
It's why Obi-Wan ages so drastically in the relatively short time between fighting Vader and setting Luke on his path.

I always hated that scene, it's gotta be a war crime to pull that stunt. I mean, the separatist leader was nice enough to partake in a parlay (which is almost unheard of in that war) and he gets tricked like that
