Arsenal scored 91 goals last season. They seriously aren't lacking.
Arsenal season ticket holder here. I don’t think we need a big name striker. It’s better to have three forwards who all score 15 each than one striker who scores 20 and two wide forwards who score 10. You have more overall goals and there is no single point of failure where your star striker might get injured or marked out of a big game.
Saka, Odergaard, Trossard all get into lots of goal scoring positions precisely because Havertz is such a clever player with his movement. Don’t forget that Arteta only tweaked his system to use the false nine as one of his box midfielders (instead of an inverted full back) part way through the season. Havertz is already up and running with a goal against Wolves and this season, with his familiarity with what Arteta wants from him and his confidence much improved, he will significantly out perform his numbers from last year.
Mark already acknowledges the fact that we’re a very high scoring team without a Toney or Watkins type of striker. It’s a reductive argument to say that you drop in that type of player you will automatically increase the overall goals scored because that ignores the opportunity cost of what you lose from Havertz’s link play. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Would you pay £100m for a striker to sit on the bench as a plan B for the last 10 mins of a game where you need something different? Man City might be able to afford that but nobody else can, even assuming such a player would come just to sit on the bench.

Very true. My thoughts exactly. Watkins, Toney & Solanke as good as they are, have only had one good season. We have a Jesus who has played well for multiple seasons. If not for injury he would have been more consistent. He has had a great preseason and raring to go. We will add Merino and also we have two more defenders who can attack well. So I think we are covered for most positions. We need to remember that Zini can also play midfield and so can Timber & Benny.
Since you’ve got rid of your “proper” strikers, Auba & Lacazette, you’ve won nothing. Nit having an out and out striker in the squad could cost you

What about the Aston Villa factor? Last season they gave everything to try to get a draw from Arsenal, but played kids and didnt even try against City. Cowardly teams doing that paves the way for City every year.
They had injuries last year so had to play a worse team against city.
Not to mention they played their best at villa park

People forget the reason why we did not win the league last season is because of silly dropped point at Villa H/A Fulham, West Ham. And Mikel experimenting in the beginning of last season. Now that we're off the way we finished we can win it

Havertz hit 13 playing only the second half of season in the 9. Check his numbers after Jan. I would love another winger to give us rotation and depth to protect Saka etc but we are just fine for goals.

It's always easy to say 'Buy a 20 goal striker', but he still needs time to accommodate to the new system, team members, etc. Having a same team with another year under their belt could allow them to score more just from knowing each other. Also, less risky to spread the scoring load across the team than rely on a 'proven' striker
I think the pressure has never been higher, arsenal NEED to win something this season, while people might disagree I think they're capable of winning something major this season, while we haven't done a lot this window (granted we get merino done before the window ends) I think we're saving funds to get players come the January window, but I think at this stage Arsenal have the experience to compete at the highest level against the top teams, but lack the capability to get it over the line, time will tell, COYG.

Haverts gets 20+ this season, if Jesus stays fit I think we've got enough. Obviously a striker would be nice but I think cover for Saka or Rice is more important.

Arsenal have solidified their defence and added depth, Merino to be signed with a possibility of a striker, more squad depth, more rotation =less fatigue, the determination and hunger to win, a younger team with more experience under their belt. Arsenal have a great chance and will go close again. We're also going to push further in the CL. We haven't even come close to peaking as a team yet.
If we get 30m for Eddie we will upgrade on him but it won't be a silly money stiker. The goal scoring is going to be a collective effort again, which given the lack of a clear Haaland type striker out there is a sensible move.

Arsenal historically always seem to come second due to a amazing team when they are playing well. In the 90's and early 2000's it was united (and in 2004/05 chelsea) and now when we are finally playing good again we have Pep's Manchester City, its so frustrating.

Arsenal need quality cover for Saka (to enable him to rest from knocks he receives in games) and Thomas Party who doesn't have a good track record with injuries. I think Kai Havertz is capable of 20+ goals this season. If Aaron Ramsdale leaves we also need to buy a quality second goalkeeper.
I think we have the goals from midfield and forwards, but I'd love to see Watkins join. We do seem to lack an out and out quality striker.

It actually be very difficult season for all clubs. I dont think it will be about 2 or 3 clubs at the end. I believe Villa will come stronger as well as Newcastle. Tottenham will always be around 😄 and LFC may come around stronger that we all expected. It will be fan to see how it will all be unfold. Wishing a great health and safe for all football fans 🎉

Mark you have been saying Man City are a unstoppable juggernaut for a few years make up your mind. CITY are the best team in the world I am a Manchester United fan and as a football fan I enjoy watching the best team play great football and wish we could reach the bar they have set.
I'd argue Havertz is the 2nd best striker in the league behind Haaland. Per 90 last season Havertz was better than Haaland when at striker. Over performing his X/G and big chances missed while also scoring more/assisting more per 90 and creating more, dribbling more and physically a lot stronger. Is he better than Haaland? No but I think people sometimes forget he is the same guy who was tearing it up in the Bundesliga and a future ballon dor winner.

If Arsenal had a Kane or clutch 9 they’d definitely be much closer to the title but they remind me of 2017-2022 City. Where you just need someone on the end of balls into the box. Like Sterling looked world class in that system…all city’s attackers were 10+ goals every season. Arsenal just need to do that

Solanke and Toney aren't better than Havertz. They haven't shown a level that he's been playing at the last 20 games for Arsenal
Actually we (Arsenal) need to create more clear chances, then more goals will be scored- that's why we lost games last year- i think against West Ham at home we had 75% possession but only 8 shots....and lost. That's the real issue.
You don't need someone to hit 20 goals if you have a squad of players hitting 10+ each.
