- Clip from the 1st episode of The Dukes of Hazzard, entitled "One Armed Bandits." Watch full ep on Amazon: amzn.to/2RiQZmM ! Original airdate Jan 26, 1979. There's something endearing about seeing a few dozen screaming, sugared-up kids swarming around a befuddled Sheriff Rosco. Probably the best ending of any of the episodes. Note the crossed flags below the rear windshield of the General Lee. This part of the General's uniform was later removed, though I've never heard the reason why.

January 26,1979 changed my life, '69 Charger General Lee, Daisy's '74 Plymouth Roadrunner, her and het shorts, who would ever think!!! The Dukes of Hazzard was my parking spot Friday nights, I'm a Black Man, but DAMMIT, this show was a great show, it taught ya sumthin'!!! We're all 2gether and bleed the same red, let us all still have fun!!!
Ain't it.
Man, the original episodes in Covington GA were the best. 5 hours of amazing. I read they were not going to make anymore episodes after them, they didn't think it was going to take off but it was super popular and to cut costs they went to CALI to save money. I thought in GA the episodes just felt like more like a true Hazzard county. the colors of the treets, the real roads and buildings and what not, and Rosco and Hogg's character were more threatening and truly corrupt. IN the later episodes, they just got to silly for me. But man, always go back to Season 1 and you'll be overjoyed. thanks for posting!
Not only that I remember an early season 1 episodes Roscoe had a real police force not just him and Enos
Ol yes
I like the later episodes better. I miss Coy and Vance!
@@suspiciouswatermelon7639 Ahahahahahahahaha!!
This first episode was always the best one for me, felt like a movie on its own and one of the best introductions to a series you'll ever get
How could anybody hate this show?
hive mentality mental disorder. That's how.
Very emotional
It's a political like everything else
Yankees?
42 years ago today everyone. January 26, 1979. Long live the Dukes.
My name is Luke, and my brother's name is Jesse, we have a dog named lulu, like boss hogs wife, I had a dog named Roscoe, a cat named Daisy, and another dog named Duke, lulu is the only one still living, but you get the theme lol
The redheaded kid at the end squirting soda on the General Lee's back window (Rusty) is played by Jason Lively, who starred in Night of the Creeps in 1986 as a college student fighting space 'slugs' on campus
He also played another Rusty in National Lampoon's European Vacation.
TomCatXsl Jason Lively is Blake Lively's brother
@@sherryhannah498 And they are both the children of Ernie Lively (credited as Ernie Brown) who played Dobro Doolan in this episode.
Jason Lively also played Rusty Griswald in National Lampoons European Vacation
@@johnkramer7161 Kinda goes to show you that this truly is a family show.
This is the original General Lee too - with the crossed checkered/dixie flags on the rear valance between the trunk and rear window. This was gone on subsequent Generals, so if I ever get the chance to buy a '69 Charger and make it a General Lee, it's getting the cross flags!
did you notice when Bo was honking the horn in the general it actually was going off before he touched the horn itself? always made me chuckle...
@@GisherJohn24 it could operate by a toggle switch.
The first episodes of the show were the best. This episode set the standard. They should have stayed in Covington, Georgia. Im 56 and i still long for the days where life was simple and heroes didnt wear capes or swung on webs fighting outrageous characters. This is real entertainment. Clean fun and family oriented. Unlike the trash they produce today. Ill always remember The Dukes Of Hazzard as being the best of my generation.
Is it just me or when the police car is going towards the construction workers did anybody else hear "fuck that"
I heard it too
Back when they could slip stuff past the FCC.
I got my drivers license in 1986 at age 16. I watched every episode, yes I emulated them, still do at 42 !!!!!!!!!!!!
If you ever put this show back on the air please please delete Bo Duke yelling yeehaw he ruined the show
@@danielheiss5867ok, if I ever put it back on, I'll make sure to run a few things by you first, I wouldn't want to upset anyone when I personally put it back on air. Me.
@@danielheiss5867 bruh... that is one of the best parts
Police Monacos keep switching from a '71 to a '74.
+eldo59 vote TRUMP!

Well that escalated quickly 🤣...
But yeah, they destroyed a lot of cars during the production of this show. As long as they looked close enough it was good enough.
If the world had more roscoes. It would be paradise. I'd give anything to live in the dukes of hazzard
It was basically real life Georgia back in the 1970s.
Im 25. Love this show. And yes. Im country as can be, and yes i drive just like this
I thought boss hog was giving rosco the finger
The way they took a disaster into a blessing.
That was the greatest show on TV
Rosco always wins in the end!
1:24 and thats how Yahoo! was founded.
did you notice when Bo was honking the horn in the general it actually was going off before he touched the horn itself? always made me chuckle...
anybody count how many times Roscoe's patrol car changed models?
The best ending of the dukes of hazzard they should have done a ending like this on the last episode
1:24..Lol!
They messed so many cars
I'll never quite understand why Hazard County has so much road construction and orphans. 😅
This was shot in the 1970s when paved roads just started coming to rural areas. Yes, 80% of the roads in these areas were indeed gravel/dirt roads like what you see in the show. The reason for all the construction is that state governments finally started having enough money to pave even roads "out in the middle of nowhere" so to speak.
when bo & luke meet enos at the junkyard bo begins telling a story about how or why they did it "for the sheriff" im sure it was just filler lines but was that relevant to the story?
1:48 hey Enos? What's up with your face their buddy???
And there is the one black guy in hazzard country. The original token.
Possum on a gumbush
