Kakashi created both n the difference is chidori uses an invisible Chakra ball almost like rasengan but with lightning Chakra imbued and wrapped around it, lightning blade Kakashi just uses stronger lightning release n wraps his hand itself or arm in it, so they're pretty dang close honestly

Well you did ask nicely so okay. Kakashi invented the Chidory after learning the rasengan from Minato. Kakashi failed to apply the lightening chakra nature to the rasengan and thus invented the Chidory to compensate. The chidory is named for the sound it makes "like 1000 birds chirping" the Lightening blade is the perfected form of the Chidory and earned the new name when Kakashi flexed and tagged a bolt of lightening with it during a storm cutting it in half like he was welding a blade. The Lightening blade is to the Chidory as the Rasengan is to the Rasenshuriken.

It’s not a huge leap from chidori to lightning blade, as it is to rasengan to rasenshuriken. Lightning blade is just less hand seals and better control. But still does the same thing

I think onyx is way better than that. Its the hardest hitting one the multiple hit deals SO much damage, especially when enemies are stunned with thunderous needles. Kamui raikiri might be convenient, but it just doesnt deal enough damage.
