This is literally the best, most concise video about EQ on CZcams. Period.
FOR REAL, I just spent 3 hours digging through confusing content
Yeah, I've watched a bunch but nothing is a pedagogic and educational as this!
Two years after posting, it’s still easily the best video out there on the subject! Excellent video!
I really appreciate that the adjustments you demonstrate can be audibly heard in the video as it's shown visually 🙏
Didn't know Serj Tankian was a CZcamsr, a good one
lmao
Yeah man inwas thinking the same
It was the first thing I was going to write ahahahh
Dude, I was going to say the same thing. He's a dead ringer.
the way you explained EQ was so easily understandable, i can't believe i understood everything you said, even when i havent worked with audio a lot. thank you so much!
i love this video because its straight to the point, thank you, i took a few notes and will be applying them
Excellent content, no filler, and high production value. I'm always waiting for your next video.
Alex. Thanks for all of these kick ass videos! Guys and I are stationed here in Japan and even though I have a few years of film under my belt, I still have tons to learn and this hit the mark. We release our first comedy skit here in a few weeks but thanks to this, I can nail our audio more. Much love from Japan!!!
Really helpful info presented in a very clear way - thanks Alex!
Alex, thanks so much for your channel. I don't even know what I don't know until I watch your videos and now my podcast and videos are beginning to sound so much better. Truly, thanks.
Amazing work man, much appreciated
So many of these tutorials are too long. But this one was a true masterpiece. Effective, clear, valuable and exactly what I was looking for. I finally got the solution I have been looking for. Thanx. U rock.
I work with eq daily. But in my few years as a producer... This was a clear and nice presentation. Great work!
I watched several videos trying to get a handle on what an eq does. You're the first one who explained it. Cheers
love your Videos! can you do one about mixing next? for example how loud should different types of Recordings be in your final Video?
I absolutely love this video! Thank you for making it. So clear and concise!
EXCELLENT DEMONSTRATION. THANK YOU
Absolutely fantastic! Very informative, clear and right to the point. I really appreciate your channel Alex. I am glad that I found you with potato jet.
Awesome and clever presentation style working on your own mic audio whilst simultaneously explaining the steps.
Amazing. Small video with ton of useful info I was looking for
just saved me hours upon hours in the studio going take for take trying to get the best rich sound without the clutter. very simply explained and shown in real time. im blown away with the results. i feel like i can maximize my craft with this newfound precision. thank you so much.
Thank you for this video. I just bought FabFilter Pro-Q 3 and this is helpful information. Appreciated!
Just did this on a recording and it made a huge impact.
That type of a content that receives an instant like from me, even without watching a vid first.
Thank you Alex, very informative and helpful video!
Just trying to help!! Glad you're enjoying and (hopefully) getting some useful info, thanks for watching!
This was clearly explained and really useful. I've struggled with EQing for years! It might have been helpful to compare the final result with the previously unEQed track, but tat's just me being picky. Excellent lesson!
Super helpful. Thanks for sharing. I also LOVE your sound pack of whooshes I purchased a few months ago. Super high quality and so much variety of whooshes to choose from.
This guy is fantastic! Thank you for the simple yet detailed explanation!
This is fantastic Alex! As a videographer, I've always touched upon audio enough just to get by, but you explain this in such a straight forward way that we can all learn from, and now my audio is sounding better...still got a lot to learn so I'll be binge watching your videos this weekend! Keep up the great work! 😁👍
Excellent tut, Alex. Never occurred to me to accentuate the annoying frequencies first before reducing them, but then that's why I watch your channel 👍
This is amazing. I'm an online voice actor and I've been struggling to EQ my audio, and this is a huge step forward.
Now I'm cringing at how bad my previous EQ settings sounded.
These videos are incredible! I've been looking for a good resource to learn how to really edit audio. Thank you!
incredible video. visual and auditory media was essential to me (and ,likely, many other viewers) gaining context into what was explained.
So, I was approached recently to record a child's celebration of life for the family. I'm no professional, but I have a little more experience and better equipment than the person who usually live streams the church services from a phone, and there wasn't really money to hire a true professional, so I did what I could to help.
The audio didn't come out terrible, but some last-minute problems with tying into the sound board left me no choice but to rely on my backup audio, a mic I placed close to the front of the room.
I'm still working on it, but even just the degree of improvement I was able to make almost immediately to the audio from watching this tutorial is a night-and-day kind of difference, and I have never really done anything with equalizers before in my life.
Thank you so much. I know it's maybe a small thing in the course of world events, but I am going to be able to make something so much better for a grieving family because of your video.
thank you for this video, much appreciated
Thank you , awesome video!
Immediately I trust this guy, because the audio in this video is superb.
I’ve never seen a video where someone EQ’s their voice WHILE the video, which is explaining how to EQ, plays, until now. Best tutorial.
Dude, thank you. I’ve been putting off learning eq due to fear of being confused. This video made it so simple but didn’t dumb it down. Thank you
Awesome! Glad this helped!
This is the clearest and most concise dive into EQ on then planet. Bless you Alex.
Just trying to help however I can! Did you get your pre and comp hooked up??
@@axk I DID! Everything routed properly and they sound SOO GOOD.
Best CZcams channel on audio period
Great video. Thank you.
Great vid Alex!!
this has to be one of the best mixing tutorials on CZcams. mixing is not as complex as people like to make it.
thankyou for the pro tip. i am new to eq-ing and this helps a lot!
Thank you thank you thank you! Very useful video!
Great video Alex
Thanks Alex, learning a lot with you🙏
I really love this video. Clear and easy to understand.
I'm looking for learning material on how to mix source (diegetic) music for film, so that it matches the source in a believable way (a radio in small kitchen, a house party, a big club).
If you would do a video on that or know of any others I would be so thankful!
Thanks Serj Tankian, this was really helpful :)
That was great, thanks Alex :)
Excellant video!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you sir. This was really helpful
Helpful Thank you Alex
This is the best EQ explanation I’ve seen!
Finally! I've heard SEVERAL explanations but no real reasoning on why they were doing what they were doing. Thank YOU!
Fantastic! Thanks!!!
Fantastic Explanation. I find this very useful!
Thank you
Wow, Alex. The way you explained! Thank you! Can't wait to make my videos sound better!
Glad the videos are helping!!
Really appreciate these tips Alex, and of course really just putting this video together. I know the work that goes into tutorials, even when you know what you're doing 😉 Forward momentum brother 👊🎙️
This was very helpful. Thanks Alex.
Thanks a million Alex!
Thank you for such a great explanation! I will definitely use it in future videos :)
This was probably the best explained tutorial I’ve seen ever
Very helpful. Thank you sir!

Hi! I'm a new subscriber to your channel, Alex. I saw you on a recent episode of Potato Jet and want to learn a lot more about sound sweetening, and other sound design areas. I like what you've shared so far! Thanks.
Best explanation ever. Thanks so much :)
This was absolutely fantastic, thank you for taking the time to share this information. I feel like I owe you money haha

Thank you so much

Fantastic content. I plan to follow your content closely to guide me. Would love to buy classes if you ever get a skillshare.
ik im late but your teaching structure paired with visuals etc is literally perfect. I could show this to my dog and he'd qualify for a job at Izotope Inc. Immediate sub
So informative! For podcasts, when should I Match Loudness in my workflow? I have read to do it AFTER all your editing, normalizing, compression..etc and I have heard to do it FIRST to bring up all of the frequencies and master. Thank you!
Quick Sidenote- Your voice wasn't annoying Sir, it was very helpful. I've subscribed.
Awesome!!!
Discovered you from Gene's channel. Great stuff man. Subbed!!!
Sidney Diongzon yea me too. He’s such a pro!

Thank you! exactly what I'm looking for. Super clear demonstration ((:
Do you have any advice for which EQ to use in Audition to make the most of vocal?
Great channel! I found you through Potato Jet! Very helpful stuff!
Very helpful. Thank you :)
Love your videos Alex. I was wondering if you could do a video of sound effect recording, like Foley?
I think I can make that happen!
Great vid
Qué suerte que entiendo tu idioma. Saludos desde México, y gracias infinitas por la información.
Thank you
came here from potato jet's. gotta tell you, really informative videos that u have worth a subscription
thx alex, very informative video ! That's exactly what i needed to know about EQ-ing the voice in my videos... Now i have to apply than !
Question : do you do your EQ with headphones or speakers ? My Headphones are Sennheiser and my speakers are PreSonus Eris. thx !!!
It's generally best to use speakers over headphones while processing your sound, including EQ and particularly if you're working in an acoustically treated room. Because headphones directly deliver the sound to your ears, it's very easy to overly focus on little problems and thus over EQ. Many lower-cost headphones also tend to sound boxy which can cause one to cut more in the 500hz range than is necessary.
However, the key is to understand, how what you're listening through be it speakers or headphones, translates to other speakers (or earbuds, headphones etc.)
Just like many TVs can look different in color and contrast,, warmth etc, speakers are the same with sound and it's good to listen on multiple sets to give a better representation about what is actually happening sonically. I suggest EQ using your speakers and listen to how they sound on your headphones and vice-versa.
It's also important to listen back at consistent volume levels. Perhaps a video on speaker/volume calibration is in order Alex?
i love it
Thank you! I understood better how EQ works.
Whew, I'm safe with pro tip 1! Still working on pro tip 2 :)
excellent video. Can you do a video on how to match voice over recordings from differnt days... Let's say you have a voice over done by the same person in the same studio with the same mic etc. just on two different days (or time of day: morning vs. evening). From experience i can tell they won't match perfectly. especially if you have to cut back and forth between the two recordings. how do you get them to match? Advanced question: how to you match dialoge recordings of two different microphones or is that generally a bad idea?
