I'll be sticking with Cakewalk for as long as I can. Just got used to the UI and work flow, so far it does everything I need.
I sent a message to them asking about the DAW still working after the paid versions are released.
They sent a very nice and personal message back. Not only saying I would be able to continue to use Cakewalk but also kind words of encouragement to continue making music.

Followed along with the yamaha A50 midi recording guide.. first time I realised that you can use cakewalk tracks to record and play the external keyboard.. I tought it was cool that those features are still in there.. I could name the patches and controls to match the instrument manual.
Yea... I think they need to update the act program that they have or get with company's to add more control integration with Cakewalk... thanks ks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Still love using Cakewalk too, and I plan to keep using it in the paid form when Sonar comes out.
I hear you about wishing for the ability to put a second ProChannel EQ into the ProChannel chain! But I've found a pretty easy workaround is just to put an FX Chain module wherever you want in the ProChannel chain, and stick a different EQ in there--either a third party EQ plugin or Cakewalk's built-in Sonitus fx: EQ, which is very similar to the ProChannel EQ. Or if you really want a second ProChannel EQ, just route it to a bus and use the ProChannel EQ on the bus as your second one.

Yea I know you can add the fx chain which is cool but I would rather just be able to use another ProChannel EQ it would just make more sense to me to have another one... the other EQs are cool and to bus the EQ wouldn't really help me.... I will be looking all over for the EQ if I do this on several tracks like for vocals if a artist does 6 takes and you need 6 busses or aux tracks that will still go to its own main vocal buss yea as you see it's not worth the headache.... Im not a programmer but I don't think it should be that hard to be able to add another EQ in the ProChannel just my 2 cents .. thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Show us how to stretch audio clips and the entire session tempo inside cakewalk, seems problematic on my end. Another thing is that other tracks audio are leaking through mix buses even with the mute or solo button engaged, and effects on buses/Aux tracks can't process without the Input Echo set to ON. Those are my hurdles, coming from Magix Samplitude. A demon video would be gold for the community. Thanks.
It's good I don't mind paying for it. It has made me some money so I'll give back.
That's a good way to think of it... it has made me money as well... it's a great DAW but there are a lot of good DAWs that are getting better with every release I just hope they can bring something to the table that worth paying for after giving it away for free for so long... but we shall see..😀🙏🏾
I've been with Cakewalk since the twelve tone days. The only issue I have had is that there are times when my pan settings wouldn't hold....as in if I set 100% left, somehow it plays the part in the center. My work around is to open another track, then copy the events/data to the new track and repan it again. Works but it's a pain in the butt bcuz it's difficult to realize when there's a renegade track! I wonder, does anyone else have this issue?
My first time hearing about that... I haven't had any pan issues when mixing... have you reported it to Cakewalk?
Seeing as you can export OMF, can Cakewalk import them too. I've been trying to this info for a while with no luck.
Yes you can import OMF files in Cakewalk I have a video showing how to export and import OMF files
I don't know if I can get into it ,I have it installed but it has never really grasp me to use it .
