OLONGAPO CITY Philippines - Walking Tour [4K]

- Take a walk with me around Olongapo City Philippines. I was told that this was the home of the MOST BEAUTIFUL Filipinas, and I would have to say that it might be true, you'll just have to visit to make your own opinion =). Nothing better than real local beauty from a place that still has that small town feel. Although Olongapo City Philippines offers some a couple SM Malls and one Ayala Mall, this place is still very popular with it's market shopping. Enjoy the walk my friends! =)

Bawal ang tamad sa olongapo. That is why olongapo is clean !
Wow ganyan na pala ang Gapo ngayon. Hay miss na miss ko na ang Gapo. Batang Gapo ako i was born and raised in Gapo city. 32 years na akong di nakakauwi sa Gapo. I was born in West Tapinac.
Olongapo "Gapo" City, my birthplace, in 1975 at the old General Hospital near Marikit Park, where the old Carnival used to happened every December also. I missed this town so much. Especially during the 80's and early 90's before I migrated here in the US in '94.
I missed going to Pag-Asa Market, Lumang Palengke, Magsaysay Ave., Rizal Ave., visiting friends in different streets all over Olongapo City, The Grotto in Mabayuhan, I missed all the old Cinemas like Cinema A, B & C, Fil-Am theater, Admiral Theater, Kimara Theater, Choice Theater (You are not real Olongapeñios if you don't know this theater or never been there, if you catch my drift, hahaha!), Prime Theater, The Time Square Theater inside SBMA, the Mardi Gras also, the long line of BBQ stands along the Blue Jeepney's boundary going to Subic, The Victory Liner Bus station, the Old Bakery Bakeshop where we used to buy our breads, Naval Bakery, Mansion Bakeshop, Julie's Bakeshop, King's Bakeshop, Goldilocks Bakeshop, and that old bakeshop too near the Cinema A & B before where my mom and I used to eat Mami and Sesame Balls or Kabak, I forgot the name of that place but they are well known there.
I miss Judiland Restaurant, Cindy's Restaurant and Cindy's Plaza, Admiral Restaurant, Kork-Room, Whimpy's, Shakey's, Kamayan Sa Gapo, those eateries or turo-turo along lot 21 going inside Rizal Ave. and Saulog Bus Terminal.
I miss the Choa's Grocery, The Conti-J Grocery where we used to go grocery shopping, the Triangle, all the different colors of Jeepneys...
Yellow - Magsaysay, Banicain, Sta. Rita, Pepsi & Rotonda.
Orange - from Pag-Asa to Gordon Heights
Red - Mabayuhan
Brown - Cabalan to Public Market
Green - Mabayuhan to Public Market
Blue - Olongapo near Caron St., Kalaklan, Baretto, Matain, Calapacuan to Subic Shipyard
Cream Color - Gordon Heights Upper and lower
I miss Nellie Brown Elementary School and Jackson High School
The Churches where we go to for a mass...
Aglipay Church
Saint Joseph Church
Columban Church
San Roque Church
among others...
My scholarship place "The Pearl S Buck"
I also miss the SM- Olongapo and the Harbor Point Ayala Mall inside the SBMA
The old Caltex where we used to buy our Gas in Rotonda.
All the old Barber Shops
The Bar / Clubs of Discos
The Ologapo Casino
Jellibee Mini-Mart that connects Magsaysay Avenue and Kessing St. from side to side 😁
And a lot more that Olongapo City has to offer, I grew up on this City from the day I was born up to when I finished my senior year in high school there before I migrated to the US.
Oh, I missed the old Subic Naval Base, Cubi, El Kabayo, the Duty Free Stores, The Cosmic Bowling Alley... even the oldest Bowling Alley in Gapo... the Krystal Lane... where you pick your own bowling 🎳 pins and put it up so you can play again.😁
The old billiard place near the Red Cross Center, under the Admiral Theater and my fave Barber Shop were near the Olongapo bridge by the Marikit Park and Admiral Restaurant where we used to eat a lot.
Also, the American Legion Club in Magsaysay Ave., we used to hang out in there, and get our 💈 haircuts there too.
Brown Fox and Charle's Angels clubs also.
Rock track Disco, California Jam, Strawberry Fields, Blue Note Café, and a lot more clubs and afternoon disco's before. 😁👌
It's been a long time since I haven't been back in my hometown of Olongapo City... This guy truly missed you GAPO... Someday, I will see you again, God willing of course. 🙏☺
Shakey’s pizza bro
Yeah Bro. Shakeys Pizza. But I miss the General Custer Super Club back in 1975. Does anybody remember that place ?
@@georgepickett1884 Yeah, I saw that place before, I was just a young boy back then, I used to roamed around Olongapo City, especially in Magsaysay Avenue and Rizal Avenue.
Hi James. Thanks for your reply. That was my favorite club. I had friends there. Often wondered what happened to them.
@@georgepickett1884 Yeah, no problem, you're welcome. A lot of great establishments such as clubs, bars, saloons, restaurants, among others got closed down when the US Naval Base in Subic got closed down way back in the early '90s... then whatever's left of them got destroyed and ruined by the Mount Pinatubo when it erupted... That's a huge mess when it happened... Olongapo City became a ghost town for a while. Most of the people who live and work in Olongapo left... evacuated in different places somewhere in the Philippines... some temporarily and some are for good, after that volcano eruption Olongapo is changed forever and never been the same, like how it used to be when I was growing up in "Gapo"... No matter what people say now about Olongapo City, I still love and preferred my old Olongapo City where it's always alive and seems never sleeps especially when there is " Liberty" of all the US military servicemen... Mardi Grass in all... The whole Magsaysay Avenue and Rizal Avenue was lit and so lively, so much fun, and you can go bar hopping, every clubs are open and everyone are welcome, every clubs prepared lots of foods and drinks, great musicc, awesome live bands, folks dancing and drinking the night away till the break of dawn.🌇
Good old memories that I will never forget. ☺
hi I'm from Jakarta Indonesia, thanks for the video, so I can see cities in the Philippines. It's a beautiful city. I think the cities there are more organized and clean than cities in Indonesia.

Thank you for these videos. I’ve been in US for 30 years but I grew up in these streets (the building on the corner next to CHOA’s belongs to my family). I talk to my son often about this place and my childhood and it’s nice to be able show it on video. I hope to have him visit one day. It really brings back memories.

Thank you for your time and effort to walk from rotunda all the way and around the new public market, much appreciated and bring back memory when I was very young walking the same route you just did and I tell you, it was very different compared to early 1970's walking experience.
My pleasure, it's definitely a fun walk, and wow I would have loved to see it back in the 70's! Thanks so much for watching and subscribing! =)
I haven't been to Olongapo City since 1979, Holy Moley!!! It's big! I used to go to the Tiger Lady, Green Apple Rock.
Olongapeño here, it looks quiet a bit big city in lens but in reality each destination in Olongapo are all in one direction lol (like the main dests. basically) weather is unpredictable too sometimes...
Thanks so much for watching =)

@@h.a.seroza9089 I would love to share some stories with you guys I know the times were different but the women were just as beautiful and as a young Marine and never having been in a third world country the experience humbled me to my core just seeing poverty and the way they handled it changed me as a young man, once I went back to the States I saw my life through a whole different lens.
I had my wedding ceremony in Olongapo City Hall , that was Sept. 1987. Thank you for this beautiful video, and fish market where i used to sell seaweeds when i was in high school. and my parents and some of my relatives are the fish vendor for a long time .

I miss going there from Laguna to Olongapo and stay at Subic bay to watch sunset with my Bi. 🤗 The karaoke there is a good place to hang out too. I miss being with my man. Hope Pandemic is over.
Nakaka miss grabe.
People in Olongapo is much more civilized than people in Manila. I did not see anyone walking on the streets. Everyone uses the sidewalks. And no vendors blocks the side walks as well. They respect the law.. And if you look around even sa public market nila, ang linis! Walang tambak na basura or mga basurang nagkalat. They are neat and clean sa paligid nila. WTG OLONGAPO!
Much nicer than when I was there in ‘72.
Hard to believe its been 40 yrs since I walked those streets. Really nice now

Let’s see Magsaysay to the main gate.
I would like to see the main gate again too, stood guard there for 7 months
yes thats what I want to see, man IM getting emotional thinking of the great times there.I love the phillipines.
Always enjoy visiting Olongapo when we are in country. Catch the Victory Liner and it takes about 90 minutes to get there, depending upon the traffic, of course. We try to hit our favorite spa up about twice a week. They are just off from the main gate to the SBMA. Olongapo is home to Marikit Park, which we did not know until a few years ago. Now our oldest daughter shares her name with both a park and a song/dance. My wife was born in Olongapo but she really doesn't remember. Kind of a, Oh we can't make it to the hospital in time so we'll stop at a friend's home and just have a baby. We had to cancel our trip last January because of CV, and it is impossible to know when we'll get back. Good video. Very nice to see what we can't visit, but it does make us a little homesick for the PI.
Thanks so much for watching Rick 😊
