    I need to give him credit, his performance was amazing, but I couldn't help it, at the middle of the video I was just looking at the right side of the screen. Fred elegance is hypnotizing.

      I have to watch this because youtube shut down the normal one.
      I think the part that killed it for me is that fred is telling a story about these people in his bit.
      This guy is dancing to his words and acting out freds lyrics.

      right, it's a good attempt and ambitious, but you can't hold up to that. the tradition just died in the 60's.

    I hate how this specific scene from the film has been outlawed by CZcams and yet I can see just about any other classic dance scene on here like ones from Singing in the Rain. This is the first time in over a decade I’ve seen the full sequence unedited here on CZcams. Even though it had to be played alongside a live performance and use the audio from that. Still, it’s wonderful to see whole thing on CZcams again.

    Ignore the small-minded nit-pickers, of COURSE you can't perfectly match Fred, no one could, but you did a damned good job and I think he would have been pleased and flattered. Then, of course, he would tell you what was wrong, but he did that with everybody. Definitely a hard act to follow, but nice work.

    • @lttfan9185

    It's very nice for you to pay tribute to Fred Astaire, the greatest, most elegant dancer who ever lived. As Mikhail Baryshnikov once said, "Fred Astaire was perfection." He had the most beautiful balletic lines and made the most difficult choreography look effortless. I think Fred Astaire invented the expression "swag." He had a panache all his own. As soon as he stepped out on a dance floor, he owned it. He wasn't a classically handsome man but he demanded your attention, you couldn't take your eyes off him. He exuded an effortless grace and elegance. His love of dancing was infectious. Astaire was an absolute genius. I started studying at the age of 6 with the Royal Ballet and danced for the next 25 years. I am in my late 60's now and love to watch Astaire's dance clips, as well as those of Kelly, Nureyev, Baryshnikov, Gelsey Kirkland, Natalia Makarova and other greats. Thank you for your Astaire tribute and keep dancing!

    Who else looks at the imitation of the performance than the original actor itself ? he did such an amazing job

  • @JulianChild
    @JulianChild Před 3 lety +4

    You're right, Arlin. Fred seems to defy gravity as opposed to many dancers (this one is excellent) who look more athletic ... but this guy also contended with a typical dance surface (Marley; not always the best choice for tap) while Fred had a hard floor and microphones. He, the tribute dancer, had to work harder for the sound which made him look, perhaps, a little heavy-footed ... and caned. It's stage vs screen.

    Very nice. Wish more lighting on you. Also, try to lift up your weight onto the balls instead of your heels. Astaire was very light on his feet. Floating except when to accent. Gene Kelly was more low to the ground, heavy, athletic like you emphasizing heels. My style is like that as well. But bravo for you sharing this. Would love to see update with better lighting. Not like you have lights guy at MGM able to follow you.

    Fred makes it effortless would be my only observation. Fred’s back stepping is almost dainty……like a tippy toeing. The novice needs to perfect the back step tapping and make his work look effortless. This guy shows up way more builds than Astaire and he has big feet. The spats seen to extenuate his large feet.

    il tributo è riuscitissimo, il ballerino è molto bravo, ma la sagoma di Fred Astaire affianco lo danneggia nel confronto perchè Fred resta geometricamente col busto ritto e si muove sempre con eleganza favolosa, impeccabile, nessuno è capace secondo me di reggergli il confronto così da vicino, ed è chiaro che sarebbe improponibile e va premiata la grande professionalità del ragazzo, ma non dovevano mettergli affianco il maestro perchè lo distrugge...
