For the haters out there, I usually dont reply to negativity, or to the ignorant, but I figure this could be a teaching moment. This was the first night I had the chickens, so I didn't have time to build a proper shelter, I did it the next day. Also, pullets tend to nest in a pile if they need to keep warm. That night they had food and water, and a nice little roost via a recommissioned rake. The ground here is so rocky I knew there is no way any animal can dig under. Please,if you have anything negative to say, keep it to yourself. Thanks, and I hope you can enjoy the video and learn from it, as I have.

I'm glad we don't cute foxes where I live. But everyone is likely to have wandering dogs, some of whom may also enjoy fresh chicken!

That's just the way people are, the fox has to eat too. You are caring and clever, good luck!

This nice chap will probably build a Fox and other species proof coop, why do most Human beings keep Fridges and freezers?, yessss ! , you use them so your food lasts longer!, a Fox will kill as many hens, chickens etc and then go burrow them for later consumption, very clever our Fox friends, in fact thousands of other species do it, it's called survival, they've been doing it a lot longer than we have, so before you listen to privileged, wealthy Fox Hunters just realise that these lowlives only do it for the Buzz, also to move up in social circles, there is no need at all to viciously kill these beautiful animals.

It was kinda funny of how the fox looked so confused 😂 I’m happy the fox didn’t actually kill the chickens

Fox blitzed my chooks the other night by digging a bob hole. I have a guillotine door style trap built on the inside of the bob hole now currently baited with rabbit. Will post on here if it works, so far it has been very hard to trap a fox hence why I have done a new type of trap.

We had a fox killing are chickens and guineas!, after losing thirty chickens and about twenty guineas I had no choice I took it out!. Coyotes keep thier distance cause of our dogs but a fox will sneak right up!. That solved the problem!.

Electric fence wire on 10 cm outriggers, 10 cm above ground level - zap! Is that a broom poked through the mesh netting for use as a poultry perch?

Cover it so the birds have protection from the weather and also put some branches etc up so the birds roost off the ground. Having all sides like that is not good for them

if he has a camera set up to record this, he probably knows more than enough to take care of them correctly
Also, chicken this old (I assume around 4 weeks) don't roost, ans they're just starting to grow feathers, which is why their owner started have them sleep outside
They sleep like that on the ground in a big pile of chicken, under their mother when there is one
But Bill Reed can certainly correct me on this

Why would you shoot the fox? Just protect the chickens so the fox won’t reach them, the fox was only hunting for food...
