- One of the biggest problem in every homes is a lack of ventilation. Too much moisture will create bad indoor air quality and could grow mold. We often recommend adding a timer for the bathroom fan instead of a regular switch since most people will turn the fan off when they get out of the bathroom leaving the room full of moisture. In this video, we will show you how easy it is to replace your normal switch to a timer that will help remove the moisture.
very well explained Thanks
Thanks you for showing me the video.
Good video, quick question please. My vent fan timer comes with 4 wires. Black red, white and yellow. I am not concerned about the yellow. But what is to be done with the white wire? I am in a new build as of this year. Subbed and liked.
You mismatched the hot and the load and changed it later
Hi, yes I'm fully aware but didn't feel like re-doing the video because of that. Thanks for paying attention.
Can you please overprint this error onto the right spot in the video, so people following along won't get messed up? You don't have to do it over, just display text about the error. Thanks.@@InspectCanada
Did you not use deoxit when you connected aluminum to copper because switches are less important than outlets? Does it matter?
You said in the beginning you only need a screwdriver and the timer, then you say you can do it with the tools we already at home. But you used a razor or wire stripper and the orange caps too and the sniffer too. You need to say that at the beginning too. Also how long do you wait after you cut power to start working on it? until sniffer stops lighting up? In any case thanks a lot for the video. It's very useful

I'm installing the same switch but only have 3 wires in a single box installation. Black, white, and a necked ground. I'm confused as to what to do exactly. Can you please help?
Hi , I noticed the Red wire from the fan switch is tied with Hot wire (black) from the source... Is it OK if I switch it the other way around?..I mean black from the source and black wire from the fan switch?
I'm sorry, it's best to ask an electrician for that. I wish I could help but don't want to give you false info.
I have done this twice, but after a half hour or so, the timers stopped working and I had to reinstall the on/off switch which works fine. Any suggestions? This is in a home that is only a year old.
Sorry, not sure what's happening. Might want to seek the guidance of an electrician. Weird that it would work and then stopped. Possibly the timer switch is faulty?
You showed it being installed improperly, and then flipped the wires without telling people. Surely this will cause problems for people that are following your video while doing the installation.
I guess the black hot wire is connected to wrong I feel
What if my bathroom fan has 2 different switches (one in the bathroom and one in the hallway) that both control the fan, can I still install a timer like this?
Wonder why the fan turns on by 2 different switches. I guess it's like a 2 way light switch, one at the bottom of the stairs, and the other at the top. If you have a timer in the bathroom, I would think that if you turn the switch off in the hallway, it will turn it off, even if the timer isn't done as it will cut the power. Best to involve an electrician with that setup. Best of luck
Hi, I am getting LED on the timer to come on but the fan does not come on. What went wrong?
Hi, if you see the led it means that it get power to it. The only thing I could think off is that you have the hot and neutral reversed.
@@InspectCanada isn't hot black and neutral white? If so, I have connected white to white and black to black.
What is the brand and model of the switch?
Hi, Leviton Decora www.homedepot.ca/product/leviton-decora-preset-60-minute-digital-countdown-timer/1000742640
Woof!
Fan running slow after installation.
Sorry unsure what that could be about.
What if it has four wires?
I'm sorry, I'm not sure, best to hire an electrician.
Those screws are driving me a bit nuts.
