I think the problem with online reviews is that people who have bad experiences tend to rate businesses more frequently than people who have had good experiences.
I agree. Those with bad experiences use the rating system to vent their frustrations. Those with good experiences just move on and eventually return to the establishment for more good service/food.
I agree. You rarely hear the good stories in reviews (apart from Norma's lol).
Very true and when someone new wants to check out the place, all they see is the negative reviews. Plus, most of those guest don’t even speak with a manager to make it better or not satisfied with any apology or comps.

@@otrebla8944agree and disagree. There's tons of good to great reviews also. The issue is that most of the bad reviews are exaggerated in that they're really closer to a 2 or 2.5 star review but they do 1 star out of spite. The reviews that I personally trust the most are the 3-4 star reviews as well as the lack of 1-2 star reviews.
I looked up the "high ratio cake liquid". It's a liquid shortening that is used in cakes that have a higher sugar to flour ratio, to produce a moist and tender crumb in the cake. It also produces a silky batter and does well going from shelf to freezer and back again. It is also an emulsifier so it makes the batter come together more quickly, giving high yield bakeries time to make more product. Just in case anyone wanted to know but didn't want to look it up!

Went to the taco place in Fremont last week and the birra ramen and tacos combo was pretty darn good. My local buddy said the reputation of that place wasn't good but we went, we ate, we conquered and enjoyed.

It’s crazy that back in the day it was the Hooter’s Hotel and Casino. It was kind of a nice place to hang out but started to deteriorate as the years passed. Then OYO purchased the property.
you could have bought it for $20M plus debt after 2008....that's what the owners prior to OYO did. I cant even guess how much that hotel is going to be worth now.

Norma, not sure if I went to any one-star eateries in Las Vegas two years ago--your reviews are the only ones I trust. That cake in the machine looks good--it might be better with a little nectar. Don't ever think your videos aren't creative--you always do a wonderful job. And, you always have nice skin! Take care!!!
the cake was AMAZING! totally worth it! from my understanding they restock them weekday mornings. we got ours at the las vegas airport on a monday morning.
Question is did they know who you were and you received better service? Maybe if you do this again go in a disguise and see if you get the same results.

Hooters wings are legit if you like breaded wings, as well as consistent wherever you go.

A friend and I decided to go to Hooter's as a joke. It was closed because of filth. Hollywood Bl.
The last thing I would do when I’m in Vegas is by to go to cake vending machine to get my dessert. There are so many good dessert places around Vegas. I would not step foot in Oyo let alone eat at Hooters. The hotel has bad reviews. Usually go for a slightly Higher level of eating establishment since I’m in Vegas. It doesn’t have to be sit down can be a grab and go. I really do enjoy the food courts that the resorts have been having I like the many different kinds and ethnic food, and you can pick one thing from one place and get something else different from different place.❤ Thank you Norma

Our daughter works in a restaurant in North Jersey. She told us that the staff goes above and beyond whenever someone is recording their meal. They even give them bigger portions. My hubby and I tried using a tripod and our phone at a place here in south Jersey. They gave us the above and beyond treatment. We might try it again.

You are one brave person to go to one star reviewed places but it just goes to show you can't always trust one star reviews. I've been to five star reviewed restaurants and had a bad experience too.
I think the "Welcome to Hooters" sign at Oyo was the old sign when it was the Hooters Hotel & Casino.
The Cake Boss vending machine. I always buy a slice of cake at that machine my first day in Las Vegas. Eat a little daily. I have a sweet tooth and this keeps me from buying expensive desserts daily knowing I already have a dessert waiting in the room. The trick is to let it thaw out at least 30 minutes (not the 15 as suggested by the machine). The rainbow cake is OK (vanilla cake) but my favs are the chocolate or red velvet.

In basically any industry, you will only find 1 or 5 star reviews. Those are the experiences/mentalities that were incentivized to leave a review.
Nice review. The coke the server said the only had only 355 ml, not 500ml, the bottled also comes in a six pack they probably ran out. This coke is made in Mexico, and tastes better because it comes in a glass bottle. It is made with cane sugar. You can buy these at El Super. Love your goofiness and bloopers.

Great looking wings, it's been a long time since I've had Hooter-Wings. I am a believer that there is no such thing as a bad pizza... just pizza that is 'less-good'. I've never had a pizza where I would have rather eaten the box 🍕🍕🍕... that's just ridiculous. I apply the same theory to cakes! Happy to hear the cake slice was decent. I will bring my own fork 😁😁😁 - I may have to test one out next week while in LV. Great video as always!

Funny because I used to go to that Hooters all the time when I lived in Vegas because their wings were the best. Not sure what is was about them, but man 10/10. I remember service always being pretty decent as well. They may have just had an off day or overly busy when he went. It happens.
Tacos & Miches isn't bad! I agree with the tortillas just being store bought... but they do heat them right... and the meats in them are spot on. For a quick bite on Fremont without a sit down restaurant they are good!
Hello Norma :)- As a local to Las Vegas for over 13 years and I always refer your channel to the tourists :)- You would probably do a good JOB as a "HOOTERS'S" girl based on your Personality
Been to Vegas 7-10x the past 3 years for 3-4 days each stay. I love going around trying different places / restaurants. I would check reviews every time and follow recommendations at times. I think any place could receive bad reviews any day. Things could happen on that instant or maybe just coincidence that day. I would doubt one or two bad reviews but when there is a trend in their bad reviews it usually is a red flag. So far i have not been to a place that deserves 1 star, thanks to Norma and other youtuber recommendations. Btw one place i tend to come back to every time i am in Vegas is Oyster bar in Palace station. Long wait but worth it every time.

I think the "Welcome to Hooters" sign at the front of the casino is left over from when the whole hotel/casino was branded Hooters.
I got one of the Cake Boss cake slices in the airport and it was pretty good, but I couldn't eat the whole slice by myself. It was too much sweet.

The signage is like that because the hotel used to Hooters Hotel before OYO lol they pretty didn't change anything since besides the name of the hotel.. I do like hooter wings and fried pickles.. sad the closed the one by us in the southwest
I've been to the Pho Saigon 8 on Silverado and have read some really negative reviews there, several of them 1 star. The few times I've been, I've really enjoyed my time. The only negative I'd say would be the waitstaff being a little unattentive, but in all honesty - I personally prefer that. I like being left to eat in peace. Would love to see more of these, though! Interesting to see some new places.

One anecdotal experience does not negate another. I count on Yelp for overall odds of having a positive experience and I've found them to be generally reliable. Why make up your mind you're gonna leave a positive review BEFORE you go?

Props to you, Norma, on trying out these 1 star establishments. I would never step foot in or step foot in a 1 star business, especially if I’m on vacation. I’m sure the Nectar was more enjoyable than those 1 star eateries
Tacos n Miches was just fine when I went. Pizza D'Italia was not; it really was like flavorless cardboard (and I was sober when I ate it). I still haven't had a vending machine and I don't know if I want to. Thanks, Norma, and congrats on the new house.

No bottles/cans on Fremont Street Experience ordinance is definitely enforced these days as a precaution; especially now that there are middle east conflict protest occurring across the country. It's good to see plenty of police/security are on hand during the busiest time of the evening.

Hi-ration cake liquid is shortening like Crisco. It makes the cake more temperature stable. It helps icing hold more air after whipping and it helps keep cakes moist giving them a finer smoother texture.

Alcohol on Fremont has to be in a plastic cup and most restaurants and casinos will give you one to carry the remainder of your drink. The Fremont casino even has plastic cups by the doors that you can help yourself to. We kept the cups and refilled as needed, buying cold drinks at ABC. Much cheaper than the $9 beers at the casinos!

my husband doesn't like sweets and we LOVE the Cake Boss vending machine cakes. The chocolate is my favorite and the red velvet is my husbands favorite - they are a MUST every trip. PRO TIP: always check the forks BEFORE getting the cake because they are often empty :/

Even when you don't necessarily enjoy a certain place, you are always professional, respectful and kind. Unlike certain other Vegas content creators. One of the many reasons I'm happy to be dubbed a Norma Knight!

The casino used to be called Hooters too. I went once, parking garage was sketchy and casino looked very old.
After working many service industry jobs over the decades, I will never take anyone's reviews to heart, people all are different, are in different moods, different back stories, so you will always get an angry customer or 2 every day, its just the nature of the beast, and now w content and social media, its easier for depressed people to make themselves feel better after posting nasty comments on things. Always try something out for yourself first before judging someone or something.
I haven’t been to that one but the fried pickles are really good at others I’ve been to.
I remember when it was the hooters casino the restaurant was kinda in the middle of the floor.
Went to many Hooters around the country including the first Hooters in Clearwater FL. Never had a bad experience. I eat less pizza out. Pretty much disappointed when I do. Of course I lived in NYC which had some of the best pizza in the world in the old Italian neighborhoods. Cake from a machine...well probably not for me. They have Krispy Kreme in Vegas after all. Whoa you can't drink on Fremont! I thought that was the idea with all the outdoor stuff. Weird...for Vegas. Anyway those tacos not so great. Find a family run taco place. We used to go to one on Sahara off the strip. Best taco experience ever.
I see the 1 star that were years ago. I would go with the most recent as the bad reviews from years or months might changed. I did visit the taco shop in Fremont and its ok. For the same price I would go to Taco El Gordo for the more value. Hoping Jacob would do the same thing.
