I wrote my comment 3 months ago and I have a happy update ... I got my 2 hots against covid. I'm 75 but opting to reach my 100 in 25 years. And I'll still be listening to my oldies from Herman's Hermits, the Hollies and the Beatles. Life has been good.
I was born in the late fall of 1978. I Love Herman's Hermits! I Love This Performance! I Love This Recording! I Love This Song, Can't You Hear My Herat Beat! I Love This Video!
What a fun little song! I’m gen-z, and have basically given up on my generation’s idea of music; loving what I find as I delve into the 60’s! Everything was so much more... I don’t know, sweeter and more meaningful back then I think.
It's good to go bcak to good times in this pandemic era. Those were happy days. Those where happy days of posibilities and I had no idea where I was going but I'm here now, free of covid and 75. By the way, I'm also a grandma and happy I have gotten to here. Herman was next to the best band, the Beatles and the Hollies. This was all you needed in the 60's.
I listened to my brother's HH album when I was a kid in the mid-'60s and really liked them (and the Dave Clark Five as well). But I went on to other bands and genres, and left HH behind. Now at 60, I'm listening to them all over again. Their music holds up. Good stuff.
If you want to feel good after a particularly bad day, just listen to all of Herman's Hermits greatest hits- and they had plenty. Very underrated band.
They should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their manager/producer the late Mickie Most hired session musicians in the studio but they played all instruments live in concert.
Peter none was my heart throb.i have a scrap book that is about 57 years old...I finally got to meet...I grabbed his hand and said I've waited 36 for this...what a good group...
This came out during the end of my Junior High or early Senior High years. Great song. Thanks for evoking all kinds of cool musical memories. School sucked. The music didn't.
On this day in 1965 {February 17th} Herman's Hermits performed "Can't You Hear My Heart Beat" on the ABC-TV program 'Shindig!'... One month earlier on January 30th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} and spent 15 weeks on the Top 100... Interestingly, even though it reached #2 in American it was never released as a single in their native England... R.I.P. lead guitarist Derek Leckenby {1943 - 1994} and Jimmy O'Neil {1940 - 2013, Shindig's host}...
seeing Hermans hermits in Jan 2017. also the buckinghams and grass roots. cannot wait! love the song The End of the world. my all time favorite song. I was born in the 60s.
+Erin H Shingler Ikr! Same! 13 and loving this band, I had to do an assignment on The British Invasion and research a specific bands and by some miracle I chose this amazing band!
I like you. Yes, I'll sing you this song. Just promise me that you won't throw anything at me if I sing off key? And I probably will. LoL. Later Erin and greetings from Texas!
Absolutely beautiful this song Rocks in a pleasant way. When the Hermans Hermits play this song seems like the influence comes from Lubbock, Texas. If the Crickets would've been a British Band this would've been their sound. This has always been a favorite song of mine. When the Hermans Hermits sing this song. It's reminiscent to Buddy Holly's "Maybe Baby." Perhaps that's where the influence comes from. I heard some say that Peter Noon had an uncanny resemblance to JFK. If there's any truth to that then they were both good looking guys. Someone came up with that when they were performing.
Loved this song... Many great memories.. This was great, and fun music... Nothing like this "BULL SHIT" today... Music grew strong from the late 50s to the mid 80s. This crap today is all digital shit and studio manufactured. No talent, all machines!!!
1) Beatles 2) The Animals 3) Herman's Hermits You can have all the rest. Hated the Rolling Stones and still do. Hermans Hermits were far superior. I saw them perform live at the Hollywood Bowl with a bunch of friends--both boys and girls and we all just loved them. We were dancing in the aisles. It was good, clean fun.
We've just heard this by Goldie and the Gingerbreads on The Sounds of the Sixties hosted by Tony Blackburn Absolutely brilliant🥰 R. I. P., Sean Connery💗 🙁🙁😞😞😟😟 ♥️🇯🇲🏴🕊️🔥✝️
Everly Brothers's songs are full of sad songs, so after listen the likes "Love Hurts", "Ebony Eyes", etc, it's better to quickly listen to HH's songs like this one.
It's kind of funny and ironic how the American version of this song by Goldie & the Gingerbreads became a hit in Britain and not in the US and this version became a hit here and not in their own country
@bst8035 Fair enough. Thanks for puttin' me mind at rest on that score. I was sure The Hollies covered this, but either I'm mistaken, or else, it might've been a live, unrecorded version they done. Much obliged, anyway, mate! Peace and love! Be lucky! :)
@daveslangsrocks Well to be pretty clear there IS an age limit of sorts on music. Music from one generation is usually ignored and forgotten by the following generations. Same thing with movies. I can't tell you how many people I know that haven't seen a single movie made before the 70's or 80's. Really depressing. I for one like to see younger people interested in older music, etc., because then I know that way it will never be forgotten. So at least one of us does give a shit.

chrisbacos That is Lek on those recordings. Most did hire a session guy to do "Silhouettes" but he couldn't get the part down. Lek ended up doing it. Micky Most was impatient and didn't always want to wait for the group to drive in from Manchester. The fact is that they played on many of their hit records and most of the album tracks. Lek was a great guitarist. I have some live tracks with him playing in the 70's and 80's and he was awesome. I've seen Karl play several times in the last year and he likes to play that bass hard and loud. The fact is that Most liked to use session men on all his artists including the Animals and The Yardbirds! Fact! Karl and Keith were on every track in some way or another, either by playing or background vocals.

They were great.... they put out the right kind of music at the right time.

Alright, I love the Beatles, but I think this is my favorite British Invasion band! I love them!
He still puts on a fabulous, funny show! Go see him in person if he comes to your town!
Yes, I'll vouch for that!
He always seemed like a sort of PC Mick Jagger to me. Pete sure had a gift.
i was 14 in '69 and i think they were still playing "mrs. brown you've got a lovely daughter" on the radio.
Love this band and this song

No excuses I was waiting for someone be in love with in 1965, it just took 5 years.
Omg ❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗👏👏👏👏👏😎Love Peter Noone and Herman's Hermits super talented superstars !
These guys were seriously underrated
Were not underrated at all, they had lots of hit records and sold out every concert.
Not at all underrated, the were 3rd in the British invasion to the Beatles and the rolling stones
Still a great song today.
I'm 14, and I FREAKING love Herman's Hermits. If someone likes me and wants to ask me out please sing this song...

I disagree. Since the mid 80s there have been some good bands. I like much of the alt rock from the 90s to the present.

I never like The Animals, my husband really liked them though.
When I was in 1980s I listened HH, Bee Gees, Beach Boys, The Monkees and Smokie.
There was only 1 song by the Rolling Stones that I thought was pretty and that was Tears Gone By. One of their very early tunes.
1. The Animals 2. The Beatles 3. Gerry And The Pacemakers is how it goes for me.
I love this band
