  • This video is all about my UNIQ summer school experience! I completed UNIQ in 2015, studying Egyptology for a week at Jesus College, & I have been raving about it ever since. Here are some useful links about the UNIQ summer school:

    Definitely apply for UNIQ- Daughter did and shes now having her interviews right now in oxford :) Even if you do not end up applying to oxford, this really looks so great on your personal statement and shows your good at studying at university level. It increases your chances (currently on oxford website it says to 34%) . If she dont get in, shes got unconditional offer elsewhere, to which i think UNIQ really contributed to that. Fingers crossed for her though for Jan on oxford offer day :D

    I'd it okay to have a 3 6s for non relevent subjects and then 7/8/9 for the rest of them your subjects? In year 11 at the minute and worried about getting in, especially now there isn't a personal statement cause that would have been my strongest element.

      Middze ! Yes absolutely fine i has a 6 in Food and Nutrition but a 9 in Sciences haha 😂 although if you’re still in YR11 you can improve your grades since they’re not set in stone yet? Xx

      @johannasealey9431 Před 4 lety +1

      Hello! I got my acceptance today for Theology, and I had a 6 (maths) and a grade C (ICT) on there. I got mostly 9s and a few 8s though. As this is a programme made for widening access, grades are only one factor, and there is a lot of weighting on Acorn and Polar classifications. It would depend on what subject you are looking at though, the more competitive ones (medicine, law etc), so perhaps 3 6s would mean a less competitive application. I would still apply though, especially if you come from a very deprived area or you are care experienced/free school meals etc.

    • @RosieCrawford
      @RosieCrawford  Před 4 lety +1

      It certainly gives you more to talk about in your application and at interview! Doing UNIQ also makes you more comfortable with Oxford as a place & introduces the application process in a way that makes it less daunting.

    • @nikola206
      @nikola206 Před 4 lety +2

      As someone who went to UNIQ and got into oxford, yes. Not because they remember you or have your name on a list but because you’re less intimidated at interviews because you’re used to colleges and being around other Oxbridge students

    • @Oxcentric
      @Oxcentric Před 3 lety +4

      Yes. Firstly, it gives you some fantastic activities (basically a preview of the first year of the course!) to discuss in your personal statement. Secondly, it gives you a chance to get insight on how to improve your application from students who went through the process themselves. Thirdly, it allows you to build your confidence in an interview situation, as the mock tutorial at the end of the week will be similar in style to a real Oxford interview. UNIQ does attract outstanding students who had a good chance of success anyway, but I would still say it is a massive boost to an application, albeit certainly not a deal-breaker if you lack it.
