My husband and I moved here a couple years ago from Nashville. Our kids love their schools. We bought a big beautiful home that wouldn’t have been affordable to us back in Nashville. Our neighbors are wonderful. After the tornados in December, I was touched by the outpouring of love from the community. So many people volunteered their time and resources to help those in need. I truly have no regrets about making this move!

Clarksville, an over populated town that's continuously growing with a minimum wage of $7.25 and they charge more than what a majority of the population makes. Also if you want to enroll your kids into anything the wait list is many months in advance. The drivers are terrible, and love running red lights. Busy roads with no sidewalks so people are walking in the streets which is barely wide enough to fit a truck per lane. But yeah at least we have the outdoors.

Correction -Jimi Hendrix served in the US Army at Fort Campbell in the late 60's. He is not from Clarksville. Also actor Frank Sutton, Sgt Carter from Gomer Pyle is from Clarksville.

Some of us call Clarksville mini Nashville. I like it better than Nashville because its a lot easier to navigate around the city, but in some areas it is defitinely cluttered.

Frank Sutton is from Clarksville. He is well known as Sgt Vince Carter on Gomer Pyle, USMC.

Why does Clarksville suck? Traffic is bad here in Clarksville. Is it Atlanta Bad? No. Is it DC bad? No. Is it bad compared to other cities of 100k - 150k people? Yes. Why? Because it is growing and it is growing fast. And when the city and county governments plan to do road expansions they plan based on the needs of today. So if a two lane road needs to be four lanes today, and the city is still growing, guess what? By the time funding is found, studies are done, designs are complete, land is acquired and construction is started, Those 4 lanes will not be enough. No foresight. Developments are being put in on those two lane roads faster than the utilities are being upgraded and they cannot handle the demand. Companies are being brought in for jobs jobs jobs! But they are all just "Living Wage" jobs with no chance for advancement. Expansion is everywhere in this city. How can you tell? because there is fresh concrete dumped at almost every intersection every morning. C'mon Clarksville, start holding these batch plant company drivers accountable...even if they are your good ole boys. And that is the root of what is wrong with Clarksville. It is run by the good ole boys, for the good ole boys. Old tobacco farmers with the land and their developer buddies are in cahoots with the contractors and their city council buddies. The developers don't want the expense of sidewalks so...no sidewalks. How about that big apartment complex off Exit 11. It was in the county which required approval from all the surrounding neighbors before zoning could be changed. Every neighbor voted no. What to do? Annex the land to the city where no approval is needed and turn your developer buddy loose!!

Hendrix from Clarksville is not correct.
He served down there before hurting his back and was honorably discharged from the Army.

This city has it good things about it and then it has some bad things about it. Of course these people will focus on the good qualities and not mention some of the bad things. There are areas that have some nice farmland and then there the areas where buildings are clustered together way too closely. Many days it has some nice weather and mostly mild winters and then there are the days to take cover from tornadoes and the floods. Then there is the crappy traffic during the rush hours and there are a lot of butthead drivers over there. Then there are the hundreds of sinkholes that are under the city, but that is common in throughout the area Of Kentucky and Tennessee. I do like the movie theater over there, but I cannot stand the Walmarts over there. Then there are the 9% taxes, but it might be 9.point something %: lol. It is also a cop trap, for I have heard they have an unusually high ratio of cops to population over there, but I'm not sure if that is the case now. I do know for a fact that they used to love giving out their parking tickets over at the University. It also appears that the landlords are trying to keep up with inflation and the rent is higher than they are making it out to be in this video. It may be cheaper rent than in Nashville, but it's still pretty high. There are good and friendly people in Clarksville and then there are also the crazies and buttholes, but that's just the way it is in most places though. The restaurants are decent, but of course not as good as some of the high end restaurants in Nashville. Overall, it is better than the major cities but it does have some of the issues that comes with living in a city.
