The shortest _average_ lifespan. …
Clones at the first battle of Geonosis.
Dude!😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣😂
Not cool 😤...
I'll guess 10 years. 😁
Barely made it past the first hour... nevermind the first day.
I like how he refers to the Gungans as semi-sentient.
Well, you know what they say "The ability to speak does not make you intelligent"
Let's conveniently side-step the "sentient vs sapient" debate for now
He referred to a good number of them as swmi sentient.
He's not wrong but some maybe as powerful and cunning as sith lords
@bob harley sentience and intelligence are 2 different things buddy, a baby isnt smart but its sentient
Goongas
Which character has the shortest lifespan? The kid that asked Anakin "there's too many of them, what are we going to do?"

What about still borns?

1. Avoid Sand.
2. Avoid Force sensitive people.

Avoid space monsters.

@@clearlywrong6520 Once in 5 thousand years is a ratio I'm good.
I would’ve thought Clone Troopers had the smallest life span, since many of them died in combat, their bred purpose. And they had accelerated aging.
Agreed but the clones aren't a species
@@bfufhryrrhtjhxbdgkjgutitjh7877 that's true, they are still humans
@@alejandroelluxray5298 i'd say partially since they were programmable (in difference to indoctrination that totalitarian governments do)
Technically, the clones’ aging was only accelerated while on Kamino, due to treatments and not genetics. Once enlisted, the treatments would be stopped, and a clone would begin to age normally over the course of a year or so.
@@bendover9813 That's not the case by any means, we see clones actively searching for ways to slow their aging, also, look at Rex.
The Death Star has a pretty short Lifespan.
Alderaan's lifespan was cut off to short you could say it went out with a bang
A moment of silence for all those lost to falling off railing lacking catwalks, balconies and ledges. Thousands must have gone missing that way on Coruscant alone, daily. I know most would 'get used to it', but the way walkways are designed in Star Wars, in ultra minimalist fashion, y'all know drunk people or the unwary/just plain unlucky would fall down the side of a building many thousands of feet tall.
Then there are the deliberate jumpers to consider. This, even before the Empire was around to turn utilitarian brutalist architecture of sci-fi futurism up to 11. Apparently railings were so passé in like 7/10 designs. There are legit more railings inside an imperial building interior in rooms with no danger of falling. But when it comes to access corridors etc they become pretty much featureless save for a bit of lighting. I get that some will be deliberate chokepoints, but c'mon, man.
RIP all the random Imperials on Day 1 on the job, who fell to their deaths screaming.
Places like that in star wars have emergency tractor beams that catch people who fall or jump off.
Still not as bad as Middle Earth, though. And that place didn't even have a minimalist architecture policy.
@Joseph Cavanagh I know
@Joseph Cavanagh XD "So anyway, I says forget the dental plan, forget sick leave I just want a railing, ya know? One railing, right here." "I know, I've almost fallen over like so many times. So what'd they say?" "Get this... they said they're worried we'd be leaning all day." "Pfff. They said that?" "Yeah." "Well, none of this will matter when were famous singers."

I would love a list of the species with the largest lifespans and why their cultures permit such long lifespans.
Might be the next one.
Agreed. For example, I think the Sith purebloods might have an average of 400-500 years.
@@clearlywrong6520 everything I have read sith purebloods have a natural lifespan of 250 years, but being that lifespan can be modified by the force, I would imagine 400-500 years would be possible.
@@clearlywrong6520 maybe their natural life spans could be that long but given the life style of the sith, they're lucky to make it to adulthood 😋
What does culture have to do with that lol

Trandoshans worship a goddess known as The Scorekeeper, not a god known as The Game Master.
both sound cool tho
@@Gabiman66 The Game Master is a character from the old "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" cartoon, though. He flies an intergalactic arena ship, capturing beings and forcing them to fight as gladiators for his amusement and profit.

???
Pleas do go into detail, op, and if you don't mind tagging me when you do.
The dude who posted the video has tech in the channels name
I remember in SWTOR (which is of course not canon) that Trandoshan's tend to die young due to how violent their hunt-based culture is. In that game, a Trandoshan that reached the age of 35 made was considered an "elder" and blessed by the Scorekeeper.
I feel like they lived longer that they do, Bossk lives to be 80 yrs old when he met Han Solo the last time
Challenge question: how well do Star Wars writers account for the metabolic rates/capacities of species when it comes to life expectancy? For example, approximating Yoda’s mass and weight, how much would he have to eat per day or if he’s like a tortoise, per week or month? Perhaps that rootleaf stew in Empire was Yoda’s meal for the month.
Do we even see Yoda himself eating it? he may have cooked it for Luke. yoda not eating frequently would explain why the stew tastes so bad.
1:57 the god is actually called the scorekeeper.
"Trandoshans can regrow limbs if they piss off a fully grown Wookie in a cantina"
Who's here after watching the 4th episode of the Book of Boba Fett?
me
So genetics and cultures are the major factors about the lifespans of each species. Am I right?
Probably yes.
Well that's true even in real life. Every species' (human or animal) lifespan is based on their biology/genetics as well as their culture/environment. For example, no matter what you do the average cat won't live as long as the average human because of our different biology, but populations within the same species can have far different life expectancies based on how they live, like how most animals live longer in captivity if they are properly cared for compared to in the wild, or how humans live longer today than we did even 100 years ago because of better medical science and other factors. In fact, with their access to bacta and other more advanced technology than what we have, humans in Star Wars should have a longer average lifespan than 70-80 years like us. I would expect it to be 100+.
I'm surprised he didn't mention the chadra-fans which only seem to live up until 40, in some rare cases living a few years longer.
I was surprised they were omitted too
In some novelization the Wookie's lifespan was considered to be an excess of 6000 years as for the Jawas was they were considered to be highly evolved rats, yes without their hoods they're just rats!!!
"Jaw"? Like Jawas??? That's kinda true.. if your rat pack had a thing for electronics and constantly pestering an haggling with you to buy their wares...

Ocampa from Star Trek: *a m a t e u r s*
Ocampa can live 10 or 20 years. The shortest-lived species from Star Wars has been forgotten and is called Devlikk which has a life expectancy of 9 years with some rarely reaching 10.
The ocampa that stayed would be really old by the time they reached 10. It was only the ones who left that lived longer.
Facehugger from alien: hah i just leap at the nearest face implant an egg crawl up and die in just a few minutes. ( Facehuggers only go alive once a host is near, its complex biology)
The shortage of Ewok meat was probably because not many spaceships wanted to go near the debris of the second Death Star, where there would be pirates; not because of a shortage of Ewoks themselves.
Mass Effect has the Selerian species which live 40 to 20 years due to genetics and super fast metabolism. Their culter is advanced so it isn't what reduces their lifespan.
Yea I was thinking about those guys when writin the script
For a list of short lived species, maybe you should have mentioned the Rodians who live 23.5 years, and the Devlikks who live 9 to 10.
Doesn’t Greedo appear in The Clone Wars and A New Hope which are 19-21 years apart? He must have lived well beyond his average Rodian lifespan then. Or, more likely, whoever wrote Greedo into The Clone Wars just didn’t care lol
Rodians live like 50 years or so I thought
I’d recommend you do a longest-life-span video, but we all know the Gen’Dai would take the cake for that.
That scene of the door gunner in the U-wing was one of my favourite in all of Star Wars
I just watched one of your old Q&A vids and you said you hate talking on camera. I think you’re great at it and it honestly worried me when you said that. The Trandoshan goddess is the Scorekeeper not the "gamemaster"
Your channel is my absolute favorite when it comes to Star Wars !! You’re the best . Loved this video
I loved this episode. It's really fascinating learning about the different species in the Star Wars universe.
I imagine Neimoidians have a fairly short average lifespan as well, given how their young are basically left to fend for themselves in communal pits.
Good to see you Allen. Great work!
thanks for the continuing awesome content.
The average lifespan of a Bothan is how old it is when I find it
This of my favourite videos so far!
Not only is this the best Star Wars youtube channel but my favorite one too
"The Talz were a violent species..." Not violent enough for Broonmark, apparently (yes, I know SWTOR is legends).
It's strange that with a much higher tech base, humans in the Star War's universe don't live as long as humans on Terra.
At a guess, I'd say that is a testament to just how terrifyingly dangerous the SW galaxy is. For every peaceful, pleasant Alderaan, there are dozens of Eriadus and Tatooines. The really high-population planets like Coruscant are basically 40K hive cities, complete with hyper-violent gangs, forgotten cults, miserable company-town factory dorms, and sewer mutants.
@@tba113 true, we don't really get a breakdown of average life span in the Core Worlds vs Outerream Territories.

Gamorreans are basically Star Wars orcs

Excellent video again, thank you Generation Tech! Minor correction however, the Trandoshan species deity is the Scorekeeper not the Gamemaster (they are the evil MMO species deity - another reptilian species)
“In case they piss off a fully grown wookie in a cantina”
Is this just a coincidence or are you in contact with Dave Filoni and is he spilling the plot to you early
Where do you get/how can I find your thumbnails, they are excellent and would certainly like a few for wallpapers
Great video!
Actually, humans seem to have increased our lifespan by 50% in the star wars galaxy. Like when Grand Admiral Pelleon signed the peace treaty with the new republic, he looked to be in his early 70s but was over 100.
Yes all the jedi were also far older than they seemed. Mace windu was in his 60s, qui Gon aswell. It's when they have access to regular bacta and other treatments that they can live slot longer. Obi wan aged like crazy when he was watching over Luke. So did Yoda when on dagobah. Much of it has to do with their medical care.
Fantastic insight thanks 🙏🏻
I really liked this. Thanks.
One word:,Younglings
according to legends there was this species who lived on tatooine but they rebeled against the rakata and the entire planet got glassed
so they devolved into the tuskens and jawas
Great video
Which Species has the Shortest Lifespan? - That would be StormTroopers ..
cool vid, funny learning this star wars lore lol
You made a mistake at the beginning with human lifespans in Star Wars. On the wiki, it states that humans live for around 100 - 120 years, assuming the subject is in good health
Exactly.
He can't tell me that the galactic civilization of Star Wars doesn't allow its human members to exceed the average lifespan of current day Eastern Europe. 😅
There were some species in here I didn't even know were short lived. Interesting. A couple of addendums; The Trandoshan god is called the Scorekeeper, not the Gamemaster. And second, you left out the Chadra-Fan. The little bat people, like the one you see with a drink in the cantina in ANH. In legends they grew and aged much faster than most other species, growing up fast and only living to be about 40 years old.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the chiss have pretty long lifespans, considering Thrawn was the captain of his own ship in outbound flight, which takes place a decade before the clone wars and hes still a young man.
I was expecting that you were going to mention the predators that inhabit Endor like the wolfboars and the Gorax
Those ranats must've felt the effects of inbreeding depression. They have to have super low heterzygosity. How did they not die off from genetic diseases.
Cheers brother.
Thank you.
I’d love to see a video on the aquatic species of Star Wars
I will never understand why Gamoreans continue to be hired as body guards when they clearly suck at it
I'm more of a star trek homie my self, so I don't know much on this topic, however the ocampans of the delta quadrant in star trek have a life span of 9ish years, however there was a sect of the species that separated and went off with the female caretaker that lived to be closer to 16
I mean technically the younglings had pretty short lifespans…
How goes the war against the dolphins. You should provide is an update video revealing the strategies of these water mammals
Stormtroopers who were assigned to the Death Star during the latter half of Rogue One. Shortest life span guaranteed.
You forgot the younglings, those barely lived to an age of 10 years
Also in the sixty-five year lifespan category are the Squibs.
Learned about fighting the tols in SWTOR....they're so strong
I’m surprised that with all that technology humans and other species would live much longer.
where do you get this information its cool
I always pay a particular attention to the way you introduce yourself. Who knows? Dolphins...
Everything I could find on trandoshans has their religion be the "scorekeeper" not the game master
Hey Alan. While watching revenge of the sith, in the scene before Obi won leaves for Utapau, on the venator class star destroyer i saw a two legged robot carrying containers. do you know what it could be?
A little fact: In Legends, humans loved longer, between one hundred to one hundred and twenty years old.
Well, most would still die in their early hundreds if they did not make use of advanced, expensive medical technology.
Eppie and Orn Belden were one-hundred-and-thirty-two and one-hundred-and-sixty-four, but had come through numerous organ replacements and procedures.
Force sensetive humans could live to about two-hundred, approximately (I only know of one character, but I don't recall her name) and even - Shayoto - lived to eight hundred.
Alan I remember you from GameSpot back in the day
1:55 scorekeeper not gamemaster
Yes. You are correct, sir!
I have a question about novel and graphical novel. Is paperback or hardcover novel the exact same thing as graphic novel? The only difference is the length of the book and visual?
I think a more accurate lifespan measurement is average age of death via old age. Like humans in the 1700's had an average age of 50 but it's skewed because of a high mortality rate among children and young men once you've made it past 30 you're more than likely to make it to 70 than 50.
can you plz continue the sepratist alliance vs earth series plz
I thought the problem with the Cereans was not a low birthrate (overall) but the fact that the female to male birthrate was 20:1 hence the polygamy.
I was honestly expecting him to add the Chadra-fan who usually only make it to 30 years.
found this video to be amazeballs.
With their access to bacta and other more advanced technology than what we have, humans in Star Wars should have a longer average lifespan than 70-80 years like us, just like how we have a longer life expectancy than people from previous eras. I would expect it to be 100+.
Part 2? We know the lifespan of the Fett clones, but what about the species that lasted shorter than that? And the subsequent laws that made them voting members of the Galactic Republic & such…

07:50 The rurians feared the metamorphosis because the adults of the species were nonsentient. What came out of the cocoon was an unintelligent insect. Horribly, many of them still had fragments of their memories left. In the extended universe ("Legends") Han Solo returned to visit a rurian friend, only to find he had metamorphosed. He was delighted, however, that one of the adults kept landing near him and waving his wings at Han.
The younglings should be on this list!
Imagine being aware of dissolving into good to transform. It's no wonder they prevent growing out of their larval stage
how do you spell the species right before the talz? I've been looking forever.
So the human lifespan hasn’t changed with all that technology?
Unfortunately it seems life extension hasn't been figured out in the star wars galaxy.
Excluding force based techniques.
Probably a little over a hundred if you have good medical care, but ultimately the human genome isn't designed for us to live for centuries.
You have to remember all of this took place long long ago in a Galaxy far far away.
i always thought the trandoshan god was called the "score keeper" or is there another trandoshan god called the "game master"?
Scorekeeper was a goddess, not a god
