LYRICS
the eerie cold of the morning.
the sun shining through the pines. in
the distance a fish rises to an insect.
giving birth to infinite rings. soon the
sound reaches the forest, waking thousands
of dormant organisms. waking you and me.
katahdn. with all your majesty. bluebird.
chickadee. we set the lake on fire. katahdn. - Hudba
couple of weeks ago i was riding 95 in Maine north of Bangor heading towards Caribou. pulled off near Patten to get a view of Katahdin as the sun set. it was then i realized how such a powerful song as this was written. not to be cliche but i’m always astonished by the beauty of this earth and the beauty of music.

@@smoothie5867I’ve climbed Mt. Katahdan. Beautiful mountain and beautiful state.
Hand in glove
years ago my friend and i had a little record shop in St. Augustine, Florida. I remember when the singer Colin first came in and bought some music. soon after he started up this band and my partner put out this first record. I've lost touch with all of them but I hope they're all doing well.
:)
Where is this band from? I have a tattoo of their split on my front forearm and wanted to just reach out to them and thank them and whatnot
@@ROB7002 my dad was the drummer
@@georgemiddleton8957 hey! do you think I can get in touch with him and thank him? I'm a drummer myself and his playing really influenced my style. This would mean a lot to me! I also would like to know if he knows who the woman on the split with moonraker is? because they are tattooed on my top forearm lol
@@ROB7002 I asked Jason (his label put out their records and he is friends with the DM3 guys) about the woman a couple years ago and this was his reply.
"The pic on the comp is a stock photo from a time life series of photography books found in the University of Florida Architecture and Fine Arts Library"
FANTASTIC Song ❤Foto ist authentisch perfekt 🎉
I'm so thankful this song exists
Man I haven't heard this since high school. Been looking for it everywhere. Thank you for posting it.
Such a classic high school anthem , isn’t it? Cheers, this comment aged well
So this strangely mixes Van Pelt and Slint and something unknown to me? Sweet
Thanks for uploading this. A very great song; best of Don Martin Three I believe.
I would have uploaded it in spring of 2013, but while rendering, computer overheated. I attempted again in summer and it overheated again. Haven't attempted again, so once again, thanks.
Hey Brian! This one is definitely one my favourites from Don Martin Three , along with the last tracks of Fire as a Metaphor. Thank you for your amazing blog , I've discovered a lot of great music from there.
TheScreamly Ayyyy. You're welcome. I want to be more active, but I generally don't have much time in my hands. I feel as though I'm being grinded down by this system, y'know? N e way, enough of my whining. I'll post & upload more stuff right now.
Vote4cake Yes , I do know what you're saying. Unluckily there are not many people aware that there is a system trapping them (us). I'll check your blog then.
Transistor is better. It's their best song.

Quit your job. Tell 3 friends who hate their job to quit too, etc. until no one has to work jobs they hate anymore. Fuck man, we're all going to be dead forever in a blink. Quit the fucking job.

KATAHDN
Fuck, hits different
C'è del talento....
.
The band on this photo is Via, not DM3.
Do you have any info on them? Tried looking up "Via" but can't find anything about em.
Yeah likewise, any sources?
@@Ξ-Ξ I think it's safe to say it isn't Don Martin 3 in the photo as the singer here clearly doesn't have a guitar whereas Colin McCann was the guitarist and singer. I'm just curious how he knows it's some very obscure band that doesn't even have a discogs page.
@@bIoodypingu I see. Yeah on Last FM and Discogs they use this photo. Reversed image searched and even searched for that band ‘Via’ with no results.
@@bIoodypingu czcams.com/video/dH6dhHUDs3I/video.html
definitely one of the most obscure bands in the whole genre. barely even managed to record a demo tape. very very little is known about them. unfortunately i couldn't find any source for the picture, but here's their demo (in its bass-less glory)
is this song about camping on mount kathadin?
It must be about seeing dawn on Mount Katahdin. The peak of Katahdin is supposedly the first place in the US to see the sunrise.
@@jasoncrease then it’s poetry
too many bugs, but its still dope

has to be the same singer as Capn Jazz?
The band is screamly? I'm not finding it
the band is Don Martin Three
what the fuck does katahdn even mean?
I think it’s like a group of sheep or something
Somehow this reminds me of Slint
