800% slower Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek, A Symphony of the human voice in octaves
Vložit
- čas přidán 21. 10. 2013
- Skip to virtually anywhere as the intro and outro are a little dull,
This is a single voice being played in multiple octaves which when slowed down sounds like musical instruments which is pretty cool.
enjoy! - Hudba
You can literally chop up this whole song and use it for an entire movie score
Zombite Creations Agreed.
Blade runner 2049 special edition recut ost?
Might do that
This actually sounds better than what I was expecting. This sounds more like ambiant music and not like a troll.
It's supposed to be Ambient music. Some of the best I've heard, actually!
Yea I thought it was gonna be like you know the *Hamburger* meme, well I thought this was gonna be like that meme but a vid I saw with the *Hamburger* meme extremely slowed down. That's what I thought it would sound like but you're right, I also feel like I could sleep or study to this.
*INHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALE*
Sanima Cailer 😂😂😂
Sanima Cailer this made me laugh 😂
it's monday morning. I'm still waking up at work. I spat my coffee out. Cheers hahahahaha!

I watched the whole vid and now I'm not afraid of dying
Kai Morgan That’s some heavy shit.
xD omg
It's a divorce not death, but might as well be.
this is literally a vibe I'm looking for in music
Best comment.
I think some other commenter said it quite perfectly,
"some parts were creepy only to break into beauty..."
+hadezmage same beauty is in Pink Floyd, check out Echoes if you want to hear a hauntingly beautiful song.
+hadezmage its basic music thoery. when you hear tension your brain begs BEGS BEGS BEGS you to play the "right" notes (aka resolve). Almost like a drug. Bach was real good at that And a lot of pop melodies do that too. The creepy parts are there jsut to get to the beauty

From a musical perspective, this is absolutely incredible. Imogen Heap makes amazing chords in her music anyways. In a normal song, taking a breath technically creates momentary dissonance. When that breath is slowed down 800% the resolve to a normal chord makes an absolutely breathtaking effect. I think I may use this effect in an original track at a later date; it's just that fantastic.
haha breathtaking
Lemme hear it please
Did you ever try it?
Hello stranger on the internet, we're all bursting with anticipation here!
(Do also listen to Future Sound Of London while you're at it!)
It's great to realise such perspective but what she did was simple. Play, and harmony with heart
My soul just got hugged for 35 minutes
John Doe I love this comment
I think you mean this is a single voice combined to create "harmonies" but either way this was very eerily beautiful...I had to listen all the way through....some parts were creepy only to break into beauty...just wow...a testament to Imogen's genius. you guys should listen to this along with watching time-lapse videos of the sunrises and sunsets and of the milky way and stars....very celestial combination
BlinkinFirefly I've been messing with something called a "Vocoder" for a few months now and have managed to replicate this effect, only nowhere near as cleanly. Imogen Heap, musically, technically and vocally, is incredible. You guys might want to check out her TED talk about her new invention, a pair of gloves that allow you to create music on the fly and add effects to your voice real-time. Just type "Imogen Heap TED" or "Imogen Heap Gloves" in to the search bar and check it out!
***** So amazing!
BlinkinFirefly thank you so much for the suggestion, this all sounds perfect for when tripping :)
Thank you, BlinkinFirefly. Have a terrible migraine, and it's been a horrible week of non-stop pain. Put on time-lapse stars to this and had an amazing experience. Total nostalgia trip, reminding me of looking at the night sky on the 4th of July with my very first love. :-* So cool!! X))
Kayra Jordyn I'm happy for your experience, hope you are migraine-free!

4 years later and this comment is still golden
What the hell is going on?
Did you intentionally type a line from the song or are you actually asking?
I think, the dust has only just begun to form
Crop circles in the carpet. Sinking? Feeling...
Spin me around again

This is actually a great way to pick apart the chord structure and enjoy the progressions. Beautiful from start to finish.
This is proof that vocoders are rad and should not be confused with auto-tune. Ever.
@@brianray8351 Preach. Ariana Grande's live performance trying to emulate this song with a vocoder is proof that vocoders are not as easy to use as they look. Definitely nothing like auto-tune.
i love how you can hear the harmonies clash and resolve, it's beautiful

I hope this is what I hear when I die, and a blinding light sweeps me up, like a gentle breeze.
London Beckoned For Songs About Ryan Ross agreed, but maybe a little different because some parts of this actually unsettled me, gave me anxiety
Angelo James Mordini yeah some parts were kind of freaky
shouldn't death be a little unsettling? beautiful and final and beyond comprehension.
And all turns to silver glass
This is what you hear as you die, looking up forwards into the sky as bright light floods your vision and you drift away into heaven...
+ZacAttackk You'll need Tylenol when you wake up.
+ZacAttackk omgomgomgomg ZacAttack is on youtube omgomgomg i still am following you on roblox! (btw im starblox330)
+ZacAttackk Cool! Can't wait to hear the song you hear if you go to hell. I'd say it's in the rock genre.
+Jimbo Mitchell That's what you'd think, but I'm pretty sure Hell is full of elevator muzak and Prince.
Maybe a little metal if you're lucky. :/
***** well if you go there you will meet me... rah
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Slowed down like this, it's the most haunting, beautiful thing I've ever heard in my life.
I can't believe this has been on the internet for 10 years and I'm only finding it now. I also absolutely love this song
23:07

My favorite part.
Where was this my entire life?
comments full of people trying to create a metaphor or simile for what "this is like".
This is like being picked up by a dolphin god and washed through time to the dawn of my awakening.
This is like dark angels meeting you at the moment you die and drowning you in the chimes of their glorious bells of fate.
This is like all of the other me's from all the other universes are coming together to share the memories of our eternity souls.
This sounds like the sound your soul makes when it breaks into its eternal chorus.
sinbaadi that’s...that’s actually pretty good
Your comment is like an eternal counterpoint to the final breath of internet trolling.

Imogen told me she loves this. She uses it at her pilates.

I've used this single song as the soundtrack to write 65% of my book. Thank you!
When you smoke so much weed everything slows down around you.
Now we know how to manipulate time itself
Imran A Lmao.
+Imran A Thats actually correct, haha.
***** Oh wow.
Last time I smoked weed the only thing that slowed down was my sex drive. :/
16:45 ok every high note she hits gets 100000x more beautiful which i didnt know was possible
21:14 jesus christ
Westygalery is it because you dropped some acid
Haha I feel like my whole personality is just like I'm tripping balls xD
Westygalery :o
headphones highly recommended.
I guess this is a test of patience?
Drone ambient
Not a test of patience, good to meditate or fall asleep to.
It's so ethereal and ambient. The breaths at the start of each word have this hauntingly beautiful quality to them.

hahaha i died XD
Holy crap, how does this sound so cool?! O_O
...Am I dead?

The power of Imogen Heap, that's how.
Paul Stretch ;)
This gave me such a strange kind of fulfillment. It feels like everything is going to be okay. I can't understand how a 800% slowed down song can do that to me, but perhaps it is because of the stunningly beautiful build-ups to the even more perfect chord progression.
21:03 starting to slide into the crazy high note. 21:24 high note hit. soooo high!!
Mackenzie Lewis Blood and tears sounds like a decent down a cosmic well
this + rainymood = amazing things. the best thing tbh.
Some parts were really, really magical
Entering a ancient nord hall in Skyrim be like: 5:00
It's 2023 now, but I used to listen to this version when it first came out, on my office job, as a way of procrastinating at work and taking my mind off the stress of the job. Amazingly calming and beautiful.
....I feel like this would fit perfectly with any Lord of the Rings Elf-y soundtrack.
it's like listening to M83 :p
+Jessie Perkins YESSSSSSSSSS :D reminds me of a very slow safe or moonchild
xXgtagod369Xx nailed it
puts to .25 speed.
or 2 speed :D
In 2 speed its damn awesome, but the sound is not optimised. Great work though.
So you can't hear anything?
*vertiginous applause*
IT SOUNDS FREAKING TERRIFYING
0:00 when you see your favorite tv character die after so many seasons of them being on
This literally reminds me of every favorite tv/movie character that have died ever. Ugh. This makes me sad.
I think your profile pic explains this better
Mercoledi Wulffe The beauty of this is that you could use this as technically the background music to like a character reliving memories with that dead character. Its so amazing.
The vocoder part is a lot more than just octaves. There's a lot I-V chords (C-G-C, G-D-G, A-E-A, F-C-F) spanning multiple octaves (3-4 depending on part), and some minor 7th and 9th in places, namely the outro.
Medevah Wow. That's... frightening properly o.o
MLGzwibak Why is this frightening?
Medevah Indeed! Immi plays the vocoder THROUGH a keyboard, so she's able to do a lot more with her voice than just octaves :)
***** You are correct. I'm simply pointing out that the song isn't nearly as complicated musically as your ears want you to believe. Imogen is brilliant in most everything she does.
The verse progression is a I V vi IV in the key of A (one of the most used/overused chord progressions in all of music - look up the "Axis of Awesome" 4 chord song). But she decorates the chords with a lot of 7ths and 9ths and close harmonies (m and M 2nds) to spice things up.
this song lets me see in between the cracks of reality with my third eye. there's light there. blinding light
neon catdragon everyone has a third eye silly. it's buried in the center of our brains and i believe is called the pineal gland. it's actually a remnant from our reptile/amphibian past.. supposedly. but of course over millions of years of evolution we've buried ours deep; but some would say it can still be utilized under certain conditions. it allows us to "see" things outside of our normal reality. and a singularity WOULD definitely be bad if i were somehow able to open one here.. fortunately though i was speaking more about just taking a look into the "outside" of what we know as reality. black holes are black (or more actually they aren't black, they're nothingness). blinding light is quite different. (i'm being very tongue and cheek btw ;)
wat fuk
Can you just take a picture?
does it have a playlist?
1:50 , death angels opening their mouths ready to take my soul
+joocu BUT NOT THROUGH YOUR MOUTH
+Sylvael2002 lloollololo
nice
+joocu amazing comment
Of all the “800% slowed” videos I’ve seen this one is the best for sure. Insanely ethereal. Ig the Skyrim song is a close second
These kinds of videos are great cause you can literally float in a chord for a while and enjoy it
24:58 when you finally find your third eye lol
21:04
when you... feel..
your chakra.....
Help mee
where was it?
let me guess, under the couch cushions with a remote you have never seen before, a marble, a slice of carrot, a newspaper folded in half but spread out, a match, a hairpin and some 100s and thousands amognst so much hair and fluff you feel quite embarrassed. an existential crisis comes over you and you drop the cushions and sit down going over everything that just happened leading up to this point. you clutch at your heart in fear you may be dying, sweat starts tompour from your glands and the mouth is dry and cakey... you better get a glass of water and lay down.
God bless
@@henrylinks1087 aha. it was actually thrown behind an old homeless man's cardboard bed. police found it and took into custody after the old man died in the blizzard the night before.

That’s the first thing I thought of when I heard that
I'm pretty sure I just made a mental connection with another version of myself in a parallel universe.
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard in my life. I imagine when the fight has left me, I can no longer hang on then this symphony will play and nothing will matter any more. Only light and eternal love. Peace.
I listened to it all the way through sober. Anyone else?
Juice0fTheBarley yep!
Here
No, but don’t worry I had a designated listener just to be safe.
Juice0fTheBarley I am. I wish people listened to Ambient music and just experienced it..without taking..drugs or things like that.
@@anteros__ agreed
It's really pretty when you play the original song over this.
I love, love, love this video. I listen to it every often when I feel sad. It's extremely calming. It's the weirdest, most amazing things we find comfort in during dark times.
23:03 Mmm whatcha say
Glen Carpenter Music da real mvp
Glen Carpenter Music HOW FUCKING ORIGINAL.
Black bear What do you mean? I time stamped the point in the song I thought most people would be looking for.
Glen Carpenter Music and I was! Thank you
4:25 I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IM AT
Spin me round comes at 4:58 so
brooo this is the exact thought i had at that exact part of the video ...what
it sounded like the body of the person wasn't breathing and it got restored back too life
Holy cow this is beautiful! Its very eerie in some parts too. I think its interesting how some parts definitely sound like instruments.
god, this is so gorgeous. especially the mmmmm's of the mmm whatchyaa sayyy parts
I just now realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.
The "string of lies" to "hide and seek" transition from 17:38 - 19:00+ is wild
I imagine this as the hero's song on his death bed in a movie
and a baby is born
and the sun bursts through the clouds after long rain and butterflies steal your cups...wait, bastards stole my cups... who knew they could even do that...wtf.?
where are they taking my cups?
what do they want with cups anyway, they're butterflies for gosh sake

Am I the only one who thinks this kind of sounds like a pipe organ at points?
Jourdan Peters It's odd but her voice kinda mimics one when slowed down like this! Very pretty!
this is oddly soothing wowie
the whole edited song is simply beautiful!
It's been a while since I've heard something this amazing.
Reminds me of the LIMBO Soundtrack. Stunning
Every note and every change has been individually crafted
I was laid in bed in the dark listening to this and rubbed my tired eyes.
Suddenly I was transported to a new beautiful dimension!
This is insanely calming, enlightening, exciting, profound..... thank you for doing this... who would have known.... :)
This is so calming....
This is stunning. I left my usual stuff playing and picking up whatever links from anywhere, and it got to 13 mins and I thought 'what is this lovely music?'. Thank you.
No joke, this is legit helping me with getting the notes for my cover. So thank you for posting this :)
Wow. So beautiful and enchanting. I like it!
This is already one of my favorite songs, now I love it even more ❤
I feel like this is the music I'll hear when I die
I am enjoying this sooooo much. Thank you.
I never expected it to be this amazing
This is so amazing! I love Hide and Seek but this is pure genius!
So... fucking beautiful....
Listening to covers of this song with this in the background is really cool
A slow motion video to this song would be awesome.
Sylas like in Melancholia. Excellent movie the second, third, and fourth time. High frame rate and slow motion was both unsettling and mesmerizing.
Such beauty.
this actually sounds amazing
It...actually....genuinely...brings tears to my eyes.
Really cool. Sounds awesome.
Hauntingly beautiful.
I could listen to this all day while trippin. Simply amazing!!!!

it has been 3years...have you stopped listening to this yet?
the world needs answers asap.

This is great to do homework to. Enough going on that it's soothing and enjoyable, yet without being distracted.
Check out seven lions. His music is really good for homework and relaxing but still very powerful
GREAT for meditation.
Thats exactly the point there. You literally had me on that one
I swear there's an aspect of her voice/soul...I dunno what it is that is literally otherworldly and it's NOT simply bc all of the synth and tuning...her bare voice is quite remarkable in the most lovely and strange way. I rarely enjoy an artist so much as her and a choice few other talented ppl. I wonder if this is what ascending to Heaven feels/sounds like.
7:55 to about 9:30 is my favourite section, especially around 8:00, when it sounds like a perfectly harmonized choir.
why does this give me anxiety
I can't stand it either, feels like I'm shrinking from the inside
anticipation??
+2xplore1 I suppose... I'm quite impatient
Well, either this or the fact that we already know the song makes us crave for the right tempo !
+Solal Mallemont that too!
This is awesome!!
even at 2x speed, it's slow as fuck. 10/10 best video
This is probably one of the only songs you can listen to and still have it sound amazing and relaxing. Bravo
Surprisingly, this is actually quite relaxing.
Beautiful.
