Is Dying Light 2 Finally Worth it?

- Dying Light 2 has been through it. Rough launch, broken updates, community backlash. After all this time, we have to ask ourselves, has it all been worth it? After Dying Light 1, we expected a lot from Techland. I believe this game is very good and absolutely worth giving it a shot ESPECIALLY on PC. Console is in an awkward state currently but that gets fixed quickly.

Yes E3 version looked so promising. I think some of that content is getting repurposed in the upcoming updates.

You don't even know what that version would be buddy...scripted trailers aren't enough to go by. Now if you are taking about specific mechanics that would make sense but im sure the 2019 version of the game would be even more of a mess...
@@2genders-tk2ue hard scripted or not "buddy" that version would've been eventually be playable since it was a whole different build of the game, only things remaining from that game is the building textures and a few other things
The game is easily a 7/10 compared to it's predecessor, would be atleast 8.5/10 if DL1 didn't exist
I’d say wait untill February because everything on the roadmap will be added and they’ll likely do something special and prefect the what needs to be touched on the second anniversary update

My opinion is that its lowest in prob going to always be 50% off. I have over 100+ hours I would say to just wait until another couple months or so when the bigger updates come out or if you really want to play it you should just spend it. But in total 25 dollars or so on discount for 40+ hours of gameplay isnt that bad.

I'd say with mods, and with a discount, it is actually worth it. Without.. not so much. Mods add back things such as physics for infected when hitting them with melee weapons, etc.

The game is very fun, but it has flaws that the developers have committed themselves to fixing. They promised 7 years of content + updates. These videos are to help Techland understand where the community is coming from and what we are looking for. No hate here!

i've been thinking about this but i dont know if i should get the standard or ultimate edition because ultimate adds the story dlcs, what you think?
ultimate edition not only has the first dlc it has the second that will be released the next year , a comic of the lore , op weapons and more things , i only have the standard edition but do what you want
With this new update yea this gave us indeed worth playing and yes some bugs still need to be fixed
I wish the quests weren't glitched, makes it hard to get all of the collectables, and just other quality of life glitches make it a little irritating
I quit playing for 6 months or so but i started again just the other day and the nights are waaaay better than what it was imo

The world is really beautiful to explore.
But it just feels good for one playthrough...

yea its great they fixed the grapple hook... the thing you get once your 90 percent finished with the game. Maybe tencet will release some ultra deluxe dying light unlock where you get to use a grappling hook sooner. It will cost 2000 volatile coins or 150 bolter bucks. 19.99 or 9.99 if you buy the season pass dlc gold edition expansion bundle for novembers turkey zombie week discount.

This game was made with RTX in mind, not an old graphics card... I have a 2070 Super with i7 7900k. I have average of 90 frames with high graphics and global illumination. Had to disable flashlight raytracing but graphics are great non the less.
That’s good, the game does have a decent art style and pretty good visuals
The game is 100% worth it now, those who quit playing near release should replay

That’s good! Unfortunately I cannot say I’ve had as good of an experience, might have too fast of a play style.
But mistah white I love fighting entire Bandit Camp 1v10 and trying not to get beat to death. NPC ai a bit iffy I admit but human combat still pretty fun.
I haven't gotten it for no matter how much it costs because I don't like the direction of really tall buildings, the zombie change, no guns, boring NPCs and missions, etc. Even the upcoming guns won't be enough for me.
I'll be getting the superior fun of Dead Island 2 before this next year.
I just put in over 200 hours ,new game plus, most blue prints maxed and the game froze and said corrupt file and lost all my progress. No joke .

Im confused about human fights.
The way you can block, perfect block, dodge, grapple, vault is very good in DL2.
Especially in comparason to the original when human combat wasynt even a combat, it was a pain...
These aspects are better yes.

Humans in DL1 would just keep blocking and dodging Your stuff. To land a hit you need to spend insane amount of time. You fight people mainly with guns or throwable explosives...
Go back to the first game and find group of people and try for yourself. Maybe You just forgot.

Tbh I think downgrading the game for performance would be really bad, maybe for some of the consoles. Upscaling is basically magic, so why shouldn't devs use it? Like cyberpunk with the path tracing, frame gen and allat, it just makes the game run significantly better.
It makes it run better and in cases like Cyberpunk I guess there is an exception since they’re pioneering the usage of those technologies. However, it’s being used as a crutch rather than an assist for those who are on older hardware. If software development is not at a point where the games can be run on the hardware natively, what’s the point in even pushing to do it? There are so many other sides of game development that will sell the experience. For example, a map that isn’t copied and pasted everywhere you go (DL2) They could cut out half of the map and you would not notice. My point is, devs should use tactics and tricks to maximize the look of their game, but because of the uproar of the availability of these technologies and UE5, I’m finding that more and more games are becoming blurry/ghosty messes because of upscaling. Let me play natively! (without spending an arm and a leg plz)

It's not the devs fault it's the bosses at techland they are the one who's rushing everything and not giving the devs anytime to properly make the game run on old gen/low end pcs
Plus this is a new gen game it would literally impossible for it to be perfect on old gen

@@leahmurray4897I remember the bo3 fiasco quite well lol that was definitely an oversight from Activision. But the thing with the performance is there are not only visual inconsistencies, but sound errors as well. For months on my Xbox Series X I’ve my game sound breaks and it turns into a crackly staticky mess of jumbled audio. I’m not the only one to experience this either. There is a loading screen in the middle of the map when gliding over to the other side of a river. There are loads of camera bugs and teleporting glitches on console. As far as upscaling goes, it’s a hit or miss with some people. Some believe it breathes a new life into older hardware, some think it’s used as a crutch. My opinion is developers are using it to just squeak by with the performance. You do have a point with the investors and publishers crunching the developers to a position where that’s an area where they can alleviate some of the development. Does that mean I have to be happy about it? At the end of the day, many of us paid $60+ on an incomplete game that is still broken for so many players to this day. I’m happy with where it’s headed, but there are objective issues with the development tactics and the performance.
@@jdauk04 I mean yeah, when it's used well it's awesome but most games do use it as a crutch. The dl2 map is terrible unfortunately, rather they make it half the size than this ai generated copy paste

Serious question here what if i dont have friends to play with is there a auto co op finder to do multiplayer with random people and for tower raid and even regular story, i played DL1 but was debating to get DL2 untill now seems like i will after this review.
Yes! There is an online tab where not only you can automatically be placed into a match, or you can use the server browser to pick one of your liking. Though, depending on what you plan on, your experience with these things may vary. Hopefully with the co-op updates they make the online services more consistent and reliable,
Have 1200 hours in the game and haven't tired of it. And playing a couple of hours every day

Human combat sucked way more in dl1 imo.
They could just block mid attack and you could waste an entire stamina bar on them, aswell as attacking them just feels like you spam click until they stop moving and nothing more
That happens more in the second.

Hard agree. Human combat in DL1 was just awful, especially early game.
I play this game like I am playing Devil May Cry 5, use every attack in the game for cool combos. B)
Sometimes I feel people are coping about dying light 1 being better in every way. The human combat in DL1 was awful. Huge step up.
Honestly I don’t have an issue on ps5 but… last gen is where console versions of the game disappoints because the performance are so laughable on them. They shouldn’t have released on last gen. DL1 was meant to release on ps3 and Xbox 360 but they decided to make it next gen only which were Xbox one and ps4 at the time so that their game will be a better experience then the do the complete opposite with dying light 2 it’s so disappointing lol.
Yeah it was probably because more they were hoping it would generate more sales. The strange part is, I believe there *WAS* no cross-gen progression. I think I saw a tweet from the official Dying Light account that cross-gen progression is coming soon. Even still, for there to be none is a bit odd if you ask me...

dl2 is worth but there r some downsides , the story is mid ig it has alotta flash backs as u said but the thing I don't like is the stun locks , stun locks are cRAZYY especially when encountering human fights like if u get hit with a power attack u are 90% dead☠️☠️

bro im lvl 9 i maxed out everything except the legend lvls nd my health but it dont matter stun lock is stun lock. i once bugged outta the map bc of the goofy "power attacks". but yes it is kinda my fault

They do tell you why being a pilgrim was such an advantage... Being a pilgrim means you were out in the world in the most harsh landscape of desolation and constant threat of the most mutated of monsters. Being a pilgrim means you survived the worse of the worse.
I know they TELL you but there’s nothing to show for it really. No flashbacks or playable sequences of those harsh times. Just the city that everyone else is able to live in. Yeah you conquer the VNC tower but as a player that didn’t feel nearly as cool to me as climbing the tower in DL1 near the end of the story
Modern storytelling = tell don't show. Good storytelling = show don't tell.

If you want to get an ERROR on PS5 after 80hours of playing the game and lose everything and start from waaaaaaay back like it happened to me today after all those years they didn't fix it then yes IT WORTH! Disappointed in those scaming company
In my opinion, that's why it didn't do as good because they tried to focus too much on the combat and story with actual people than zombies, and then it took away from the zombies aspect, and then the combat suffered when fighting both because they weren't sure who their demographic was of what people were wanting they weren't sure if we want more mercenaries in the human aspect or more zombies and the first one leaned heavily on zombies and this one's leading more on the human aspect and I feel like that's where they're getting away from it I hope part three kinda goes back towards the zombies again
I keep thinking about the story, did anyone actually TURN into a zombie that was a character in the story? Did we watch anyone go from human to zombie like Rahim and Jade did from the first?
