R.I.P Fred Astaire (May 10, 1899 - June 22, 1987). You were always a great Narrator and actor. You will be greatly missed.... but never forgotten.
Lsjahdhsjjwbzzb❤🎉
I've heard many different versions of this song over the years, but no one has even come close to matching Fred Astaire's rendition.
I Completely Agree! :-D
There is something seriously wholesome about it.
Love the little flute part too lol
I downloaded a version done by an older Stevie Nicks & Chris Issak a couple years ago but I choose Fred for ever & ever. #1
Colonel Mustang the one that comes close for is Burl Ives' version
I’ve been saying that for years
I think every Christmas song belongs to one person or band, depending on what you listen to, and this song definitely belongs to Fred Astaire
The very best version of this song
#facts
Ahhh Fred Astair. Love this old classic they don't make them like this anymore
I've always loved that vehicle he drives!
I have a rare Christmas toy set of this vehicle and Fred Astaire is its postal driver with creatures and surround setting.
Thats amazing
That speech at the beginning is one of my favorite scenes in the special. It's honestly one of the deepest analysis of Santa and why we still celebrate him even after we find out he's a fictional character based on a real person. It's because you either see him two ways:
1. A commercial seen as representation of the dark side of Christmas.
2. A symbol of giving and faith that makes lessons like that fun to learn when you're little.
I didn't know Fred Astaire did this until I revisited. He sure did a good job.
Just found out myself. A real legend
@@maximusw01 Yea, he really adds a certain charm to it that lives on to this day that makes it a real classic.
Me either 😮
Fred Astaire put the legend of Santa Clause exactly on the Tee
Anyone else watch this, Frosty, and Rudolph on Freeform whenever they do the 25 Days of Christmas?
👍
Legendary, Iconic the phenomenal Fred Astaire 💋👍👍🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
One of my favorite Christmas songs sung by Fred astair ever
Happy 52nd Anniversary "SANTA CLAUS IS COMIN' TO TOWN" (DECEMBER 14, 1970)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (R.I.P. Mickey Rooney and Fred Astaire)
0:42 Wow, this is like, really moving actually
This is the only version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town that you're allowed to listen to
Wish this version was available on Apple Music
It's December 24th 2019, Merry Christmas!!!🌲⛄
Beau Weaver: Be sure to stay tuned after the feature for a special program: “The Story Behind Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.”
Taken from Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town 1997 VHS.
the only version we ever listen to when we were growing up in my house. it is never Christmas unless you here from Fred and then Santa is sure to come to your town.
This finale has me tearing up every year. 🥺❤
Happy birthday Fred Astaire(1899-1987)

Merry Christmas 🎄 🎅
Great quality version!
Do tv networks still air these old classics during Holidays?
They did in the 90s. I understood these old clips were classics when I was kid. It made no difference, because without these classics, Christmas wouldn't have had the same impact.
Boy, I'll tell ya - I've never wanted to step into a time machine more so than I do now. I miss simpler times. I miss old traditions that nearly seem to be canceled out by modern society.
You know, as of late, I've wondered if our perception of the world, during our youths, was more exciting and extravagant, because as children, everything was such a big deal. It's as if there was a magic within. I miss that feeling, where our imaginations were full of endless possibilities, where are the impossible was possible. Magic was real! I once lied beneath a Christmas Tree so that I could stare up at the multi-colored lights through the tree branches, consumed of Christmas ornaments. You have to understand, as a child, to me, that moment to me was so magical, I nearly felt as though a fairy dust substance would swirl around me and I'd disappear, as I would then rapidly travel through time and space to the North Pole itself. I thought for sure I was going to meet Tim Allen A.K.A. Santa Claus in 1994.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I wonder if Christmas, and Holidays in general, were a bigger deal in the 70s/80s/&90s as oppose to current times, and if they were, was it because we as children perceived it that way, because everything was a vastly bigger deal? Or is it because Holidays in current times don't quite compare?
Personally, I believe Holidays were just better 30 years ago. People got out and took the initiative. Christmas lights and other holiday displays were more common. It seemed as though in any given neighborhood, you saw Christmas lights everywhere. Family dinners were more common. Old traditions were more common. Hanging ornaments together as a family was more common.
You know... all as mentioned above is so uncommon in current times, I find myself here, in search for nostalgia, trying to feel even a glimmer of the warmth and the magic I once felt.
I miss simpler times...

My all time favorite Christmas🎄special 🎅
My favorite Christmas movie of all time! Loved this since I was a kid
Some version says "he knows if you've been good or bad" instead of "bad or good" and it didn't sound right so I came here to double check if somebody changed our timeline again..
This is going to be my favorite Christmas song for a long time. Does anyone know where I could purchase it?
I'm five hundred and seventy-three and watching this makes me feel like I'm a hundred and thirty.
So true. Needed now more than ever.
When kringle sings the song, my favorite part after he says you better not pout, the kids ask why. He goes (with a little attitude) I'M TELLING YOU WHY 😂
This and Frank Sinatra's version are arguably my two favorite versions of this song.
You better watch out, You better not cry, You better pout I'm telling you why. Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. Love that Christmas special from 1970.
This cartoon is my childhood
Merry Cristmas Everyone! Don't allow anyone to rob you of your joy this Christmas! ❤🎄❤
I never realized this was Fred Astaire until now.
Merry Christmas to 2019
AND 2022!!☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️🎅🎅☃️🎄
very best Christmas song ever
I was 11 years old then, a very long time ago.
They really don’t make movies like they used to...this movie was so heartwarming, and the absence of similar movies today is absolutely heartbreaking...
I love this movie
I appreciate it , God and Fred
1:00 I always cry when I hear that.🥺😭🥹 I truly wish for peace on Earth. 🌎🪽
this is the infinitely best version of the song I've ever heard. easily.
Agreed I always like the way Fred Astaire sang this song.
I third that
And what a pity it’s not available on CD, digital download or streaming. It will keep me coming here!
No it's not
Fred had a really smooth voice.
Yes he did. Absolutely perfect!
He was a smooth dancer too.
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year
At 50 years old I still look forward to watching this. In a world of uncertainty, one thing for sure is that we give as told by Fred Astaire, perhaps the world would be a better place.
I always tear up at the opening part.
Will still sit down an watch this at 21 years of age, loved this as a child
Vino 21 tyyuu juuiu
Classic
Me
I like listening to this year round! 🌲
17 now
Well, by 1970 maybe Astaire couldn't have danced like he did in the 1930s, but that voice still sounded as young as ever.
He might have been able to, he was only in his early 70s when this came out
There's a clip of him dancing at the 1970 Oscars here on CZcams, and he could still do it at 71 years old.
i have watched this every year for 16 years
This is a classic! I am 47 years old and still enjoy watching this every Christmas. This is one of the best!
It's my favorite Christmas movie. i could watch it all year long but i try to keep it a tradition.
I've still watch them all I am 52 makes my heart happy🎄🙏🎁❤
I am 52 and I agree with you! What a time to be young and experience all the wonderful shows that were around at that time! 🤗
I'm 58 and this is still my favorite and this song always brings out poignant memories of my childhood Christmas years.
One of the classics. Even if not in high resolution, for many of us out here, it's still just as good. Remember, we all watched these and fell in love with them before 720p existed, and we watched them on old TVs, some with bad reception before cable. Move the rabbit ears a little, there's still some snow! ;) Merry Christmas.
Ok
+humbleradio Exactly!!
Miss Fred Astaire
Christmas was just last week and you know what I'm looking forward too now?
NEXT YEAR'S CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Emma Boudreaux I agree Emma Boudreaux, Christmas is a Sensational time of the year, maybe even the best time of the year! I love it!
Emma's Beauty Channel well it's coming up now😂
Reminds me of my childhood. Sitting on the floor in front of the TV. Such good memories.
im 45 & still watch these wonderful classics all my life
Fred Astaire had such a great voice! Can't wait to watch this again in a couple more months!!!
This was/ and is still my favorite Rakin N Bass special.
So wonderful, so nostalgic. Makes my heart warm and sad at the same time. Can’t wait for Christmas this year.
Melanie Anne Ahern you said it!
Silent Night
Melanie Anne Ahern 6 more months ! 🎅🏻🎁🦌🎄🍪🥛☃️
Christmas is the most magical time of the year
Melanie Anne Ahern is
I remember I use to watch this exact video when I was a kid. Those beautiful memories I will never forget.
This was always my favourite Rankin/Bass cartoon!
one of the best christmas shows in history and i still watching it every christmas.
GOD, this brings back memories. :)
This song was written back in 1934. BTW, the original songwriters, John Frederick Coots (1897-1985) and Haven Gillespie (1888-1975) were still alive when this special premiered in 1970 (Coots was 73 and Gillespie was 82). It makes me wonder what they thought of this.
It's 2015 and this is still accurate.
+Christina Toto And it always will be.
This will be accurate forever
Christina Toto 2018 and still accurate even now.
I have always like this special and I think Fred Astaire sung this song the best.
nothing beats the classic's like this :)
I love this movie, it's a Christmas classic
Very true besides Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
Takes me back to my childhood :)
Fred would've made an incredible Christmas album, had he gotten the chance to.
I just love it...Bing, Fred, Burl and Ella, The Rat Pack OMG so many memories of my childhood & sharing the classics with my children every year (even though they are 16, 17 and 20 now)
Brings back Childhood memories :)
This gives me so much nostalgia . I remember going to my aunt's house for a big family Christmas party watching all these specials.
i love this song !
Great memories. Can't wait to introduce this movie to my nieces and nephews. Thank you, Daddy, for showing these movies when I was little.
when Fred tells you to behave yourself, you better. I guess 10 people would rather watch Justin Beiber style his hair than watch the joy and happiness that this special shows us. We love you Freddy :)
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
I love it! Jolly jolly jolly
Another one of my favorites for Christmas. I watch it every year. Brings back so many memories of my childhood. I am almost 50 now and will keep watching it for the rest of my life.
Happy holidays to everyone
This best version of this song and if not even close
Love FAstaire's voice. Perfect for this show!🎄
My favorite Christmas special when I was a kid! Tells the whole story, great music and characters.
the beginning of this makes me cry
This scene always brings on the tears for me, I think this has to be my favorite bit out of all my childhood Christmas specials.
I've always enjoyed the extended version of the song this special made.
Just love it Oh the memories of being a kid
I wish this showed behind the scenes of when he voiced this.. I love Fred Astaire
This is one of my favorite movies about Santa clause ever and i still enjoy seeing it today!!!
It needs to be Christmas
Wonderful!
Can't wait till Christmas! :D I love this movie! :)
Happy 10 days 'till Christmas! :D
well isnt this just ridiculously cute
I remember seeing this song when I was little... I STILL LOVE IT!!!!
I forgot how much the narrator actually LOOKED like Mr. Astaire!
After 1 hour searching this song, i must to said what this is the best version
merry Christmas y'all and a happy new year 2014
A massive concrete block of childhood memories just smashed in my face...oh those were the days.
Thanks Fred people like you make the world a happier place.
My 22 month old daughter and I have watched this clip together about 30 times in the past few weeks. It's such a joy to see this again, and tyo share it with my little one, who seems to dig it just as much as I did as a child. They don't make 'em like they used to!
Every year on abc, I always sit by the tv and watch these classic's! it just makes me feel so warm and brought the kid in me again. I'm 20 years old now!
