"I killed a chieftain today."
To be fair, the chieftain was kind of horrible to the people. I’d say the biggest 180 degree turn was when he kind of arbitrarily decides that he’s going to make an empire, and starts planting infants.
@@benniotto dude basically pulled a reverse hit.ler, instead of trying to invade already well established countries and commit mass slaughter as quickly as possible. he invaded a place that was far behind every other civilization and tried to grow it's population as fast as possible through cruel f-ed up means.

I love when the Keter-type SCPs have *nothing* on the cruelty of human nature.
I mean... does _anything_ really?
You know a topic is brutal when the Sarkic elements are mellow by comparison.
Colonialism is an absolute unit of horror on its own right.
And unlike the Sarkic cult, Colonialism is as real as it can get
@@aribantala as a Brit myself, our Colonial past is not taught to us and we are given an amnestic version of our history. Eryly similar to an SCP cover up.
@@glennwilson6435 To be fair, Colonialism is not as horrible as you might think it is. The British brought modern engineering wonders like Railroads/Modern transportation, electricity, modern medicine that works and more to the less developed world as well as stopping BRUTALLY HORRIFYING culture norms of the locals. (example of India's old practice of murdering widows once their husbands die by burning them alive). Was there unfair and cruel treatment of the locals? Yes, but I say that is basically how the world works and there is little anyone can do about it.
@@theprofessorkeen1911 Pretty much. I'm Nigerian and the only reason we have electricity today is due to colonialism. If the industrial revolution never left the British Empire, we would still be stuck in the stone age.
@@theprofessorkeen1911 sure ig there may be some upsides but if you look at the horrors of residential "schools". No human, much less a young child, deserves to be treated that way. If you every listen to surviors stories they are absolutely horrific and are entirely the result of colonialism. Colonialism is solely responsible for many genocides(both literal and cultural).
as someone from a southeast asian country thats a former colony its rlly cool to see an scp where a colonialist, even a supposedly well meaning one, just sort of fucks up everything by trying to force a supposedly better way on life for no reason lmao
no omelet without breaking few eggs
@@iamtired4974 Except in this case the omelet is a global hegemony catering to the whims of the few at the top and eggs are people. But yeah, you know, basically the same thing.
It's just nice to see a story where the colonizer isn't sanitized and put as "well meaning" and therefore right even as they do the same shit as all the others before them. No matter how anyone tries to put it, "civilizing" foreign cultures is always about erasing them and assimilating them.
Im glad this author steered away from that and displayed how wrong it is to do.

Ah yes, another installment in the “Are the Foundation Really the Good Guys” series.
It would be pretty weird if they were, what with the things they ("have") to do.
44:44
@@Jomi91 Not terribly surprising, given the enforced isolationism the Foundation has foisted on them. And keep in mind, Sarkites are basically not allowed to even publicly exist in most of the countries of the world, so it’s not as though they haven’t been in the receiving end of similar treatment.
It's an odd balance. On one hand they are truly terrible for what they do to D-class, and how they contain anything and everything that doesn't make sense. But on the other hand they're also good for stopping true horrors from flattening humanity. There basically not good or evil, just kind of neutral and necessary in their own universe.
Another awkward question
This is one of my new favorite SCPs. I’m so used to thinking of sarcist as cultist bad guys, but seeing them humanized as a people and a culture is so different. I love it.
That's cause these folk seem more like old sarkics. It's the new school sarkics who live urban lives who appreciate intrigue and schemes.
@@josejaimes-ramos1546the ones in Russia were also pretty brutal
@@DreadBirate if you're talking about Orok's Fall then those are also modernist. Traditional Sarcites are cool everywhere, just don't disturb their ordinary anomalous life
SCP-4036 is sickening and tragic, in a beautifully well written way.
This scp is so sick, I love that the writing is good enough to really conjure that feeling in you.
Sarkic and Keter are always good.
My favorite combo. Especially when you throw in K-Class scenarios.
My fav combo as well. Body horror is probably my favorite sub genre.
I personally don't consider any of these in my headcannon, don't like them.
Love this SCP, super happy to see it get the Volgun treatment!
Man I hope you make an eas about this scp
The ending suggests the entire rivalry is a masquerade. This draws parallels so well given how our own media periodically runs 'distractions' when needed. I just love how statecraft is depicted here. Nothing goes as intended and sinister finds a way in
It's a draft. Therefore I think this is a treaty that WOULD be signed if the Foundation were defeated, as outlined at the start of the document.
@@Marconius6Document drafts include the expected signatories at the end?
@@chinerpeton Yes? Like the place where they'd sign, basically.
I like how this nation is diplomatic quite rare in the SCP universe for these sorts of countries
"Again, my english is poor, so I apologize for the incorrect word." She said in perfect english and goes on talking with perfect grammer, pronounciation and without stuttering or searching for words. Love you Volgun!
Yeah those bits where the only part that didn't really 'work' for me in this video.
Reminds me of Christoph Waltz in Django Unchained, "Please forgive me, it is a second language." As he speaks with perfect diction and is much more fluent than the southerners.

"No violence, I abhor violence. I just want a peaceful cleansing of the nation is all." Damn, sounds like a true religious person about to commit a holy war/crusade
I adore these longer videos! They are awesome for listening to while i do chores or work!
I appreciate the new subtitle display, when it was scrolling text I would always read ahead of the narration and spoil myself
Wow, didn’t think I’d be greeted by the horrific depiction of colonisation and the destruction consequences that followed with the result being the SCP. This was really good listen

Houses made of flesh and bone is one thing but homosexuality???? Now that's just to much
I really like the "SCP foundation does colonialism/ capitalism/etc. and it doesn't go well" stories because the main text usually has a lot of interesting real world connections.
Honestly the single weirdest thing about this one the use of the word "filibuster" as though it describes a group or category of people and not an action people can perform.
Repeatedly calling a country itself illegal was also pretty weird- who gets to decide an entire nation has no legal right to exist?
That's exactly what Russia is trying to do to Ukraine right now, what Israel has done to Palestine, what the US did to the indigenous Nations. Deny their sovereignty, colonize their lands, imprison or deport the indigenous populations until so few remain that their culture is all but a memory.
Paradoxically other nations kinda do. There are tons of countries, both now and in the past that have been considered "illegitimate" and as such have been the target of bigger and more power hungry nations for conquest and exploitation, or supposed states that claim sovereignty but are denied it because it is within the bounds of a previously established nation. A very real example is the relationship between China and Taiwan nowadays. China (and it's allies) view Taiwan as a rogue state, and infringing on it's land, while Taiwan itself and various other powers (such as the U.S. and the U.K.) acknowledge it as it's own nation.
Nations after all are constructs, ideas more than actual real things. It's entirely based on majority consensus really, and we give them power by our belief in them and in the adherence in their laws. After all when people lose faith in a nation it is often when it collapses.
The bit about filibuster is weird though, not sure what is going on there.
@@vileone13 "... within the bounds of a previously established nation."
Isn't that... literally just any piece of land on the planet? I can see why these things get messy
@@wumbosaurus9121 Pretty much. The entirety of the Palestine/Israeli conflict kinda centers around who recognizes which nation as being legitimate (among centuries of religious and vengeance based conflict as well) for example. Geopolitics can get super messy, since much like alot of things it's based entirely upon agreement and not on any hard physical laws.
As of today there are (if I remember correctly) at least a dozen illegitimate/illegal/"Trust me dudes, they are just squatters on _MY_ land" around the world, Cataluña for Spain and Taiwan for China, also you have stuff like Israel and Palestine who are each illegitimate according to each other, that's both funny and depressing if you think about it.
LOVE the new text layout. Much easier to follow along with. 👍

Did you perform all of the voices, female and male, in the interview portion of the article? I could have sworn that a majority of them seemed to share your patterns of diction but otherwise sounded authentic - and I don't see credits for any other voice actors anywhere in the description or video. If so... as a fellow voice actor, major props. And also wow do I want to know your secrets.
I have a feeling he uses an AI filter over his voice. This would line up with what you said and also the fact that's he's been using a lot of AI image generation for a while now.

Great....we already had Karcist's Leech Vampires in Eastern Europe, and now we've got Flesh-Benders in Polynesia.
Whats next? A small farming community of Flesh Golems in Nebraska?
Dont forget those flesh crafters in urals.
Actually, there was a community of Nälkän called the "Church of the Scorched Earth" that lived in the Nevada desert, it had okay relations with the US and had signed a treaty, but when WW2 was declared, the treaty they had signed allowed the US to send every young man to war, they all died and the remaining population launched an uprising, after a while, progress could not be made, so the US decided to nuke the uprising under the guise of nuclear testing.

I gotta applaud the effort and skill that goes into these. I love the voice acting and the creativity makes me know psychedelics were involved XD love it all, keep it up!
Oh man. This one hurts. It has been a minute since I’ve listened to an SCP that chilled me to my bones, and this one made me tear up at least three different times. The colonization parallels are heartbreaking, knowing that actual people on our planet have gone through scenarios like this (sans plant babies) numerous times over. It’s so painful, and yet nowhere near as painful as being a native who experienced such trauma - such inhumane treatment. All in the name of the “greater good”, of providing “economy to the barbaric”. Rest in peace to the indigenous lost. You deserved so much more. You deserve so much better.

After the assessment of the data provided to me in my survey, I do not believe that this SCP specimen, 4035, deserves a Keter class rating. Maybe SCP-4036 still deserves Euclid rating, because of the strong possibility of a SK-lifted vail scenarios, but nevertheless, especially with the normalization treaty in mind, it doesn't consist of any possible that, other than aforementioned, that would mark it as deserving of Keter class. In conclusion, I believe that SCP-4036 should be reclassified as ether safe or Euclid, preferably safe due to my understanding of foundation beurocracy, however this should be put under review as I have had experience with memory problems.
