  • Tora Leaves (Taikilo, Tagate Soppu, Tajank Soppu) grow abundantly during the monsoon season. The tender leaves are harvested and used in many recipes. Ambado is one of the popular recipes which tastes wonderful. It is served as a side dish to rice and dal. Do give this recipe a try and let me know how it turned out for you.     Ingredients:
    Taikilo (Tora leaves), packed - 1 cup (you can substitute amaranth leaves)
    Sonamasuri rice - 1 cup
    Grated coconut - 1 Tbsp
    Byadgi Dry red chilli - 6-7
    Tamarind - marble sized
    Salt - To taste
    Coconut Oil - For deep frying

      @@LakshmiCanteen hello, I also had same question. Good ur friend gave. Do u know how they got the plant ? I searched a lot in Etsy could not find it. Is there any other name for it that u know or how to grow sorry being a Konkani grew up eating this.

    They looked lovely as golden brown as she took them out of the oil. Then on the served plate they looked black or burnt. How come?🤔

      Hi Remas, it's because of the poor light. We realized it while editing. So couldn't correct it. Our bad. Re shooting the recipe is a lot of work. So uploaded as such. But I promise this recipe is a keeper. It's my mom's recipe and she has been making it for 40+ yrs
