- I want to do something different with this video. Often we reactors have things shared with us, and we love it. You can't do reactions or first time vocal analysis unless you thrive on people saying "you HAVE to listen to this!". But at times, we want to do some sharing too. Today I want to show you the singer who shaped a massive part of my vocal journey. Lets listen to Aaron Weiss be nothing short of an inspiration and see what we can learn.

MWY has been my favorite band for the past 12 years. Have literally never met a person in real life who has heard of them.
Same!!
Same, no one knows them anymore. I was lucky enough to see mwY on tour with Norma Jean and Beloved on a cold February night at the Revelation Room in Canton, TX 2003, and I’ll never forget that.
Also fuck the algorithm. This band changes lives.
Sorry for your loss man. My dog is my best friend. Hope you find some comfort.
Aaron is one of my professors, its always crazy to hear people talk about him from the other side as most of the students here don't actually know him for his music.
His guest vocal on Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste is still one of my favorite guest features. So good.
Mark we need this one. “He laid emeralds in her eyes, but I already tried a bracket made of gold”
My favorite feature of all time. I still get chills listening to that!
I was there !!!!!!
Seeing Mark without his usual ADD energy, being all serious and knowing that his family member is gone just hits different. Hugs beardbro!
A pleasant suprise to hear another metal dude who loves these guys as much as i do.....still heavy rotation after all this time- thank you....sorry about the pup- this hits too....
Flawless discography. Brother, Sister is one of the best albums ever. Aaron is a lyrical titan.
Now we’re talking. MewithoutYou has always been one of my favorite bands. Luckily I was able to see them a few times live and on their farewell tour. One of the best live bands I’ve ever seen.
I cannot adequately put into words how much this band means to me. Thanks for sharing and I hope a few people will be blessed by this album
Dude. Yes. 100% yes. Such an amazing band.
2:50 same here. alot of ppl who don't listen to metal seem to think it's just for angry or sad ppl but if im feeling those things i usually am not in the mood for metal. i enjoy metal the most when im feeling happy
This band has a flawless discography
I'm so sorry Mark for your loss. My own dog had to be put down because he was hurting too bad from extreme arthritis. My heart goes out to you
If you want to hear metal music with extremely emotional lyrics, check out Orphan, which is Strangled's new project. I would personally suggest "Dying Light" or "Memorandum".
I didn't think anyone else loved this band so much! To this day they are the only band I have ever seen live twice! Their songs are so raw and emotional. They have the uncanny ability to pull you into the song whether it's whispered words or screaming. By far my favorite band!
I've been able to see them 7 or 8 times. Saw em the first time in 2007. Got to see them on their farewell tour a few years ago. As good as their albums are, the live shows are amazing!
Thanks for sharing! Saw them three times late in their run. Honestly, I probably know 50% of Aaron’s lyrics. And probably can interpret less than that that. But you said it perfectly. You can feel the emotion and power just from his delivery. I enjoy this band so much.
MewithoutYou is one of my top 5. Love these dudes. Glad to see em make their way on here.
Love mewithoutyou , found them in high school way back when playing with the chariot.
Damn Mark, I’m so sorry you’re going through such a hard time with us but I’m glad you chose to share that loss with your community. I think I’m gonna go listen to mewithoutYou for the next several hours now, can’t believe I slept on those guys for so long.
Sorry for your loss, Mark. Having to get through the day like everything is normal when you're going through such a terrible time is always such an awful, dissonant experience. Here's one more like and comment at least to hopefully help with that fickle algorithm beast x
You talked about showing emotion in vocals while showing yours, so it's all within the theme. Thank you for the videos. I'm sorry for your loss.
mewithoutYou is perfect music when I am feeling down.
You can really hear how mark was influenced...just like this song, Kardashev/mark story tell with tone, emotion and immense vocal range.
Glass Phantoms comes to mind immediately.
The first time I saw Mewithoutyou live they played "C Minor"
The album version is already powerful when Aaron screams "Devil disappear!"
But I cannot in words describe the sheer power behind his voice when he screamed it live.
It felt as if the entire venue went through a literal exorcism.
MewithoutYou and Fair to Midland, both deeply influenced me lyrically. Hell yeah man.
Fair to Midland are creative magicians!
Too bad they dont make music anymore...
It's always exciting to see reactions to bands like this. While it's not the first band I think of for this sort of vocal style (that would be my favorite band, La Dispute), their music is still so good. I like seeing them get some more appreciation.
Dang man, I am so sorry to hear that brother.
Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
My condolences on your loss, also lost one of my dogs to cancer. Thanks for introducing us to this band, such an emotional vocal performance.
Sorry for your loss. Thanks for showing up and sharing from your heart. mewithoutYou is a band I got into later in my musical journeys, but hold a very special spot in my heart. The emotion and lyricism is always top notch theirs always so many levels and possible interpretations to ‘what it all means’ they truly are a band in a league of their own.
I always find it interesting to learn where other metal vocalists find their love for vocals because most of the time it comes from a place you'd never expect. I grew up in the 2000's and when I talk to other people who like doing harsh vocals who are similar in age to me, post hardcore and emo usually end up being the most common origin for vocal interest. Very cool to see yours even though it took a personal loss to show us.
Mine was Poetic Tragedy by The Used and The Artist In the Ambulance by Thrice
Sorry for your loss. I was very excited to see mwY / Aaron here, they don't get enough recognition. Thanks for spreading the good word.
Sorry for your loss man. So stoked to see someone remembering and touting this band! IMO, Catch For Us The Foxes is unparalleled and flawless! Probably a top five album all time for me, maybe top 3.
The opening of this video is so REAL.
I appreciate the hell out that. So often you see reaction channels or just youtube creators in general that are just phoning it in but you were a real person in the start of this video, Thank you!
So sorry about your pup. I've lost several in my life, it's heartbreaking every time, but I couldn't imagine life without a little fuzzy thing next to me all the time. Anyway, I'd love to see you do an analysis of some Sufjan Stevens! The only thing I know of him was he was a singer songwriter that one of my oldest friends used to talk about all of the time, but I was too punk at the time to appreciate it lmao I've grown up since then though 😂
Love to see some more MWY videos, too!
Didn’t expect this to be your fave. Respect! A totally unique and amazing band. Glad you’re showing this to a new audience bro 👊🏻
This was a treat. So cool to see this band, and specifically this album get some love. Hope you’re feeling better man
mewithoutYou is so beautiful. I didn't realize this last tour was a farewell tour, so i didn't go! But i did see the A:B Life tour
I love the discussion on the frychotamy in the metal scene. it would make my day if you looked into Kieth Buckley of Every Time I Die for emotional harsh vocals and damn near aaron weiss level writing (A fellow MWY lover)
Screw the algorithm, glad you do songs like this.
would love to hear your take on Nate from Finch or Daryl from Glassjaw
So sorry for your loss!
mewithoutYou is also my absolute favorite band of all time. I feel like they're definitely a band's band. Or in other words, I would wager that for a lot of people who listen to the many modern alternative rock subgenres, mwY is probably their favorite band's favorite band, if that makes sense.
I have SO MUCH trouble trying to pick a single favorite album of theirs. A->B Life, Catch For Us The Foxes, Brother Sister, and Pale Horses are tied for my favorite album of theirs, with the rest of their discography following closely in second, lol.
And mwY's live show? True, beautiful artistry. So sad that I'll never get to see them live again.
I’m glad that you’re staying strong mark, We love you brotha!
So sorry to hear about your loss, and thank you for sharing. Sending y'all all of the good vibes
I’m so sorry for the loss to you & yours, Mark. That really really sucks, man.
Sending much love and condolences!
Our dog is 13 years old now and whenever I have to take a longer trip because of my work I fear that her time comes when I am not around...
So sorry for your loss, Mark.. 🙏
This kind of reminded me of 36 Crazyfists. I would check them out. Some of their songs are pretty powerful and the vocals are definitely unique. Stay strong man
In the hardcore scene the vox sound more emotional. For example Shai Hulud
This is one of my favorite songs from one of my all-time favorite albums. Good choice.
Sorry about your dog, man. I know how much that hurts.
Thanks for the video Mark, we all appreciate you for what you do man.
Really sorry for your loss, Mark. Losing a friend like this is never easy and I (although I’m sure I can speak for many of us) appreciate your honesty and felt a special connection with this video.
As a side note, any video where you’re sharing your favourite music is my favourite to watch. Your video on Accursed by Vale of Pnath, The Cathedral by Black Tongue, any time you mention Lantlôs or LLNN, etc I just want to watch you share your analysis of those songs/bands. It shows how you as a musician and as someone who enjoys the music have analyzed the songs and lyrics and helps young and aspiring musicians expand their horizons. Thank you, and please continue to splice those songs and moments in amongst the trendy songs/bands.
Further side note: Sufjan Stevens is one of my all time favourite projects. Would love to hear you talk about something from Illinois or even the new album.
I am so glad someone elae knows mewithoutyou!
Mark, sorry for your loss. Thank you for introducing me to this band!
nice, yeah always loved this dude's voice
so sorry for your loss ❤😢
Spoken word lyrics are underrated and underutilized by most vocalists. Heaven Shall Burn - Numbing the Pain .. "If it only wasn't for this certainty in me. I am a giant in their tiny world" .. stuff like this at the right moment adds another layer to a song, more depth, impact.
im a big fan of being as an ocean. do you have any other spoken word bands you can recommend?
I think you can check out La Dispute. Especially their album Wildlife. Also Controller by Misery Signals has some spoken words iirc. @@beratugursolmaz264
Sorry for your loss. Pets have a funny way of becoming family.
We're not going anywhere. Metal isn't going anywhere. You got tons of people hoping you find the wellness you deserve, whether a break becomes necessary or not. (Also, fuck the algorithm.)

Wow your favorite vocalist dam i wss not expecting that list of vocalist 😮 my top 3 alone is Howard Jones 1# screaming singing pure fire 🔥 🤘 👀 my all time frav from my whole childhood and adulthood always phil ansalmo and my 3rd is rob halford the power metal heavymetal mfkn beast ! And them 3 is nowhere near the vocals i listen to brutaliful wise i listen to now expecclly deathcore and brutal deathmetal because its way diff then i grew up with but at least todays metal the groove. Is still thier even in modern 🤘 and im deathcore even today despised iron still my frav style of vocals 🤘
That's horrible man I'm sorry I'm almost at that point with my dog as well. It's heartbreaking.
Stay strong brother, we're all here for you.
Animal deaths are always those unexpected hurts. You know it’s coming but never know it to affect you as much as it does. Sadly, growing up on a farm our dogs never lasted more than a few years. The most recent one my dad grew him from a pup and went missing one day just before a blizzard. We think someone took him but I don’t think we’ll ever see him again. That was quite hard on my old man. Hope the days go easier, and I just gotta say I love this vids that are more in depth about YOUR favorites. Too bad the CZcams overlords don’t.
So sorry for your loss. My heart aches for you.
I fucking love sad metal,
And one of my fave bands was inspired by this one.
Death will Tremble.
im so sorry mark we love you
I wanna hear your hot takes Mark
Can you react and analyze Kaonashi's "I Hate the Sound of Car Keys"? Peter Rono is a very unique and interesting vocalist.
La Dispute captured that in their own way, inspired by me without you.
never asked for any kind of reaction but if by any reason you read this and thought "meh i guess ill pick a request from the comment section today" then i think you could react to some screamo/skramz bands
since you covered a lot of diferent genres inside metal and punk, the screamo vocals is something adjacent of grindcore but more (like the names says) emotional
i suggest something like Orchid - epilogue of a car crash
which is kinda cliche but a great example of emoviolence
Sorry for your loss man. But as a fellow song writer i bet you can write something cool for your pup. Best wishes.
And music wise this song in this is like hardcore vocalist singing over a soft version of a nonmetal tool 😅 but i liked it
There will always be more Timothy Hay
If you need to take time off take it man. I'm sure all of us understand
Salve do Brasil
I absolutely hated this band when they first came out. I still do, but I don't hate that others like them. I just don't understand why lol.
That was terrible
This is a band that when you finally listen to their lyrics, you’re a fan for life.
Ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq I haven't thought about this band in an offensively long time, thank you for this reminder
