Angeles City Philippines
About me : Retired American Expat Brian & Filipina wife Luisa, living in the Angeles City / Clark Pampanga Philippines.
The bet should be not you moving to the province but how long you can last
Shout out to the co-star. Meow
I’ll give you one bit of advice. I got my starlink out here in the Philippines a couple months ago and the dirty power here already fried the modem. Buy a UPS so it’ll keep clean power going to the starlink. I already replaced my modem and put it on a UPS and now I have zero issues.
Good for you. You're finally getting the hell out of that place.
❤
Brother , the first thing you buy in the province is a generator.
And noise canceling head phones
@@thomasodetinape4180 As foreigner living in the province this made me chuckle so true. Before you buy land or house check how many neighbours have OK unites. 😂
Yeah Brian I'll take your 50K on, See if tour still there on my arrival--Don't forget I am still wishing for you to take me to the Clark hospital Museum. And of cause snacks and drinks are on me. I am from Perth the riches City of Aussie.. Brian we're all ways surprised by how many people fall into the trap of paying high fees for features they don't use. As we all have to eat, So food is a great place to change your habits and save. Back in March they'll all ways pushing us to buy chips with our pizzas... Brian when you do give me 50k We will give to the street kids shelters. Cheers Brian, Many thanks..
That machete is essential in the province for sure...I bought one my first month here
Bought a starlink kit and firestick. Live in Claveria, Misamis Oriental Mindanao. Works great. You simply update address online if move.
I need Sun screen and bug spray and a place to get meat for the grill . Not moving to the provinces though because I want things like good restaurants, malls, people and entertainment and good hospitals
Best wishes to you and the family, definitely keep us updated on the move and Starlink once tou have settled into new place.
Thank you! Will do!
Starlink has many plans in the USA, some let you roam around in a motorhome and other plans are fixed, the price also varies. The prices are also higher here in the USA, I can't assume that the Philippines will be identical in their plans, so good luck with finding out what you need to do before firing that thing up.
*Thx4share informative content on Starlink Philly* 👍
👏 starlink good investment.
Brian what about health care, and medications out in the province? Also be aware of that focus and losing thought. Happens to me regularly now at 53. I was diagnosed with several mini strokes. Be well and see on the next video. ✌️🐻
I guessed what you needed when you said you were going to the mall , yes great product. Next you need his phone when it comes to the Philippines .
James from the Texas Filpino channel, knows all about relocating Starlink. I believe he brought his from the U.S. to the Philippines. Maybe you could reach out to him and ask.
I read an article on the internet where a woman was living on a boat and she also had starlink. She said she moved from one location to another with their boat and it didn't affect anything. Hope this helps.
Smart man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Most important thing to communicate with the family.Even if Starlink has limits at this time due to lack of satellites, It will only improve everyday. My experience Starlink will be much, much better than any internet available by far even if it is currently still being built. In province it took 12--16hrs to upload a 5 minute video in the province with local options.
Best of luck to you and the family Brian. Just returned after two weeks at our Green Acres place in Leyte and two weeks is about my limit. Back in the Penthouse on Park Avenue in Manila now. Even at our place in Leyte I can have breakfast and then Super Cat it to Cebu for lunch. You guys look like you're about to really be out in the Boondocks. Looking forward for the next chapter of your adventure.
I don't know how it works. But I do know RV-life people in the US who are from Maine and Vermont. They go to Arizona in the winter, and they take their starlink with them, and it works perfectly fine there.
Brian, you can relocate your dish. You will be required to update the location. It took me 3 conversations with support to get it, but you will also need to update your billing location as well. I’m in remote province and no address is used but LAT/LON coordinates.
Thanks for the info!
You can have your payment directly taken from your credit card or bank account so you don't have any interruption. When you get out into the provinces, you may not even have an address on your residence beyond the purok that you are in . Everything is done on your email address as far as your mail. That is what is nice about the mobile internet as all you do is set up the antenna, and an app on your phone will help adjust the trajectory. The Filipina pea has a blog on how to set it up as she has starlink mobile herself.
No way I'd live in province this stage of my life. I wasn't a fan when I was stationed here.
To each his own. But hope you secure some land and house for your family. Prices are going up.
Starlink mobile is awesome. You can virtually go anywhere and have an internet that is second to none. What channel or what game do you want to watch, and you can find it . China has their lame setup in the philippines, but satellite internet is the way to go if you are an adventurous person.
Good video. Looking forward to the next one
More to come!
James on Texas Filipino has a star link system.
Maybe it is me living in a big city in the US, but the one item I would pack with me when I move is a Glock - to keep honest people honest. Don't think you can pack heat as an expat Philly.
im in the p-i paradise island. but if i had gun in the USA i'd put a big American flag on my house. Thats how u let em know. A flag outside = gun inside.
@@SaulTeeMeat You can't do that anymore here in California. They will come in and steal it.
Philly, I can’t wait to see your new place. Internet access is a must. You are the first person I know who owns a starlink. Enjoy!
Good luck on the move, dont let the nay sayers worry you, as you have lot to help you with most things, and enjoy yourself there, its not really province in the major city areas so im sure you will thrive cheers 😊
Getting stuff ready. Good deal.
Great content Brian thank you for sharing ✌🏾
My pleasure!
Thanks Philly.
Good luck with that move to the province.
A quiet alternative to a generator is a powerstation: Ecoflow and Bluetti are both well trusted international brands and can be charged for free if you buy the optional folding solar panels.
The biggest ones cost the same as a moped but require less maintenance and can run your house for a day or two. They can also be taken to the beach to power phones, fans, lights and a karaoke machine for overnight camping.
Thanks for that information
nice video - StarLink is great - how is the non-smoking coming along? Good Luck ..
Philly, Nice move by getting starlink. Lots, Hannah and bing will Absolutely appreciate the service out there. Thanks for Sharing.
Any time!
Starlink in the province. That came totally unexpected :P
How long in provence 2-3 years, what is the time line, for example when you go what if you come back in 6 mos who wins the bet?
Nice move Brian better be safe than sorry thanks for sharing take care
Thanks 👍
Good luck Brian
Thanks 👍
Brian, I would think that one of those bolo knives that you passed up from the street vendor would be indispensable in the rural areas there
Congratulations on your STARLINK, Brian. Some hotels "lie" about having Internet - or its quality is rarely up to one's requirements esp as a vlogger. Your 2 necessities for the province: air con & Internet. One down and one to go...Hopefully, you can share more details about Starlink as you find out more from current users in the know. Best
Good video Philly, I also have a Fire-stick wouldn't be without it.👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻🇬🇧
The best
Well Brian what took you so long everybody's been using those well welcome to the Future
Good Luck.
Thanks!
Hope you got the network adapter too, you need a better router than the built in wifi cause that one sucks.
Good morning sir Brian
Morning!
I’m using it for over a year here in Europe and it’s a great system. I would recommend you buy the Ethernet adapter also so you can hardwire another router and extend your Wi-Fi. The signal can have trouble getting through walls and obstructions. Some people use a Mesh Wi-Fi but I don’t, I just connected my old router, hence the need for the adapter (there’s no port on the back of the Starlink router I have)
Thanks for your input
Beautiful day.
😂😅😅 same as feeding your Filipina she won't leave lol 😂😆😅😂
You will miss the hustle & bustle of the City...You will be bored stiff...
Hi Lot, Hi Brain.
I have fiber optic internet ❤ love it!
great buy
Great video...What was the name of the mall you walked to? Salamat!!
Please let us know what the speeds are like.
that is a nice bolo..i need one of those
100% a essential for daily living activities in rural philippines. Every single household probably has at least 5 of them
You are already in the province...lol
I just bought a house in the province, I'm thinking I need solar power. And starlink!!!!
I ordered starlink last year online and it took so long that I ended up cancelling it. Nice that you can buy locally.
thx Brian,,im interested in finding out how starlink works for you in the province,
job security on road repairs lol you should look into solar power to internet dont work without power. dont for get a years supply on mosquitoes repellent lol
Long time subscriber and listener How much does it cost. I live in the province (Porac) but have fiber-optic. I do travel a lot to do my videos and my connections are not always great and have wanted to look into Star link. Let us know please
I’m paying for starlink for family in Leyte and it’s really good. 200Mbps and under 100 ms latency and maybe got better.
you have 30 days to test your unit, so that if any defects are found you can get free replacement.
First comment 😀
It cost 33,482 pesos.but 28,000 residential
yes you can as you can take it traveling around the philippines seen it on another vlogger channel when he was explaining it to us, and he bought his in the usa and was dearer so as changed to one from that country
When your address goes from a zip code to coordinates, you know you're out there. My filipina wife and I are currently living in Muntinlupa City. I'm thinking of the more remote Subic Bay area, but we'll probably settle in neighboring Alabang. Best of luck with your move my friend.
👍👍👍
I use firestick here in Alaska,,
They got some wild storms out there sometimes, surigao
i would have like to have seen what was in the box philly is it a dish?
Thank Elon for creating yet another amazing invention
There is a mobile starlink. I wonder if that would of been a better option.
best to set up when you move,, not now
now ~ opps!
I read that for billing, that the credit card (ie Visa) must be Philippines based and not from the US. Do you know or have you heard if that is true or not? I am guessing your wife has a Visa so that is not an issue. For those that don't have a Philippine based card, I wonder how that would work for billing?...Anybody know?
Not true, I have Chase US which works fine.
@@mindorokano great 👍 thanks for the clarification from an owner..👍
Hahahaha, that cat does not like you, lol....I will be very interested how Starlink works for you. I may do it at our Mindanao Home.
Where’d you get that cool hat from?! I think it said Yongsan and Casey: two US military bases in South Korea. I lived in Seoul when my dad was stationed at Yongsan in the late 90s.
Subscriber gave me the hat
What about when there is cloud cover?
It's fine during cloudy days. however some people have complained that it is slightly less reliable in heavy rain because the raindrops can affect the passage of some radio waves through the atmosphere. Reception can be improved by switching on the snow melt option which sends more power to the antenna. The hardware itself is very weather resistant.
@@raymonde4272 useful info there thanks!
I’d need the same thing out in the boondocks, Brian, an air-conditioned room to sleep and the Internet.
A/C is bad for my health . 2 or 3 weeks max and I will get some sort of at least 1 area of airway major congestion every single time . SUX 2 B ME !
If you go left at the man with the knives, going towards Clark main gate. You'll reach the Honda Clark dealership after a few steps.
I would have stopped to check those knives out. I'm a knife guy
🤣@@patrickmunneke8348🗡🗡
You're well on your way no Brian!
Luckily i dont need star link...they just installed a fiber infrastructure in southern leyte and i get a respectable 53 mbps which is more than enough for me to work and play from my house in the province
I'm just sitting back, chuckling. I can predict most of the mistakes you and your lovely Asawa are gonna make. You'll be back in Angeles City before the end of this year... But, Good Luck anyway!
50k pesos bet?
LOL
Angeles sucks, I live here. He's making a good decision leaving.
cool man, I sent you the answer I got in a DM
That Western Union is now next to Eurotel Hotel.
The Filipina Pea has star link and so does Tim K and his brother in-law
I don't know anything about Starlink, never heard of it before your video. But, yeah, I agree, aircon and internet are both a must.
Man, how long have you lived here? The faster way to the SM mall would have been to cross the street by Jolibee area to avoid that long ass stop light.
God bless you Philly .... One of the best "3" Volga.. in Angeles City..... You giving people a lot of information about Angeles City....😘👍
I appreciate that
I'll believe it when i see it. The move that is.
50k pesos bet. Put your money up.
@@PhillyinthePhilippines I don't even have 50k pesos
Good choice...Anything to get off the local unreliable monoply grid of services they offer here ....
Brian i thought it was a karaoke machine 😂
Brian had to stop the video due to
"technical difficulties"
Starlink... Sounds good in therory ? I hope it is true and it works great. It could take 10 more years for it to work great. If it works great, I plan to get it when I move to PH. I would love to live in the country and be connected. I remember last year Tesla said everyone in the world will be driving electric cars in 2 years. Today all US car manufactures are putting the stops on electric car building, nobody in US wants them.
Works great in middle of Atlantic ocean
Funny Because I saw starlink in Costco Canada for the same price
Tahoooo... Tahoooo....!!!
Baaa.. luuut.... Baaa.. luuut....!!!
Thanks for a day in Angeles City!!!
@Philly in the Philippines, 🇵🇭
🚀 SpaceX's StarLink 🛰️ basic package in the US 🇺🇸 cost about $600.00 for the kit and residential subscription is $120.00. 🤞
God Bless You and Your Family. 👍🏼
120$ a month?
@@thomasodetinape4180 Good question!!
per month yes
@@SaulTeeMeat That's trash for 100 M
That's expensive
You will be happy with the Starlink for sure. You can take it anywhere You go. The Province is the only way to go my friend. Wishing You and the wife all the best! You will be fine for sure! And don't forget a bad ass Generator! Solar will help too. Keep up the great work my friend.🙏🏻👍🇵🇭
The Pea has it. She may know.
If its like here, you can take it with you but, I dunno bout your neck of the woods Brian. Check, Check and Re Check though. Wouldn't like to be told Yes, and to find out later, its no. Likw your new m8, He/She looks well, although theres a pain in my butt here you could have had. Thanks m8s, stay vertical Eh!
