  • Rope is the most fundamental piece of equipment in an arborist's arsenal, any job could be completed with only rope. It would be incredibly uncomfortable, but possible. During your journey accessing canopies you'll come into contact with many different ropes of various varieties. My aim is to give you something to think about when you choose your next rope. There are qualities that make every rope special. In this mini series I hope to explore some of the key differences that I like to consult when I'm trying to justify picking up another hank to swing around on.

    Hi , thanks a lot for all that insight!!! I'm pretty new to tree climbing. I'm slowly getting my head around it... Would you use a pantin or a petzl croll on a drenaline?

      @treespicemedia  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Absolutely you shouldn’t have any trouble using those ascenders on that rope.

    Also I have petzl flow from when I bought zigzag few years ago. Ended up useing the tight eye side for long lanyard ..this was before I knew about arbsession and there spliceing.. but it says it's kernmantle 11.6?it's kinda bouncy....but strong.guess it's made for double rope

      They’re fantastic ropes! I have the Phantom versions with the polyester core, but I’d love to try the standard version.

    I have sample lanyard of drenaline..it's smooth and nice but -seems much thinner than it's specs ..it is light...also looking at thicker ropes besides 16 strand ??what's ur thoughts 💭

    I really don't understand this video.
    Double-braid ropes are a type of kernmantle rope. Where does this idea that double-braid ropes don't count as kernmantle come from? eg, it goes against Cordage Institute definitions.

    Any thoughts on notch dragon rope? Its what was available at the store and I wanted to have a static rope. the package says 32 strand kernmantle. (ok now I get the kern joke)...the package says its 11mm but in the notch catalog it says 11.7mm.

    • @treespicemedia
      @treespicemedia  Před rokem

      It might be a typo on their site I saw 11.1, but depending on the font used or mistakes transferring that could become 11.7. I would guess it’s just a standard 11. Definitely a rope I would climb on I prefer those nylon core ropes for the bounce they have if you’re getting a little squirrely. It is a little on the high side for elongation so I would not recommend it really if you’re intending to buy a 200’+ length. Otherwise, anything shorter than that should function superbly. Also since it’s nylon remember to dry it out a lot on rainy days or wet snowy days otherwise it will function less than ideally and you’ll have uneven descents once it soaks up all that water.

    Why dont or cant a person use kernmantle rope for natural crotch clombing or rigging?😮???? If core is protected isnt that better than 16 strand
