  • This is our quartet version of the canonic piece by Steve Reich, originally written for e-guitar soloist and a prerecorded track. In this version we added to the instrumentation acoustic and classical guitars as well.
In this arrangement the band is constantly switching rolls - "taking over" the presented new material and "delivering" it further to prerecorded track.
The performance is accompanied with a video projection of the band playing the other voices simultaneously.
    Video: Janet Sinica
    Sound: Marc Duncan

For me there's no other genius of minimalism like Steve Reich. He's the best. Incredible masterpiece. Love also Music For 18 Musicians, Eight Lines and many others

Julius Eastman is pretty good, not as good as Reich, but better than Glass.

Love this. So much nicer than just tape playback with solo player.

I think there's still prerecorded tracks here as well it's scored for 10 guitars and two basses with a 13th live part

@@benjaminwoodrowmusic6070 makes sense. Unless they somehow arranged 2-3 parts on each guitar and then a few tracks left over hehe. Still love it.

@Goran_D yeah definitely I'm just being anal 😆 I saw Johnny greenwood do it two weeks ago and I'd much rather see it done by more players if I'm honest

@Goran_D there's footage of pat metheny but only a tiny bit I don't think I've ever seen footage of him doing the whole thing that would be amazing

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The mind is greater than brain topography. Beautiful performance.

It’s minimalism. Not everyone’s preference but certainly NOT boring.

Minimalist is more about small progresses in time

    • @andremetayer1467
      @andremetayer1467 Před 5 měsíci +4

Certainly not boring for every body ! It necessary to accept to let our mind to be taken by the rhythm, and then appears the so various constructions of the musical sentences... After a moment, if you accept the game, you can be taken away in an energetic spirale very positiv. If you are guitarist yourself, you can't ear this piece witout thinking about the complexity, the hard work to be on the beat together. It's my proposal with a langage I hope correct dispite my poor english knowlege.

@@andremetayer1467 it is a very funny discussion... sorry but it is extremely boring for me... does it mean the same for you /
?. certainly no - you could like it a lot, but... why should I? Seems like we have completely different approach to the music... for me music have to touch me, I have to feel it and be taken by... and it happens absolutely effortlessly... it is a natural process for me, if it does not happen then what is the point in different mental and mathematical constructions and mind games ? what do they have in common with any emotional value? Do I really love things because I accept their mathematics? Do I love someone voice because the essence of ones speech are complicated mind games or mental equation? Music is something which I love and Love is not mathematics .. it takes your all because of the feelings, emotions and intuition not because you calculated how profitable or important it is for you...

@@AndreiKrylov Well. I find like you this discussion very funny. My reaction was an answer to yours, you've let at the appreciation of these who are interesred by the comments. As you've find it interesting toshare with us your feeling, and because of the construction of your comment in which you said that this music was boring it's definitivly affirmativ and a with a manner a little bit peremptory, I've taken the opportunity to train myself to reply in english, a real challenge for me ! - to tell you that sole of us may have another pointof view, without risk to be treated too much like personns who are not touched as you said to be, by another kind of music. Cool friend... We are discussing about music. And to be just with you, I've to say that the music I ear, I play, I sing, is not this kind of music.
But... But, with the years - I'm 65... - I've open my horizon, and when I encounter something different, my attention is open.
The same way my attention was captured by your peremptory comment... And at the end, we've taken some moments to share more our feeling.
And plus, we share the same first name !!!
      Your welcole Andrei !!!

Maybe I’m jelous but this is wasteful. They could have played baroque counterpoint instead. And they are picking each note, but still using tremolo pedals. You don’t need to pick but once. Just use the pedal. They are using it anyway

Como frippertronics, buen conjunto musical, generadores de frecuencias de sonido agudo y bajo.
