You're running in a learning group, this is like passing people on the highway and then posting videos claiming you're beating them.
The C7 Z06 is a monster, and this guy is a pretty good driver. But I hate videos with this kind of attitude. Its not a race, its a DE track day. The drivers have different skill levels, some are running slicks while others are on OEM tires, etc. I had my Viper at a track day event years ago, and in the 3rd session I let two cars pass me because behind them was a huge gap. I wanted to let them go so I could get that gap and go for a hero lap. A few months later I find out that the Mustang I let pass me had posted video of it on a Mustang forum and they were all losing their minds at how he had "kicked that Vipers ass". Never mind that I was on slicks and had been blasting by him all day. Anyway, I am a massive fan of the Corvette Le Mans program, and both the C6 and C7 Z06.
Agreed. I gave the video a thumbs up until the cocky text started popping up. Ruined it for me. Thumbs down.
He really doesn't drive very well actually. I've driven TWS many times. His lines are all wrong and he turns in way too early in almost every turn. His power delivery isn't smooth at all. He could squeeze way more out it if he knew how to drive that track.

All the other drivers must have a 70mph governor on their cars. They are NOT even pushing it. Just giving the ZO6 a free pass.

Experienced driver vs newbies just having fun and learning. I occasionally track in that class, where you hace specific spots authorized to take over when the car in front of you authorize you with the signal. There's always 1 or 2 showoffs that should be in the intermediate or expert class. Kinda like good hockey players showing off at garage-league games.
It looks like they are still trying to get a feel of the track’s twists and turns in order to find out their car’s limits and their own capability.
You are running in a novice to intermediate group that requires point byes. Would love to roll against you in my ACR in a advanced super solo group with no passing rules.

Sounds like we have a lot of haters here. Obviously not ZO6 fans. I have run in advanced group club racing before (which is obviously where this ZO6 was running) and believe me, these guys were not sandbagging. These Vipers, GT3's and GT3RS' are not your normal street cars, they are race cars that are street legal. The ZO6 was just plain faster than they were.

great video, great driver. these cars are true race cars right out of the factory especially with the zo7 package, the stage 3 Aero kit and the heads up display make these cars true race cars. I have 2-2016 C7 R Edition convertibles and as far as I'm concerned it can't get any better. keep up the great driving and keep taking out the Porsches
Muscle car? No, too aerodynamic. Supercar? No, not expensive enough. Damned impressive automobile for the money? Absolutely yes.
Love that track. Raced there for years 1:53 is decent times. I was doing that on my motorcycle.

I have a 16 z06 m7 z07. Hats off For driving in race mode with no Rev matching on. Hard to control the z06 without some nannies. I installed a DSC Sport controller. Amazing. Puts the power down much better now

All the track events that I have done are broken down into three classes advanced intermediate and novice I run my car in the novice group and have fun all day long.

To be classified as a SuperCar you'd have to triple the price tag of the C7 ZO6 in today's world because that's how the rich think. The more they have to pay for a car the more exclusive it is because the number of people buying it is reduced. They are paying triple the price for exclusivity to put them in their own class even tho they aren't getting any more for their money than a car costing the price of a C7 ZO6. The C7 ZO6 is an Animal.

To bad this track is not in use anymore. It was such a great track day track. I drive by there once in a while and there are now a row of houses at the front gate and tunnel.

Nice video, I did this track a couple times in the 90's doing the One Lap of America, one of my favorite tracks, I hope this track is still in use, GM builds the best production track cars in the world, most reliable and fastest, I hope Gm doesn't get too caught up in this electric bull shit that will never work.

Did you have any cooling issues on the track?
No not really. If you stay in a higher gear you can keep the temps lower. You might be relatively in a lower rev, but you can use all that torque effectively to get the job done. But if it’s hot outside, the heat soaking of the supercharger becomes a problem no matter what.
Manuals don’t have the problem

Great! But I can't understand why you guy in US use the " point by system" ! Take the hand off the wheel stick out of the car to point an overtake while driving at high speed!? Wow. If you must point an overtake, why you guys just don't use the turn signals??
Point by is more deliberate. Some track days allow the use of turn signals but I don't always trust them. It is easier to accidentally hit the turn signal than it is to accidentally point someone by.

I loved my Z06 until Heritage Chevrolet in Owings Mills Maryland destroyed it. They replaced the transmission and managed to damage virtually every panel on the car, the leather, etc. The car crab walked when I got it back!?! I haven't had the car in 3 months. At this point another GM dealership is trying to sort it out at my expense. GM did nothing but direct me back to the dealership and the general manager there denied everything and tried to sell me a used car.
I'm just disgusted at this point and this video doesn't improve my feelings about GM.
I can't imagine handing over another $130,000 only for one of their dealerships to destroy the vehicle again and leave me with an expensive pile of junk.
Best of luck to anyone who will find themselves in a similar position.
for all you noobs out there.. this is not a "race".. Therefore, people like to drive home in their cars and not trade paint with others.. Who cares that this zo6 passed a Viper. may have been the drivers first time on track, or saving his pads and tires for a decent lap with less traffic.. Plenty of ACR's with great drivers that would own this vette and it's driver.. Anyway, sounds beast!

@@mrfox2230 option 1. Short shift - no money required. Option 2. Upgrade radiator - some money. Option 3. Cooling upgrade by Gspeed or LG- much more money required. Option 4. - swap out supercharged engine and put in NA engine- way too much money. I did options 3 and 4.

Would like to see how great you really are on a REAL race circuit instead on an oval track, which is just a drag strip suited for the Z06. I think it would be a different story with the much better handling Porsche’s that are engineered for corners.
