Wait hold up... Did this bird actually have intelligent debate over a box? Like is he able to physically hear understand and talk back in a level that we can understand as humans? Or was he litterally just yammering on and on in a way that sounded like a concersational debate. Iv never seen anything like this before.
Dude, watch some of the other videos. Vinny responds to conversations and situations extremely intelligently all the time. He's not as smart as Alex, but he clearly does understand a lot.
I've read that parrots are about as smart as human 3 or 4 year olds. Now we see it in action! So cool!
No. Anyone who thinks these subtitles are real are not thinking straight. Birds cannot have in depth, conceptual conversations. They are not capable. The most brilliant of all birds can count a few objects, name some objects, and correctly name several colors. And that is with extensive training. Almost all of these birds can "talk," but it is mostly mimicry and usually doesn't have conceptual meaning to them.They CANNOT have long conversations like what is being proposed in these "subtitles." No way. Not possible. I wish it were, but truly it isn't.
@@mygirldarby the subtitles are clearly at least mostly correct. Vinny _is_ well-trained, and impresses people by going far beyond mimicking stock phrases like "hello" and "pretty bird". If you re-examine the subtitles, though, you really won't find a long, in-depth, conceptual conversation. He mostly throws a tantrum until distracted. Like you said, he can count very small numbers, identify a few objects, sizes, etc., not much else. It's still far more than most of us have seen before, because most humans don't have the patience to train their birds so well.
Are we humans tempted to give meaning to coincidence, anthropomorphize objects and other animals, etc? Definitely! Does the bird really know that sweaters make you sweat? Perhaps not. Birds cut their calls short quite often, and "sweat" might have been short for sweater. That's subject to interpretation, though. The subtitles are a 100% honest attempt by the trainer, and at least 80% accurate.

The bird is not holding in depth conversations, LOL. You are right though, that if the bird were actually saying these things and able to hold conceptual conversation, we should immediately call Guinness, not to mention all major news outlets. Haha. But no, birds aren't capable of language at the level of these "subtitles." A family member of mine is an animal behavioralist and specializes in birds. She laughed so hard when I showed her a few of these subtitle videos. Birds can't do what is being proposed here. They just aren't that advanced linguistically or intellectually. They are smart, no doubt, but nowhere near the level needed to have a conversation like this. What you are hearing is mostly mumbling and mimicry of human conversational tones, along with some repeated words and phrases without comprehension. Birds love tones and are excellent at mimicking. But truly, this bird is not telling wise-cracking, adult human jokes and making pithy comments like a comedian. :-) It would be beyond amazing were it true!

Hi, Marlene, I love Vinnie!!! He is so funny when he talks. He knows what he's talking about lol. Yes, Leo heard you and George plan to film him so he didn't make any cheers lol. They are so smart! My cockatiels can read my mind. My poor Baby, my oldest cockatiel feels all of my emotions and doesn't eat enough when I'm stressed out, so I have to try not to be stressed out. My other cockatiel, Beenie eats too much when I'm stressed out. Big hugs. :)
