    Thank you for posting this. My X5's bracket broke that holds the window onto the track. Your illustrations helped me figure it out with ease and your frustration was as consistent as mine.

    Man that was a great in depth video , warts and all! This has given me the confidence to tackle mine knowing 'hot tips' and all the important little things that other videos have missed! Cheers.

    Great video, thank you. I think I'll remove the BMW motor and put it in my "box o' BMW stuff" in case the Amazon motor fails, rather than retrofit it now.

    Aftermarket regulators do not last. Who cares about a warranty when you have to keep doing it. Also make sure you lube all the window tracks/slides.

    If you are working on an Australian E53 (2001) with rear airbags there is a fourth screw holding the door card. It is behind the SRS Airbag label on the door card. The airbag is screwed into the door. If you decide to remove it do not unplug it or you will set a code. You have to disconnect the battery first to avoid this... Also, I don't think that black clip you damaged stays on the door. If it is in its slot on the door card, the card just pulls straight out to unclip it, no up or down motion needed. If it breaks it is probably due to age making it brittle.

    Good move on window motor,that bosch should outlast four of those cheaper motors,and that end of regulartor should have roller or rollers on it for easier movement and longer lasting!

      Yes. For sure. You get what you pay for. I think next time, if I have time, I will take my own advice and buy the better parts!

    Thank you for your video, the closest OE window regulator I could find is a (VAICO V20-0660 Window Lift), it looks identical to my old OEM I just replaced. BTW Vaico is a huge German manufacturer. Order from Amazon for $121 at this time. I like Pelican as well. Consider not using rock auto because they sent the Vaico window lift item to NJ not my address in NJ in error and want me to pay the $20 for the shipping to and from, when their computers or shipping dept shouldn't of sent that out like that. I had to go thru paypal to get paid back the $20 they charged me for their shipping error. And I would also ask you not use Partzgeek, they have bait and switched me several times frome OE to cheap aftermarket! I know I'm a slower learner sometimes. I have 246k on my 04 e53, I log everything. I got her at 48k in 07 second owner and I'm @ $.20 cost a mile. I used to go to different shops ripping me off until I discovered youtube university. I do most work myself unless I need a lift. I urge you not to put none OE in your cars. So much of the foreign knockoffs are junk! GL!

    Why did you leave out how to remove the molding between the two pieces of glass. You can not remove the door panel without removing it first without damaging the panel.

    What part number did you get? I have a 2001 X5 and I’ve bought a Dorman from Amazon and now an A premium and neither one fits?

    • @therankinfiles8956
      @therankinfiles8956  Před 2 lety +1

      I bought the right rear one from Amazon. It was a "A-Premium" brand. The part number was WR0138. This model includes the motor which I did not use.

    Going to do mine tomorrow. How's yours holding up after 6 months? Thoughts on whether the WD-40 grease was a good idea?

    • @therankinfiles8956
      @therankinfiles8956  Před 2 lety +2

      It has been holding up fine. However, they seem to give about two years service. I wont know if the white lithium grease worked or not until I have to take it apart again. Good luck with your repair.

      @@therankinfiles8956 thank you. My track record with how long these last has been 6 months (front right), 3+ years (rear right, replacing now) and front left (2 years and still ok). There’s a guy on here who figured out how to get the clips not to fail by modifying them with a cheap license plate screw. That fix works. But I find the rollers fail anyway and the pulley gets jammed up.

    Do you have a link to what window regular you bought?

  • @douglashellofromarizona1229

    Hello from Arizona, complaining about your 90 degrees, shooot that's nothing here. Our norm is about 110 degrees and then some. And you only have thoses "high temps" for a day or two. Heck we have over 160 of 90 degrees or more. 🔥🔥🔥🔥😁
