Ha, within the first 2 mins, I was sold on the 400. Thanks for keeping it so simple!
I love my ddj 200. For the size and price it is an amazing bit of kit. I only use mine for taking round to mates houses for small parties. For that it is ideal and I keep my proper set up at home. Also for a beginners point of view you can’t go wrong.
Thank's a lot! with your introduction, I have realized the difference between what I want and what I need.
The DDJ-400 can be used with an iPhone or iPad since it is compatible with Djay pro, but with a lightning/USB adapter. Depending on what ports you have on your device, you would need either the Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter or a USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. Personally, I find the DDJ-400 best on Rekordbox. I use a Numark Mixtrack Platinum with Djay pro on my iPhone. Still, not ideal for a professional gig, but I like to use it for small house party with Djay pro + Spotify, having a large library of tracks to work with.
We have done this ourselves and it does work okay, however the effects controls don't work very well due to the mapping.
@@Crossfader Very true! I forgot to mention that. The DDJ-400 is best with Rekordbox. Mixtrack Platinum and I think maybe the pro3 would be better suited for Djay Pro.
BTW, thank you for taking the time to read and respond.
Hii , bro can you guide me some!!
Brilliant comparison!
My normal set up is the turntable and mixer . i have the ddj 400. the sound card is pretty good. used it for a small gig with two power speakers. really good product. i think the 200 is great for new DJ's who are not sure DJ is what they what to do yet
I got my 1200's and my DDJ-1000 for the regular day to day practice and I absolutely LOVE my DDJ-200 on holidays or if I need to test a few transitions betwen a few tracks when I am away from the studio... really depends what your needs are but I wouldn't trade my ddj200 for a ddj 400 with the gear I have.. obviously.
Great video! The needing a laptop for the 400 makes the 200 for me.
A Sublime explanation of both
Thank you. Very helpful vid x
Very good and insightful video, thank you.
1:12 is what sold me on the 400 immediately
I own turntables and a big denon controller I’m buying one of these to take on holiday when I got to weekenders etc so can mix tunes in my room
Great review points 👍
I own the XDJ-RX and love it, but with the road case, it is extremely heavy and big. Something, which is a pain to travel with. So, I bought the DDJ-200, which fits with a laptop and a small external audio interface into a small Backpack. The whole package is relatively light. However, I regret not investing into a bigger backpack and getting the DDJ-400. With the DJ-200, you're just extremely depending on the laptop for jumping que points, checking levels, loading tracks and control gain or the headphone mix. Yes, it works, but I find it not really enjoyable.
The DDJ-200 comes with a mono splitter cable, which allows to pre-listen and play mono without an additional audio interface. If you need stereo, a small USB audio interface can do the job. If you go the cheap route, you can just combine a Behringer UCA222/ UCA202 with the internal audio to one audio device using ASIO4ALL under Windows or Soundflower on the Mac. (I did not test the Mac setup myself.) This setup allows to play stereo through the audio interface to the room and using the headphone jack to pre-listen in stereo. The question is: do you really need stereo? A party is not an audiophile environment and club systems (if you dare to bring the DDJ-200 into the DJ booth of a club) are often mono, anyways.
Nice video. Looking to pick up a mixing table soon. Never done never tried it before, but after a weekend of backing up my music and organizing my music, I have peaked an interest. Seems like a fun hobby as thats how I am treating it right now.
Wich one did you take
very helpful thank you!
i'm a vinyl dj but have just moved into a tiny apartment and don't want to rebuy speakers and bunch of other stuff so I think DDJ200 is good for me. If I get a gig out, I'll just play my vinyl.
You can plug the DDJ 400 into a PA system just use a stereo DI box and you have Balanced output.
if you buy a usb3 camera adapter they’re roughly £29
or $25 just plug the usb into the cable and plug your iphone charger into the wire it allows enough energy to charge your phone and to power your ddj 400
With the 400, will there be that slight delay when operating channels, buttons and effects as with the 200?
@crossfader
Hi! Just have a enquiry - my dad wants to start out using modern decks.
Just wondering, my dad has a Samsung galaxy A50 - would it be possible for him to use the application on this phone? Or would he need something more substantial like a tablet or MacBook/windows.
Thanks
Hi there! Awesome review video!!! Is it possible for me to record and/or stream my dj set on platforms such as Instagram, CZcams or Facebook??? Thanks a lot! Best regards
very good video~
How to get a stereo signal from the 200 when using the speaker/headphone monitoring?
I liked the video because you guys are cool & make good content but I think the 200 is a toy... the 400 is the Beginner controller
I bought the ddj 200 and I'd like to use an external USB interface instead of the split mono cable. Is it possibile?
(first time DJ here)
What appeals to me about the DDJ 200 is how portable it is. I can hook it up to a cell phone charging bank and I can dj out in the middle of a park!
But can I do the same with the DDJ 400? I want the extra features and Reckord Box license but I also want to throw down a spontaneous mix wherever I am!
But can you run a DDJ 400 off USB power cord plugged into a Tablet? I have a Microsoft surface pro 3
you got me at 1:15 that i don' even need to consider ddj 200
Can you use Bluetooth speakers like UE with the Ddj 200s?
Can you still stream music from a service on the 400?
Does the 200 and the 400 work with ableton?
What's the difference with a full licence and the unlock? I thought you could use RB for free always to prepare your mixes. And us the RB DJ for performance
Does the 200 work with Serato Lite on Windows 10?
The ddj 200 i would connect it to my phone but does that mean the sound comes out of my phone? Also if I wanted to record it could I just screenrecord?
The 400 can you plug in a amplifier then run speakers off the amp?
As I want to learn how to be dj, I'll start with ddj200. While learning, I'll be stepping forward and buy the one I need.
I suggest the DDJ 400 to start.
I got the 200 and love it
How is it
İs it Worth it
Compare all of the ddj consoles pls 🙌
im swapping my 200 for a 400. the manual loop and the extra buttons above the pads will make things so much quicker. using the mouse with recordbox is too slow. not to mention the soundcard! and FX
The only thing I really miss is pad mode buttons. It really takes me out of the moment to go to the pc or phone for this. Other than that I really dig how portable and comprehensible tbe DDJ 200 is.
I’m really new to this but what’s a DJ license code ?
So say that i want to preform at a convention (anime, games ect.) The ddj 200 would only have a mono output but what if i pluged the speakers into the laptop i have the deck pluged into. Would that fix the mono issue? I wanted to buy my first deck and i have a program called virtual dj on my laptop and would plug the audio stuff into said laptop and wanted to know if this would work.
Late to the party but with a laptop you can have stereo if you have two separate outputs or if you use a second sound card via usb.
@@JohnSmith-iu8cj thanks! Since I posted this I've DJ'd for 3 anime conventions and bought a ddj-sb2. I've done a handful of online events as well and it's thanks to channels like this and others that help beginner DJs that I have the career that I do! 💖
Got the 200 & it's good for kids solid & sturdy
why is the microphone jack on the back of the unit and not the front.
Im on Android so is there an app for the 400
The reason they bring out these cheaper options is to keep people on their brand for when they progress.
Can you mix with Spotify on the dj400?
Yes
@@turbodaniel5731 no you can't
How? Tell me
Yo bro i need that crossfader hat 4 shure🎉🎉🎉
What are the buttons that DDJ200 miss and are those buttons really useful in everyday DJing? I guess my ultimate question would be, would those buttons be used on every mix? Because if so, it looked like using those buttons on either the Rekordbox or WeDJ app looked pretty painful and cumbersome to use.
It ain't got a gain or fx and a few others but you can get fx from the phone/tablet
Ive been blowing to the screen for entire minute to make that white dot go. I'm dizzy now.
AH! IT'S REALLY THERE!
Guys what would you buy, ddj 400 or ddj t1? Im considering one of them.
Do you like Tractor or Rekordbox?
@@mrblend I've never tried any, i have to say that recordbox would be much better form me :D I can say that now having t1 and traktor. But i dont regret buing it - its an amazing piece of equipment.
Yeah I thought algoriddim had an app for PC and therefore would allow the DDJ 400 to spin from Spotify? Someone correct me if I’m wrong...
Josef Ayala any update on this? I’m looking at buying and seems like it’s a factor
DDJ 200 is the best
this might be a dumb question but can you hook them up to a desktop? cuz i dont have a laptop
sure..
Will the 200 work on a iPod touch ?
Yes.
I’m drawn towards the 200 mainly because of the fact of how portable it is as well as how you can use it with your phone, ipad and even a laptop, whereas the 400 you can only use with a laptop
The flx4 ( new 400) has Bluetooth and wired for phones and that
Can I use ddj 200 with laptop!! With virtual DJ???
Yes
Yes , IPhone iMac MacBook or ipad
Is this my screen black and white or what ? :)
Bit of false info, Mono sound quality isn’t any different to stereo the difference is mono is a single Chanel as in it plays L&R signals through 1 channel. Stereo has separate L&R channels the actual output quality is no different.
can only use with laptop? why not my kick ass gaming PC?
DDJ 200 or traktor s2 mk3 to start trying being dj
Better buy ddj 400. If chose between ddj 200 and s2 mk3, traktor is Waaaay better.
S2mk3 for sure!
They need a DJ200XXX for adults
Cool 😎 though but prefer the DJ 400
ProFreshional Equipment.
i was interested in the ddj 200 until i heard "mono output" 😐
so it's ddj400 all the way. all you had to say. ddj400 all the way.
thank you!
i can't find a 400 anywhere, it seems everyone wants them did you just buy the 400$ one on amazon?
@@RigaToeKnee oh I haven’t ordered anything yet. But lots of stores around me have this device, didn’t find it particularly hard to get
200 go anywhere
Everyone has a Bluetooth speaker
Ready to connect 🎶
Did you buy 200?
also an aux
I feel sorry for new djs now. I learn’t how to mix on belt drive turntables, then I upgraded to technics. New djs miss out on the excitement of going to the record store, and finding that tune. Having a physical item you can hold and having a mechanical instrument rather than just a piece of kit controlling software. Sure they save money and time. But it was all part of Djing for me. Please if you want to be a Dj start on vinyl or at the very least CDs.
stop living in the past old man, the time is now.
Mate I really agree, it's the essence of Djing. Learning to mix with out bpm counters and fucking wave forms. Honestly I've seen most djs staring into screens then into the crowd...Fucking sad. And to the knob end that said get with the times...you will never experience what we did and still do, you dont even know your born.
same guyzZ i am also making a vinyl collection learning from past & present is best
Your taking me back I remember them days little crate of records u could be in there hours times have definitely changed but more artist and producers have come from this digital world so we gotta be thankful spread love and music always ❤️
@@xaviergms2225 blame social media for that . all the gear and no idea these fake djs. I remember the real DJ and the real mixing too ❤️
im a kid
WeDJ for Android is horrible! Don't waste your time....
Good video but could have been 8 minutes long. :-)
