Genius idea! I can not chew gum, but this has me thinking about using other types of lids; yes, jar lids would require saving whole jars, or gluing a handle to the lid, which should not be difficult. If a store you shop at sells lids by themselves, then all one would need is one size jar that fits (much better for storage). Also, as you pointed out, homemade stamps may lack the precision of commercially produced stamps, they do have an important quality- they are your own designs; there may be others that are similar, but the DIY stamps are uniquely your own. Thank you again for this genius and very creative idea!😊

Enjoying this one again Karen, while I fold the laundry. Sure makes me enjoy that chore more! I hope you’re healing well from your surgery, and not in too much pain. Since many of us have very limited space, I’m wondering if we could just glue the fun foam pieces to a circle of window cling plastic to hold them together? I recently learned on Cat Hand’s channel that this plastic clings to acrylic stamping blocks. It might even work on the Misti or other stamping platforms that so many card makers use! Your video inspired me so much today that I added a new page for foam stamps to my Evernote crafting inventory system, in preparation for my days off… Take care and stay warm.

Yes the process was very quick although admittedly I did I have the patterns thought out ahead...well most of them anyway. I've used them several times now and love how they look and how they fit in my hand....having them in the tray so I can easily see the patterns is also great. K

Yes it is totally doable. I have used these so much and if I find that I dont like a certain pattern I can take it off and reuse container with different pattern. K
Your designs are so creative! Thanks for the tip of tracing the foundation shape for your “canvas” when designing and then for arranging the marks. Too bad the foam isn’t thicker. Would it have worked to adhere two sheets together before you began cutting shapes?
I love how you used something that would have been recycled. I never chew gum, so I’ve never noticed the containers-but it’s hard to tell behind the original package label. What perfect handles they make!
Thank you. You definitely could double up the shapes....the only problem with that is cutting the exact shape. I had done that in previous stamp making . HMMM( I found with playing with them that applying paint with a make up sponge works even better) Also the paint adheres better/get better stamps after first application of paint.
@@KarenBurchill You could make the first layer of fun foam to cover the whole of the base, and then add the cut shapes on top, then you wouldn't have the problem of cutting the shapes the same. It would use more foam, of course, but it's so cheap it wouldn't make too much difference.

They do work..just limited to size .....I am also going to use the lids from Soda Stream syrups. K

I love this! I've never seen containers like this in the UK but I'm sure I could find something similar. I love recycling/upcycling/repurposing stuff for art, especially if it doesn't cost anything lol!
Yes look for something similar....you could use old prescription bottles....some are very small but there are larger ones too. Look at lids on different containers. Have fun.

This is a great idea. I chew Trident Vibes and started saving these a couple of years ago. After finding a small plastic container of them and several stuffed in my bottom desk drawer while reorganizing my shop this year, I started throwing them out. I decided at that time to repurpose them for shipping gifts. Storing the lids and a few bottoms as you have shared would save a lot of space and create more items to create with. I love having the containers as I can store stuff in them too and it’s so easy to see design. Moving forward I may just do lids.

To save even more space, keep one or two bases to use with all the stamp tops you created. I can think of a few ways to use the extra bases.
Absolutely. Although storing stuff I. Then is sweet. They are also easy to see and grab with full containers. Time will tell
Love this. I wonder if doubling up the foam before cutting would give cleaner stamping results? You know, for those of us with OCD, who may be bothered by the lid printing. lol
I like the idea of doubling up before cutting....I will definitely be trying that to see. It's not as if it's expensive. I think the lid printing you see in this video is more user error...when I've used the stamps on actual pages I put on the paint with make up sponge....and didnt find I had the same problem. Tldr: how to make roller-style stamps?
Well.... partner won't be terribly thrilled by me saving "trash" for crafting/reuse/storage... again. Lol. (Its not bad, especially after we agreed if its not been reused/repurposed/etc in a year, it gets tossed, which eases him a bit - he has no idea that I have a huge tote full of useful stuff that was "trash", but has potential. Most of it is from when he worked maintainance at a big box store and came home constantly with cardboard tubes of all diameters, thicknesses, etc. 75% of what I kept is to be turned into a cat tree one day lol. The rest are to transform into cool craft storage, etc. There are a bunch of really small diamer ones... pop a solid heavy piece of paper & then the foam on one end of the tube... yeah.
Right now, however, I cannot get to those (renovations).
I've been doing similar, but mounting to heavy-duty paperboard. Then, i make a handle out of tape (to lift it back up). These are tiny to small, though... unsure how it would do for a larger surface area. Gonna have to experiment lol.
But, I am stumped. Here I am, a bunch of heavy-duty tubes I cant get to right now (but once I can... lol), a few lighter-weight tubes (tp and paper towels).... and I want to try to make a roller-type of stamp. I know the heavier ones will hold up, but I havent figured out how to roll them without my fingers getting all on the stamps. Any ideas on how to make cheap roller-stamps? I'll stain my hands if I gotta, but I know its a dealbreaker for some, so I've been struggling with a handle solution - something that I can switch between my different rolls.

@@sandyfranklin1123 lol... he knows and gets where I'm coming from, but insisted we reach a compromise that won't harm us long-term or turn us into an episode of Hoarders lol.
So, right now, if I know it'll be a steady supply in, like tp and paper towel tubes, I hold into 1 for an example (and to experiment with), and just let the others go until I need them (successful experiment).
If it's a one-off item, I tend to hang onto it. With our compromise, I get up to a year to flesh out a good idea for its use AND I gotta make at least a tiny bit of effort on it (hehe, yes... a loophole I refuse to point out to him lol 🤣😈). Otherwise, it gets donated or trashed.
I could be sitting on a mountain of cardboard tubes, cut up packaging, etc, if he didn't help balance me out a bit! Lol.

I think you might be able to rig up something that would work with a small paint roller and TP/paper towel tubes. You might want to cover them with plastic wrap first though.
