This reminds me of the loop triggered compressor/limiters we used in AM broadcast stations back in the 70's. We would patch the board voice mic channel to the trigger input so that it would limit the music audio on the main channel. The values were set with front panel knobs. Nice video, very helpful.

There's no substitute for that kind of experience. Old school was the best school.

Thank you. Great video comparing auto duck and envelope. I think auto duck is easy quick option when you have constant background music. but for a project where you want just 5-10 seconds of intro music and exit music, e.g podcast, the envelope gives gives you more control and you can reverse or readjust at any time.

Thank you for a no nonsense to the point tutorial, I wish you could teach some of the others of your countrymen how to do it right, edits so tight there is not time to take a breath even, they have missed their vocation & should have been auctioneers. Subscribed..!

The Auto duck is designed to be used as real time voice over. Useless for pre-recorded audio because of the envelope tool.

You don’t have to highlight the portion that you want to auto duck. You can highlight the whole recording or as much or as little as you want and auto duck will apply that effect to the whole thing.
