- In late July 2022 I crossed part of the Hardangervidda mountain plateau. I was dropped off at the northern edge, and traversed the tundra, first southwardly and then turning westwards after a couple of days. I had never spent a full week alone, and certainly not so far from civilization. After seven days, I had walked close to 90kms, carrying around 22kgs. Let me know if you have any questions! Det er kjekt å høre! Spent på å teste ut traktene lenger sør, og for den del også se mer av den ville vestvidda. Kjente det var skikkelig deilig når jeg fant stedene der det føltes ut som om ingen hadde vært før.

Thank you! The nice thing with hiking is you don't really need a plan, everything you need is on your back :) A plan is just a bonus!

I have watch a few of your videos now, really like them. I have always been interested in the Hardanger. There was in interesting point where you mention why go out of the warm tent/sleeping bag. You do go out (we all should), of course, because its the right thing to do. Greetings from Canada.

Nice video! Did a similar hike 15 years ago, although not the detour you made past Harteigen. Very nice on the Hardangervidda plateau.

Gikk Hadlaskard til Sandhaug i sommer, heldigvis med medvind. Kan tenke meg at det kunne være røft over de slettene i kraftig motvind.

That was quite a trip , how could you keep that to yourself all that time ? The weather was nasty on the plateau, I had a good laugh when you mentionned the wind was mooving against you in whatever direction you choose to go 😅 . You know that my pseudonym means " good angler " or " good fisherman " in french , so I was curious to see you fishing in those dream spots . I've been fishing since I am 5 , now I'm 55 . I noticed that you need practice but you did pretty well capturing those 2 dandies , I was a bit jealous . Thats the kind of trip I would like to do one day . At what time of year did you do that trip ? I was wondering what you would forget on this trip because you tend to forget things if I remember some older videos . Only ustensiles where left behind , not bad ! The last part of the journey was a jewel in itself, no wonder the tourists , the scenery was spectacular. I think this was your longest trip filmed on CZcams , I really appreciated it , I will rewatch soon on the big screen instead of my phone to get a better picture of the scenery . Thanks for sharing , too bad you dont have enough time for CZcams now that you have a job , because you make very interesting videos 🙂
It was such a good trip, honestly the best I've ever had. The trip was late July, any earlier and it would still be covered in snow haha. The wind was so bad, especially the third day, had to put on every layer just to stay warm while I was moving. To think I considered leaving the puffy jacket at home😅. Aha, now I finally know what Pecheur means! Very surprised I got any fish at all, so super happy with the two I got, and the spot was just amazing. Probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. And all alone too!
Hopefully I still get time to get a video out 4-5 times a year, especially as I get settled into the new job. I have another video almost done, so planning to get it out before christmas :) As always, thanks for the support, it's greatly appreciated!

Nice Trip! Which sleeping bag did you use? I was wondering if the one I have with a comfort temperature of 5°C would be enough for the Hardangervidda in september. Thank you very much!
Depends on how cold you tend to sleep. Mine has a comfort of +2°C and a Limit of -4°C (Cumulus X-Lite 300). It worked very well in late August, but i used a inlay which roughly ads 5°C to it, simply for comfort. It can definitly go down to 0°C on some nights. Semptember tends to have more weather changes than August so i would ad a bit of caution to my description. Alltough than being said, you could also wear some clothes additionaly if it would get a bit cold. If you have a good sleeping mattress to pair it with and maybe a light inlay you are fine.
Thank you, and sorry for the late reply, I suppose you're done with your trip now. Mine was also a 5°C comf, and it was almost too cold in july, with temps between 2 and 5 at night. I would want at least a -5°c comf temp for august-september, and even warmer for october and onwards. How did it go?😊
I was pretty cold most nights with my 5° bag in july, even with warm water bottles and a good amount of wool layers. Would definitely want something warmer for september 😊
had a beautiful trip, ended up buying a new sleeping bag which has a rating at around -5°C and it was a good decision as we had some snow and a little bit of ice rain in mid september. thanks for your answers!

Life Goals! Hva var innholdet i sekken? 22kg er ganske mye.
Ja dette har vært drømmen lenge! Skal se om jeg finner excelarket med oversikt over hva alt veide, men kort fortalt: telt 1kg, sovepose 1kg, underlag 0,5kg, div regnklær/puffy jakke/ull ca 2-3kg, mat 2,7kg, gass 500g, brenner, kniv, kjele og panne, slippers, 3-5 L vann, sekk 2kg, chest pack 0,5kg ish, kamerastativ 1,5kg, powerbanks 1kg. Sikkert litt smått jeg ikke kommer på i farta, men stort sett det (vekt er ca). Vekta gikk heldigvis ned i løpet av turen😅
