There is a actually a blue transparent plastic flap to pull out to activate the battery when u want to start using. So if your smartag2 didnt come with the plastic flap, likely the battery of the device has already been activated (eg. during a demo)

Use it to find my car at airports or downtown parking after concerts and sporting events!
If you are paranoid like me who checks keys and backpack (never lost any but...never say never) multiple times this is a game changer!
you don't have to worry you left your keys behind or backpack behind as the phone will remind you (and if you leave your phone behind your smartwatch will remind you).
I have to bring the store keys (not my regular carry) with me when the store is close during easter and christmas so this will give me peace of mind.
Battery life is the best feature, compared to the last version.
I bought energizer for the old version and never had battery issue 😊
Can I get constant updates via GPS? Just like air tags? Smart tags only give you locations when within a certain radius which doesn't help coz how does one locate bag if lost while traveling different countries..

I wish there was more options to add one to a wallet. I have seen Tile has a card version and apple tag has a wallet. There is not many options for samsung.
I got one in my wallet and one in my car, first version though, but whats the difference, cant see the problem you "got"
@@iAmKoKash the problem he “got” is the same one that I have and many others. It doesn’t fit in smaller and slimmer wallets. Big old fashioned folding wallets maybe.

Is the inner ring metal as my smart tag one has worn away from rubbing within the key ring hole
How do I use the camera, I tried to figure it out, but I have no idea how it works.
How do I access the info on my phone, where is the link to open it all up?
Wow! It does so much more compared to airtags!
Why would u have your tag outside? What would u put it on? How far does it go?
It's not updating locations. Have it out of range but looking on my map it never updates the location by other phones near it. How do you actually find the tag. Have all the settings on for location/permissions

@Daniel-dd3rz Haven't found a solution for it yet, but Google find me just added an app that should work with the tag.
Haven't tried the app yet, but it's looking like it syncs up with most devices for more accuracy
Awesome video mate. My father in law is looking for tracker like that. But his phone is galaxy 9. Will it work ? I know some of extra features won’t, but how about basic Bluetooth tracking with sound “calling “ the tracker or notification when disconnected. I found information android 9 is minimum but website saying android 11.
5:12 I wish there was an option to make you own ringtone patterns to personalize it

Thanks for the review. I'm thinking to get one myself as I have some credit left with Samsung and don't know what to use it for. But can someone please share some more scenarios where this tag can be useful apart from tagging your luggage when you are traveling. Because I just can't really think of anything.
P.S. looking back 10-15 years I only lost (luckily) one thing which was my small card wallet. So it would not bee helpful there ... no key loss since I was kid.
Definitely luggage. Some put them in cars so they can track them in the case of theft. If you carry around a bag or backpack, you can put it in there. If you have small children, you can put it in their backpack to keep up with their location. Things like that. Not a "must have" by any means, but can come in handy now and then.

My tag beeps on its own every now and then. What is that? Ive checked the Smart Things and the battery and there's nothing I can see that would cause the issue. Please advise.
try cleaning battery and battery pins inside smarttag
How does it compare to the galaxy tag plus?
Our first battery lasted 6 weeks. Got a warning about 5 weeks in then it just flat out died at 6 weeks. Without ever using any of the smart features, just finding on occasion. Put a new battery in, will now see how long the second one lasts with no change in settings.
Mine worked for 2 weeks and died, put a new one, got 48 hours.... Hope that they'll give me a new one...
Is there a battery included in it? If so, did you swap it before using it? It might have been that the factory battery was just sitting there for a long time so it just died.
@@merbudd Don't know how long they were sitting around but we bought it from Samsung on launch day in mid-October 2023. Should've been a "new" battery
@@thederekFawcett these things are manufactured and packaged months before the launch, so probably wasn't brand new. I also wouldn't be surprised if they gave a bad quality battery to save some costs. I do believe they can actually last one year.
They should probably introduce some kind of wireless charging so we don't have to swap dead batteries

Hey there! The S20 FE doesn't have the Ultrawideband frequency that detects the exact location!
When check location history, ask to enter 6 digits pin code. Have no clue whats is code is?
I just got my tags today, but I dont see the option to use the camera . Any ideas on how I can activate that
It is not supported/ updated on the s24. It is a bug unfortunately

I am a bit undecided if here in India, it might help find lost tag.
As in, would it ONLY ping to a nearby Samsung device that has bluetooth ON? or directly through Samsung servers, if it finds sone way to connect?
Apologies but I am dumb and a bit technologically challenged.
So it uses BLE (Bluetooth low energy) which is a low powered version of Bluetooth that to my knowledge doesn't require a full bluetooth connection. That will pick up on a tag and then use their phone to send the location on to your Samsung account (all anonymously too)
I'm finding it hard to believe anyone is finding their car in an airport parking lot when it wouldn't find my dog in the front yard.

@@iAmKoKash I have since found out that the smart tag only works with phones equipped with uwb which are the ultra, + and flip models. Buy a normal Samsung and it won't work. Makes this review misleading! So your reply looks pretty silly right now!
@@peterjday76 i got galaxy 22, no ultra or plus, i have smarttag 1 though, but i can still use with my phone even without uwb. And I got one in the car, and without the phone, it updates its possition when passing other samsung users. I dont know about the.smarttag 2. But it should be able to do at least the same, but i dont know?

Doesn't just connect need to have smart things installed
Just bought one from my dog's collar. But can't figure it out. It tells me to add 8 numbers which should be on the back of the tag. I cannot find them nor can the six other adults that I asked someone help
It's not keeping track of locations for some reason. Won't update its location when phones are near by or anything. It's basically useless other then having it in your house. I've got one update of the tag by a ping from another device but that's it. When the tag comes back its location history is wack and not accurate at all.
You encrypted the location data with a pin. Switch it off in smartthings settings
I don't get it. Does it track non smart lost things like my keys? How does it differ from an old set of beeper tags i have which "sometimes" work at shorter distances, or is itbasically the same thing?

So does the older model actually keep track of locations? This new one doesn't keep update on location by other phones or anything.

Great video thank you. I have one question. Can i track my daughters vehicle and will it notify her the tag is in her car? She thinks she is always safe and goes to school in bad area. She doesn’t want the tracker however i dont care and will do anything to keep my daughter safe but i absolutely cannot risk her not trusting me if she does catch me having it in her car so if someone can help me answer that i wogld be grateful. It is my job to protect her and she is naive thinking the world has only great people. Someone please help!
If she has a Samsung phone it will let her know so hopefully she has another phone brand.
At 7:40 you talk about losing the tag and someone picks it up and can get your info. Does that work for anyone? Or does the person who finds it have to have a Samsung phone?

I'm thinking if I can use it to track my kid's location with my phone. We both using Samsung phones.
1) if he has mobile phone with him, after he flys to another country, will Tag2 detect the location automatically after arrived?
2) when he doesn't bring the phone, can Tag2 still track the location?
Hey there, the way it works with the Tag is that it uses other Samsung devices to pick up the location and send the signal.
So it would be reliant on other samsung devices in the area to detect the tag then on forward its location to your Samsung account!
U didn't show us how far it goes? Do a distance test like at a restaurant

El problema que sigo viendo es que las personas tienen que habilitar manualmente la opción de 'buscar dispositivo' y eso casi nadie lo hace a menos que sean muy fan de la tecnología, debería estar habilitado por defecto igual que el Iphone.
De hecho cuando activas un teléfono por primera vez todas las opciones vienen encendidas por default el problema es que depende de que el Bluetooth esté encendido todo el tiempo cosa que por lo regular la mayoría de la gente lo trae apagado, contrario al iPhone que aunque lo apagues insistentemente lo prende en algún momento otra vez cosa que android no hace, y hay personas que si le tocan al teléfono por lo regular lo apagan la opción de buscar siempre por que piensan que ahorrarán más batería (cuando la ganancia es muy minima) cosa que en iPhone por lo regular muy poca gente le mueve ahí para apagar estas opciones de buscar dispositivos cercanos

UWB should be made standard, If am apple device crosses it, then SmartTag2 should be pinged, and also found by it.
that would be awesome. but not gonna happen. i can't understand Samsung in this regard. They don't even put an UWB chip into their latest GalaxyS24 flagship (only for 24+ and 24 Ultra). This is simply not gonna be a competition for Apple soon. I don't like the big devices. Even the Apple Minis have the UWB chip :-(

Do not update the tag after open box. The tag stops connecting to your phone even 1 inch apart. Basically useless now. I did not update but somehow it updated itself, so annoying planned obsolescence. Returned.
Sucks. I sent mine back. Not accurate. One minute it says tage is in my house. Next minute itll say tag across street. Its garbage
So Compared to my tag pluss it has better water resistance, longer battery and better range. Going to buy a tag 2 for my dog and hide his current one in my Motorcycle 😊
Does it work for dogs? They're saying the tag only tracks location if near Samsung devices.

Be careful! Not all Samsung phones can use Samsung's smarttag.
So it literally cant do more than the first version, except look different, i guess.
will it locate a stolen car?
It has the ability to locate anything! It works based off a Samsung phone "discovering" it (basically a Samsung user walking past to ping it's location).

So simple I've been doing that for the last year and posted the video on it and now they have implemented it lol clowns it's still nothing to what can be done with any tag even a cheap 5 dollar tag at this rate they are still about 10 years away from a good tag.
Haven't watched the whole video but straight off what I hate about this a i r tag thing is that it wants all of your credit card information . Promise we'll never charge you. Yeah right

Why would you turn Bluetooth off? It barely touches your battery. You're probably one of those people that tell people they should let the battery drain completely before you charge it. Things have changed in the last twenty years

@MegaCynar probably 😂 and also turns off sync and gps. Because they think people can track them. It's proven that google tracks you even when turning off gps.
