grew up on pleasant street....back in the 80s it was a different place....after american thread closed the mill the town never really recovered....was a nice place to grow up but im glad we moved away...hell even noble elementary is just dorms for eastern now.....main street used to be full of life....
The Barn style DQ is classic...My uncle lives in Andover, so I've been to Willimantic. Hosmer Mountain Soda...
I just wish that DQ was open all year round :(

Main St. looks pretty depressed and a lot of closed shops - is that no longer the area to shop? where is the best place for restaurants and other services such as nails, hair, facials? thx

You missed all the streets that are holding the treasures like taco la rosa and modus bbq and all the hole in the wall shops not to mention the drug spots on milk street west ave all the stuff by the campus spring st ect ect by and ucon is no where in willimantic and isn't in walking distance not to mention if you want drugs willimantic ain't it they traffic mostly very few street dealers most go to Hartford especially if they don't want a 200% or more mark up on wat ever there buying. I've lived here 29yrs and I've watched this city get worse and worse and for how small it is its kinda crazy least it's not considered heroin town anymore but it's not to far off. You should film on a nice day in spring or summer you will see people nooding out at lights and people nooding off lean against poles sometimes falling into the road ect.
Town isn't half of what it was even 8 yrs ago. All those "drug streets" are pretty much dead. Before you could walk to any street and get anything and now you pretty much gotta know someone to get something or know the main man yourself. But with all that being said everyone forgot to talk about the biggest problem in this town? The police are horrible, the police are violating ppls rights on a daily basis, hurting ppl they shouldn't even be touching and just criminals themselves
Moodus is horrible and overpriced.
