    Russia is making a mockery of NATO and US. Whenever some help comes, Russia says something and NATO play into the hands of the enemy obediently. This allows the enemy to train and ramp up production, as they planned. "Vast amount of ammunition, vast amount of ...". More vast amounts but things are not moving. One thing missing are the quality of Ukraine soldiers who are volunteers who are lost KIA due to the long wait.. I think this is why. Now more of Ukraine conscripts and the earlier offensive brigades are as good as destroyed by now.. Isnt the reason why aid is given is to get ahead of the enemy? And not wait for the enemy to react and worst, learn from you. The longer this waits the more Russia gets stronger . This is becoming a training school to Russia. And who is the trainer? NATO.

    What is the situation at the moment?
    The Ukrainian troops are far too few in number and are worn out at the front and are therefore losing more and more combat power.
    Now Zelensky has passed the law far too late, which could potentially lead to more conscription.
    There are now two options.
    Either the newly conscripted troops are given a crash course for a few days and sent to the front as cannon fodder. This would relieve the strain on the worn-out troops but would lead to high losses for the poorly trained new troops.
    Or the newly conscripted troops are properly trained in the hinterland for months.
    This means that the worn-out troops have to continue fighting at the front for longer and are therefore further worn out.
    So things are not looking good for Ukraine because they were not able to mobilize enough people in time to defend the country.
    And the question is how motivated the new conscripts are who have been doing without for two years.

      NATO is slowly teaching Russia how to fight. When Russia does not know how to handle Himars, more should have done at that point to stop this nonsense once and for all. Now Russia has learn much more of the secret technology that NATO will use in actual confrontation. When real conflict occurs between NATO and the axis of evil, NATO will find it tough going because of this. They drag too long to stop the Ukraine war.

  • @felixf.3392

    Does it still make sense for the US to maintain NATO if it takes its national interests into account?
    Countries in Western Europe like Germany pursue a mercantilist economic model.
    To do this, they are dependent on cheap energy from Russia and large export markets like China.
    The USA is currently "protecting" Germany with thousands of soldiers, a nuclear shield and hundreds of military bases.
    The resulting political influence that the USA has on Germany has not been able to prevent economic relations with China from becoming even more intense in recent weeks.
    In my opinion, Chancellor Scholz's trip to China in April was a clear sign that Germany is not prepared to cut its economic ties with China.
    And given this reality, the USA will sooner or later give up its military involvement in Europe.

      @ro-ot. Před 17 dny

      Yes well said. From a more macro perspective though, is it not in your interest to help maintain and protect democracy? To keep your dollar strong and not replaced by the Chinese as the global currency? Russia has indicated they want their country to reach the Mx border. Which means no Canada/USA?

    • @felixf.3392
      @felixf.3392 Před 16 dny

      @@ro-ot. In my opinion, Russia is not an existential threat to Western Europe. It simply does not have the military and political influence for that. If the US withdraws from Europe, Putin may be able to get the Baltic states and Poland to become neutral due to the changed balance of power. But that's all. Russia will try to expand its influence in Asia and perhaps become something like the weapons factory for the "global south".
      And I cannot judge whether or how a military defeat of Ukraine will affect the US dollar.
      But I have the impression that if this conflict posed an existential threat to the US, the United States would have intervened militarily long ago.

      Russia will not fight a nuclear war - it is suicidal for them. It’s just the fear of a nuclear war that has the intended effect of holding scared NATO away. Yes NATO should storm Russia (on the inland preferably) while simultaneously setting out the condition for the end of the war to go back to the 2014 borders and accept that this was a massive mistake which they will need decades to recover from.
      If they had the courage required this war would have long been over. Russia will stop fighting the moment there are foreign troops on its own lands and it gets a taste of what is at stake.
