#peace Yea when you have Pac not on a Lyricist-List; they refer to those that made you break your ⏪-button on your cassette-deck, scratch the CD for the same reason, or force you to genius to read the cliffnotes of the bar. Pac was a Renaissance-Poet type of Wordsmith so his wordplay was surface but his voice was Anointed #reverently

Art should not belittle Pac legacy by having to ask from people if he was a lyricist or not, Pac legacy stands on it's own, no one downplays it no one uplifts it.

2pac is a lyricist and a prolific writer. Yes, his rhymes were very poetic and story driven. But, 2pac was a deep thinker with a militant mindset. HE was very versatile in his writing and ability to hear one's pain through his words. Not everyone can write a Holla if you hear me/ I get around/ hit em up/ who do you believe in/ he'll 4 hustla/ changes/ troublesome 96. 2pac was a man whose pen game was livid experience driven and a lot of those songs that came out in 1996 had been conceptualized while incarcerated. Hit em up was a song already written in 2pac mind and plan created to get back at big. All that was needed was for 2pac to put pen to paper and record the song. Troublesome 96 was a song briefly touched on in a letter about feelings regarding his perceived enemies. 2pac had words before he had picked up the pen and recorded. Afeni/ mutulu/ assata/ mopreme/ black panther / sek/ Queen Panther Yasmyn Fula was 2pac inspiration fir his career.

@@futureflavors205 You are the definition of dumbass.
Are you trying to argue with the Oxford Dictionary definition of "lyricism"???
It's funny, I like how you haters remember about word "metaphor" of your MCs basic songs, but when they tell you about the concept of lyricism from the same dictionary, then you say: “everything is different in hip-hop, you don’t understand anything and you don’t know about our culture" bla-bla-blah.
Substitution of concepts. There is no hip-hop definition of lyricism.
      Lyricism is a poetic concept.
Poets have always been much more important than typical trash MCs.
Tupac is a poet and has high emotions.
Therefore, he is superior to all MCs in the fictional culture.
You are all fanatics, an ordinary cargo fictional cult.
EE Cummings, JMB, Maya Angelou, Sylvia Plath, Walter Abish, William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, etc better then every pseudo-MC.
Learn and search, plus read more, you modern gagboy.
Poetry it's not mumbo-jumbo tale-rappers like Jay-Z, Mobb Deep, Channel Live, De La Soul and more garbage artists or groups.
Primitive gangsta stories with a lot rhymes were not high culture (aristocratic) never, but they aroused a wild cult from the uneducated mass of crap.
Therefore, hip-hop is the easiest genre; almost any degenerate can create a primitive rhyme scheme.
But what about the soul or feelings?? Where is the main idea or base?? Where is the history and meaningful description of human activity??
This is not the case, all MCs talk only about - weapons, whores and cars, before and now.
Tupac had songs for every community, that's why he's better than most a lot trash rappers, fakes and snakes.
Poets > Rappers, it's easy truth.

For every 2pac song I've had listened to, let me say this, 2pac is definitely lyrical but just in a different way. What sets 2pac apart from other rappers is that he doesn't talk about himself in a sense where he has bad women, fast cars, alot of money and mansion etc since not everyone can relate to that. But what people can really relate to is PROBLEMS because everyone has them. He more so talks about society and what people go through on a regular basis, whether if its people being poor/struggling, crimes, shootings, police brutality, teen pregnancies, the government not caring about its people, suicidal, depression/mental health issues, racism, discrimination,or family issues etc. so whenever pac spittin, people saw themselves in him. He was the last dying breed that actually wanted change and to make a difference in the world. Doing that requires spreading messages in his music hoping that people will listen to what hes saying. Everything that he says in his music still holds weight and meaning to this day. His music will forever live on as people will always listen to it. Not just in america, but globally. There will never be another 2pac. For someone that has accomplished so much in a short amount of time until he reached 25 its incredible. And the crazy thing is, he still had alot to offer.

2Pac could hear a beat, write the lyrics to it in NO TIME , lay it down in the booth EXACTLY how he wanted to EXPRESS IT and THEN BE WAITING on the other MF's to finish THEIR SHIT on the same track‼⁉⁉ I mean, how many times have I heard this from different artists about 2Pac whether they were artists from different states or artists under his guidance like the OUTLAWZ‼⁉
2Pac was A BEAST when it came down to WRITING, Coordinating the Sound he wanted and Laying Down the Lyrics in the Booth‼‼He could do a song from start to finish in minutes‼‼
I compare him to Lauryn Hill, in the sense that even Pras and Wyclef said that Lauryn Hill was UNMATCHED when it came to Music Composition because she could just hear a beat or a melody from and OLD SKOOL RECORD and use a SAMPLE of it AMAZINGLY to create a NEW SONG‼‼ Pras and Wyclef were AMAZED at HOW FAST Lauryn could come up with NEW MUSIC from Old Records which is an ODE to the creators of the past who PAVED THE WAY for her to create music today. Lauryn Hill LOVED TO GIVE homage to our predecessors of Music. I think Lauryn Hill FELT LIKE the Musical Artists of the PAST didn't get their JUST DUE‼⁉
2Pac to me will ALWAYS BE one of the Greatest Musical Artists that I have been privileged to see and hear in my lifetime. I don't see how people can say that 2Pac wasn't lyrical and I agree with BD Kane, 2Pac was lyrical and his lyrics touched YOUR SOUL‼‼
