- Exposing your iPhone to high amplitude vibrations within certain frequency ranges, specifically those generated by high-power motorcycle engines, can degrade the performance of the camera system.
Even with a vibration damper my phones camera somehow got damaged.
With GPS units being quite expensive this maybe the alternative i've been looking for.

Just placed my order. I’d have room for the 702 but just holding a tape measure above my dash it looked huge and would make adjusting my windshield difficult, so I went with the 502. Thanks!

Agree, though I don't really care about andriod auto. DMD2 is the best though.
Thanks for the vid! I tried the 7" one on my T7 '22 and it looked kinda big on the accessory bar (the top left/right corners are outside the windscreen area by about 3/4"). Really just an aesthetic thing for me... anyway, I went with the w502. I'd been using a vibration damper quad lock wireless charging head on the accessory bar before, but had to do something when I dropped by bike and watched the "head" fly off with my phone attached to it 😀

It does work with touch screen gloves.
Definitely looks promising. I bought a zumo xt a few yrs ago and find it complicated to map and transfer routes to it for turn by turn directions. I may sell it for one of these if I can use routes I built for it.
I’m happy with it so far. Was looking into a garmin gps, but they are expensive.
I’ve never had trouble finding my way with google maps and Gaia, that’s all I really need.
I've been looking the last couple of weeks trying to get something like this to use instead of my phone mainly because i wanted a little bigger screen and something where my phone it's occupied the the whole time. Wonder how the androd part works.
I’m really not sure how well the android works with this unit. As for iPhone, it been pairing fine every time and is working as it should.
Great video. Thank you! I ordered one! I have a 2021 T7. How did you run power? Does it run directly from the stock USB charger on the bike? Or did you run power all the way to the battery? Or did you upgrade your USB charger?

I was hoping you were going to show OnX Offroad. Have you tried it with that app yet? I saw in another video that zoom isn’t supported - have you felt the need to zoom when using Gaia or does it handle it fairly decent? I use onx, Gaia and Avenza for my off road apps.
I have not tried it with OnX. You can Zoom in and out using the Gaia App.... its works fine.
Once I get more familiar with the carpuride unit ill do an update video

@@AdventureTomek I think pinch zoom is not supported by Carplay, but the zoom buttons on each app do work.

Have you tried it in the rain? Looks rally interresting but I have some bad experience with touch screens in wet conditions.
I have not yet, I’ll make sure to mention how it does in the rain on a future video.
Hi! One month later, are you still happy with the 502? I hesitate between the 502 and the 702 for my Tenere World Raid... any thoughts? Thank you!
The big benefit with having the 702 is that larger screen, I just really like how the 502 tucks behind the OEM windscreen.
@@AdventureTomek Hi! I know what you mean and you are right. I just wonder if my 50+ years old degrading eyesight is compatible with the 502 on that spot. I suppose you do not have any difficulties with that. But I also think the 702 might seem a bit too big. Thank you!

I was looking into a Garmin GPS, those are a bit pricey. I’ve had good look with using Gaia and Google maps… if I know I’m going somewhere off grid with no service, I just pre download the area on my phone.

I just got one of these, but was thinking that this will still drain the battery of the phone...so that represents another challenge to keep that charged on long rides when streaming android auto to the Carpuride.
Your phone should be fine for the day, the phone screen can be off.
I carry a small extra battery pack just in case

@@AdventureTomek I’ve got mine! Still have to take it out for a testdrive but CarPlay works like a charm! Installation is very easy, used USB so I can remove it when needed. Curious how it works with my Schuberth E2 helmet and Bluetooth headset. For now, thanks for your video!
