HOW TO FIX GREY ICONS ON YOUR FIRESTICK | CHANGE YOUR HOME SCREEN!

- Since the new Fire TV sticks have arrived, and the new updated Fire TV layout, I have been getting more questions asking why some apps only show a greyed-out icon when they are installed and how to fix it.
This video will hopefully help to explain why this is happening and showing you a few different ways, you can work around this problem.

I also found another method to bring the icons back, hold down the play button & center key to restart the firestick and all the icons will return.

As the live TV tab/feature is an integrated part of the Amazon OS, you will need to go back to the Amazon home screen to access and use this feature. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️

Hi Tanya, I installed the Wolf Launcher and it works great. Thank you for all your helpful videos. The Wolf Launcher icon on the Home screen is greyed out. Is there a way to fix it other than adding text? This was not an issue when you helped us install the ATV launcher. Is Wolf better than ATV or they are substantially the same?
Which Firestick are you using? Wolf is a clone of ATV with a few minor improvements. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
@@FireTVSticks Firetv Stick Lite. The launcher works like a charm but on the Home screen, its icon is grayed out. If there is no way to solve it I can get used to it. Interestingly, ATV Launcher's icon was clearly visible on the Home screen.

@FireTVSticks with the new layout on firestick the main page where is has Home find.. Then icons of apps. Is there a way when I put the apps in the order I want them, the next time I load or restart firestick those apps will stick. Have to change them to the way I want it everytime. I don't want to see News, Amazon music, netflix etc.. any help would keep the frustration level down.. Thanks

Will the text banner work with Nvidia Shield and can you explain how to do it?

Qonce you set this launcher as ur homescreen, is there an easy way to toggle back and forth from the launcher to ur amazon home screen?

I have fire stick version 6. I downloaded some apps from Amazon store and saw grey boxes, but after a little while it corrected itself.
Hello...Will this fixed work on the new 4kmax second generation for side loading apps
The issue should now be fixed on the new 2nd-gen 4K Max.
I know this video is 2 years old but the new firestick 4k max ( 9/2023) has the same issue with grayed out icons the text banner seems to be the best option for me at least

Launcher manager is for fireOS 6 and higher
Do u have anything that works for firestick 5?
Unfortunately, the instructions in this video for Launcher Manager are not compatible with Fire TV devices running Fire OS 5 (2nd Gen Firestick).
You will have to manually launch Wolf Launcher instead, or follow the very detailed steps listed by the developer of the Launcher Manager app here: forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-firetv-noroot-launcher-manager-change-launcher-without-root.4176349/#post-83705245 and scroll down the page to get to the LAUNCHER MANAGER (1.0.6) (FOS5) instructions.
Apologies for the inconvenience, at the time of filming this video, the new update had not yet reached the 2nd Gen Firestick and this was not taken into consideration. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
I have had the issue with the blank app icon and resolved it by unplugging the Fire Stick and restarting it.

there is no text banner on firestick max. I am new to fire stick. Is this problem of Amazon OS 7?
I can see Text Banner in the Preferences Settings of my Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Are you sure it is not there? Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️
Another way to turn text banner on and off easily is to hold down the play and pause button for few Seconds.
How does ATV compare with Wolf (pros/cons)?
In my limited experience, there is not much difference in my opinion but Wolf Launcher is supposed to fix several issues that ATV had. What these issues were, I do not know sorry. Thank you for watching 😊👍❤️

I have a different question I have all my apps on external USB but perfect player is acting up so I want to put it back on my Firestick storage how do I do this because everything is being sent to USB that I download but I want perfect player on my fire stick storage because it works better thank you
Uninstall Perfect Player.
Remove your external storage.
Install Perfect Player.
Restart your Firestick.
Plug your storage back in.

My Alexa does not seem to function properly or bring up titles under the wolf launcher. Is there a fix?
As I mentioned in the video for Changing your Firestick Home Screen - Just be aware that if you do choose to install a custom launcher then you may not have complete access to all Amazon Settings, full access to all Alexa functions or access to the Amazon App Store unless you return to the main Amazon home screen. Just restart your fire stick. I did and icons popped back up. They weren't grey anymore.
