Kawasaki badminton have designed a hybrid shuttlecock (bird, birdie) that is half plastic and half feather. They say it plays as well as feather shuttles, but are much cheaper. This is my equipment review!
#badminton #shuttle
We played with them last night. Quite a good result. Managed to get around 3 double games out of each one which is great. They are a little faster and with slightly different flight curve but we also ordered a slower speed test tubes and it did not effect plays so much. At the beginning we had a few miss hits due to slightly different flight pattern and deceleration but overall the product is phenomenal in terms of price / performance ratio and quite close to "real thing". Job well done IMHO.
Bought a couple of tubes after seeing this review and, totally love them, saving money and only a miniscule drop in quality. I've found my new permanent brand.
Amazing review!
In Indonesia, you can get a box of 12 full feather Yonex League 5 shuttles for $7.09 because it's made locally in Indonesia. However, it certainly makes sense to opt for a hybrid shuttle like this as not every place have locally made shuttles.
oh you're so lucky!!!
kwkwkwk memang murah banget kalo dibandingin merk luar. tapi nyatanya dengan harga segitu masih kemahalan buat gue, dibanding sekelasnya yg cuma 70rb an malah dapet yg lebih awet
Thanks for letting us know! I was planning on buying some new shuttles soon, so this seems like a good option
Love the computer showing Kawasaki in the background 🙂 Great video never heard of them before this vid😄
Nice video, we love the King Kong 500!
Thanks for doing this review. I've seen a group use these. My tube of Victor Champion No.1 flew much better. Maybe they had a bad batch. This video has opened up a discussion about feather vs plastic shuttles. Most people don't consider durability in terms of how many shuttles they use in one session. They only look at the price per tube. For example: 4 goose feather vs 12 duck feathers in one session. Therefore it costs more to play with duck feather even though the initial cost of goose was higher.
everything in the video is true. Sometimes I play king kong 300/500. They are definitely the most economical shuttles with feather-like flight. They are a bit faster/don't decelerate but you get used to it. And they are really durable. I would recommend it to all beginner to intermediate players here who for some reason play lot of plastic.
I sadly cant buy these shuttles from where i live but i would love to try them
I played with Kawasaki shuttles for about 6 months (since our club is poor and wanted to save money) but i noticed the shuttles were absolutely horrible. They turned oval after only a few smashes, and in 1 match i went though at least 3 shuttles. We actually ended up costing money in february than yonex did in one entire season, and we got our contract back with yonex.
Have you tried the victor carbon sonic? i wonder how does this compare, i am looking for alternatives for my beginner friends to do drill / play practise matches on, the carbon sonic just feel really heavy compare to any rsl / yonex shuttles...
2 tubes of my Kawasaki just came in, bought them bc i saw this vid :)
SirChocula Is it good like he said?
I'd say overall, it's a great value. I bought them for 13$. They last about 3-4 games per birdie but I'm playing with 2 beginners so I'm sure they could last longer with intermediates.
Just ordered a set of the k500 tonight. Under a tenner @ Ali express, £15 everywhere else. Just a longer delivery, I can deal with that. Thanks for the heads up.
How was the quality? And do you have the link of the seller?
I'm using the victor carbonsonic shuttlecocks! They are sooo much more durable than the feathered ones.
I have videos on my channel using them. :)
Nah, I had the opposite experience :(
Can you do a ”what's in my badminton bag” video?
We tried the Kong 500 because of this video. They wreck faster then Aero 20s. The flight pattern does not stay consistent. A new shuttle will fly like a plastic one, then you get a few hits that are like an Aero and then they turn into rockets. The Aero 20s are worth the extra $10.
Fantastic shuttle indeed !
it might be just me but after 10 smashes no matter how hard you hit it it should still be useable. The only reason it would break is if you mishit it
Just played my first evening's badminton with Kawasakis - good result IMHO
My badminton group have been using Kawasaki for some time. 500 is durable, but do not fly well. We tried it and were not happy with the flight performance. 700 were much better choice in the past. Their flight path is much more similar to high end shuttles. However. I ordered a batch of 700-s. I do not know if it is a bad batch, but those things brake really easily (700-s did not brake so easily in the past). We were down one tube per session. We compared it with Babolat 1-s. We brake max 4 per session. So when we calculate it, then it is actually cheaper to buy decent shuttle, than to use Kawasaki 700-s. So long story short: 500 is a good choice for practice runs and beginners. For tournaments and decent game play you are better off with high end brands.
We were able to play a full doubles game (2 sets) with one shuttle. Intermediate level, not super hard hitting and slicing, but still impressed. Need to go through the whole tube to judge, but it felt slightly better than Li-Ning A60. Forza Hybrid 5000 also seem quite interesting.
Not to mention the injury that comes with plastic shuttles.
Thanks for the tip! I’m gonna try to find a tube to try these out
Can you show us a video of you playing at full strength? I want to know how good you are. :)
Does it wobble too much? I am in doubt cuz of its cheapness.
Should I buy,
Yonex Aerosensa 10?
Kawasaki King Kong 500?
Or Victor carbon sonic?
Pls tell frankly Jonathan bro😎😊😊
Don't bother abt the AS10. It's doesn't last.
@@Bieffe what about the other two?
Any recommendations for
I'm not sure. But I feel the K500 is more real than the Victor. It is also cheaper. The Victor is sold as half dozen and is 100% artificial materials.
Victor carbon sonic has worse durability than feather shuttles in my opinion.
@@arnav995 www.decathlon.in/p/8490802_feather-shuttlecock-560-speed-76-x-12.html
do a video where you try do play with ping pong paddles
edit: BTW i subbed
Cheers mate, will definitely look into it. Bloody sick of plastic shuttlecock but feather shuttles in Norwich are freaking expensive.
Dear Author, answer one question, pls!
Imagine that you have managed to clone yourself three times. And then four identical You go and play MD match. You play with AS30 and You may change a shuttle as frequent as you want. No financial limitations. Limitless disposable income. But you do not change playable shuttle when it is still in good conditions. You have huge reserve of shuttles but you do not waste them changing after each point played.
The question is what is comfortable rate of changing shuttles for you? How many points would you play with one and the same shuttle (on average)? Or how many shuttles would you use for one close set against the opponents of the same level?
What I see at TOP level events is that players change shuttles approximately 1 per 4-5 points. What is yours comfortable rate?
I'm happy to use 1 or 2 shuttles a game. But if I had unlimited money I sure as hell use a lot more 😂
Nice video. How do these compare to the victor carbonsonic. I have used the victor shuttles and found they played quite nicely.
Make a video about how to strengthen our grip and play with just a little flick on the racket
For us its the flight, that deceleration that well mark a usable plastic shuttle. We have not yet found one, those geese really know how to make a great feather. Cork and feather get more and more expensive and threaten the sport, especially in the west where other sports have it easy on equipment.
Hi Jonathan, I see they only seen to offer 77, would you think those to be too slow for UK especially in winter?
Great review. Do you also review the Kawasaki Feather shuttle ?
I'm buying
Have you seen the shuttles of foam? Really cool
i haven't seen them, are they any good?
Of foam? What brand? :O
Theyre awful. (In my opinion)
The birds slow down after not too many hits and then the foam “feathers” start to peel back down the stem of the feather.
Do they fly well where you’re from?
@@EternityxBladeI didn't test them but the shuttle was damaged pretty fast
Nice review.
Did you try othe hybrid shuttles (Dmantis 45,... ) ?
We are always using Mavis 300 (Green). How is the speed compares to the mavis green?
The blue one from mavis is too fast for us. I would defenitly buy one box if the kawasaki has the speed from a green mavis :)
Have you tested any shuttle humidifiers?
Try the Humidome!
The Humidome has worked for me. The only time I've had to replace a shuttle in the middle of a game is where players hit the side of the cork. I have no idea how people mishit a shuttlecock like that and so often.
how is it like if you miss hit the shuttle
Didn't know Kawasaki make sports stuff like shuttlecock all i know when i hear Kawasaki reminds me of motor bike...lol
Stick to real feathers if you can hit from base to base with good quality, the KingKong500 is gonna throw your sensitivity out due to the fly path.
It does not respond well on hard smash either, there seems to be a limit on how hard you can hit it before the plastic construct difference became noticeable.
This shuttle is EXCELLENT for hard but clumsy hitters (the ones that doesn't give a damn about proper technique and destroys shuttles after one smash)
The feel on drops shots are very good but don't rely on spin (regional players techniques are wasted on them, they will feel like playing plastic on those shots)
agreed. They are horrible,
Do you review apacs 900 shuttle?
Where'd ya go swift? 😞😞😞😞
Ironically, I know players that would rather try a hybrid shuttle than buy a tube of feather shuttles. Mainly because feather shuttles break too easily. Then they don't like the hybrid & go back to playing plastic shuttles. Then they only play feather shuttles if someone else pays for them.
It doesn't seem to ship to Canada :S
RCL Black gold > Aerosensa 30, budget too!
This is not available in India
It is
even more expensive than A30 in SG, wtf?
trickle down economics!
我都看到了耐打的标签嗯....
ordered 2 packs and was a bit disappointed. they fly toooooo slow... my team is not conviced to use them over the plastic ones for our kids-training... :/
I tried this and it GOES out every time :(
Nice video
Hard to believe that everything you say it's true when its sponsored. Regardless, maybe this will convince some of my friends to make the slow transition to feathers. I'm willing to give it a try.
As a junior player in America, I would highly recommend the feather shuttles because they are more stable and are easier to hit. Although they are more expensive i would recommend the feather ones (unless price is a problem).
I have some, it's all true, even the minor negatives
AS30 the King of shuttles? AS50 must be the God of shuttles then haha
In terms of price/performance
This review defies the laws of physics and common sense. The part of the shuttle that gets damaged during play is the feather. Seeing as how the Kawasaki shuttles are still made of feather at their tips(the part that gets chewed up).. There is absolutely NO reason they would last longer than a typical feather, unless you are unconsciously striking them with less force... The plastic(more durable) aspect of the shuttle never comes into play durability wise.
I get that Kawasaki sponsored the video, but at least try to remain impartial when reviewing their product. You've combined the two worst aspects of different shuttles; plastic, something you associate with being crap for shuttles, and feather, the weakest part of the shuttle, and suggested you've come out with something better than the original two...
They are more durable, the difference is night and day.
I never said theyre better than feathers, because theyre not. I said theyre more durable
@@SwiftBadminton nono, I get what you said. But given they are made with the cheapest available feathers. And they are still feather.. How can they possibly be more durable? The plastic part plays no role in it's durability (it's purely a cost savings measure).
Jokes on you...
I have these shuttles and they last much longer. I use no more than two K500 shuttles per hour, but use around 4 full feather shuttles in an hour 😂
Ive been waiting for this quite sometime now.. greattt no more money waste to shuttle ... Waste to greedy shuttle company
im the 100 comment
Hope Kawaski are paying you well, lol. Good video nevertheless.
He already received the shirt :-)
