Seems incompetence reins supreme in the Giants upper management. Wtf would you pay Jones $40M, instead it could’ve gone to getting better players.
It’s not that crazy of an overpay. It’s moreso worse that they stuck with him as a QB. His contract isn’t too bad. He’s not fully guaranteed after this year. He can be cut next off-season with minimal dead moment. Also 40 million a year will be top 15 starter money pretty soon.
Because a 27 year old constantly injured rb is not a good investment. A qb who had his best season and won a playoff game is worth 40. Jones hasn’t lived up to that but giving Saquon the money the eagles did wasn’t a smart move either.

Its called taking a risk. Jones had a pretty good season, looked like he was getting better, helped get them to the playoffs and won, so they thought it would keep progressing in that direction. Obviously it hasn't worked out so far (could turn around) but its pretty easy to understand the reasoning at least. Its extremely hard to find a franchise QB and its easy for people sitting on their keyboards to criticize stuff in hindsight.

His decision was absolutely sound and correct, Berkley wasn't the missing piece to winning a superbowl the Giants offensive line was HOT GARBAGE and was way more important making better for Jones so Jones isn't seeing ghosts anymore, and our draft was fantastic they made good decisions, it's time For Jones to step up or we move on.

@brianb1888 No, they win because they have competent leadership and know not to overspend for a position just because that position is overvalued regardless of the talent at that said position, i.e., overpay for Jones just because he's a qb, not because he's a good player. Instead of paying 40 million a year to a guy, a team SHOULD know needs a high level run game to be just good, they should of gave DJ only 34 mil a year and made their best player happy (Saquon) 13-15 mil a year instead of just 10 million for one hoping he injures himself (we all know when a team franchises, they are hoping you fall off or get injured so they dont have to pay you what you're worth). That not only would that have made their best player feel respected, it wouldn't have reset the rb market since saquon's issue is injuries. Plus, the team would have saved around 2 million.
All that being said, the giants had the right to do what they did, I just think it's corny they're acting shocked and surprised like it was nothing they could do, like it was out of their hands. Even though they could've literally just paid him if they're acting that shocked and wanted him soooooo badly.
