Semi 2 is either gonna be straightforward (so almost everything that's qualifying in the odds makes it) or shit's gonna get VERY weird
I feel like Austria may shock NQ. If the staging is messy and the vocals are mid, I could see Malta or Denmark taming their spot
Definitely think Austria and Belgium are the possible shock NQs. I think Belgium is maybe more safe, but I think they both have proven so far that achieving the quality of the studio cuts of their songs live is difficult for them (not impossible) so it'll be uphill a bit for them
Mid vocals? Why you acting like she needs to sing like Celiene Dion with a dance song lmao. Her vocals are good. It's a dance song, its a performance. As long as she doesn't run out of breath and doesn't sound awful, it's good. And having heard all of the pre parties, she sounded good on all of them. Austria will easily qualify.

Ok... I have a case on San Marino. One of the reasons that actually killed Achille Lauro in 2022 was the fact that Italy wasn't voting in semifinal 2. Spain is voting in this semifinal, and I see them winning the Spanish vote and getting some points from rock fans all around (even getting more votes than Czechia, which is direct competition). So, there's a path where San Marino could finish in 10th place and qualify.

Sennek was very good but that song was not everybody's cup of tea. Mustii's song is more digestible for the crowds.
@@nstella7 i think the issue was her staging actually (or lack of staging). Don't think we will have this issue now, but we might get a messy delivery from Mustii. Hopefully not, I have Belgium in my top 5

Albania has many friends in this semi (diaspora in Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and ROTW vote). I would not count them out despite the running order. But if they make it, it will be borderline (8-10th) at best.
It wouldn’t be the first year that they don’t qualify with televoting and the song is just too bad.

If you would've asked me if Belgium is making it a month ago, I would've said definitely. Sadly in all of his TV appearences and pre-parties, not once has he delivered both the vocals and the performance at the same time. I don't think I've heard one performance where his vocals weren't too sharp. I still think it's making it, but borderline (9th-10th)

Semi 2 is so strong. Some of these songs deserved to be in Semi 1 for a better chance of qualifying
I agree on the eight definite qualifiers, and I would pick Georgia and Estonia as the most likely candidates for the two other spots as well.
There could be a trainwreck moment like Sennek or Pia Maria and maybe one or two important countries would fail to qualify.
Regarding the pop girlies, we should consider that Italy and Spain will sing and maybe saturate some space for pop girlies. Slimane will sing a killer ballad and maybe also saturate the male ballad genre.
I think the only one really out of the box and crazy is San Marino and they could benefit from that.

@@heppolo their staging last year was pretty messy and the live singing was more like whispering, they were also 3rd which has the worst qualification rate, so their chances are higher this year I’d say

I think a lot of people got stuck with the National final but... I think Aiko will surprise us.
Of this semi, my favourite is Austria, followed by Georgia, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The other 6 I would want in the final would be Greece, Armenia, Belgium, Denmark, Malta and Norway.
Now here's an interesting (hot take) question for you; do you think it's possible that Israel could be the biggest wild card this year simply due to the current situation? Like people purposely voting everything else up to keep it from making it in? It's kind of a similar idea to how many people felt Ukraine were voted up (resulting in their win) for their situation in 2022, it's kind of an opposite situation with Israel this year... and I mean this question with the utmost respect because it is a very touchy situation, but I could see a world where this is a very distinct possibility. Georgia and Latvia are the countries with the most disqualifications since 2017. I have a very good feeling about Nutsa because it's an uptempo song and her vocals are great live (we heard it at the pre-party). The performance will probably be good, and she should qualify. Latvia needs a better staging, something like Kristian Kostov, who was also alone on stage and sang a ballad. Dons has a great performance and vocals (every time at the Pre-parties) and there he has an advantage over Mustii from Belgium. The question is whether televoting wants a song from Belgium or Latvia... Austria was one of my favorites, but the vocals need to be better I think. Albania has more advantages than Malta or Denmark because Switzerland, Italy, and Greece are voting (possible 30 points) and maybe the rest of the world or Belgium/Austria could give them something.... So, Besa has more advantages than Malta, San Marino, Czechia or Denmark at this point
After seeing the pre-parties I'm more confident about Georgia. The vocal is RELIABLE!
As a Latvian I'm confused.. When we had our national selection everyone was screaming Dons! Now.. Noone likes it. Speaking about kitty song. Between all girls we have this year, it would fall flat tbh.
In this semi I think Dons has the advantage of being one of few male balads.
Kitty song at least had some unique selling point.
Dons song is not bad at all, it's just not anything new or different or memorable. It's a good, clean male power ballad. For Dons to qualify, he needed something brazen, something angry, something anti Big 5 like Tornike's "Take Me As I Am"
Exactly, people were saying Dons could be a winner. Seems people didn't like the staging and since then feel they will be low in the rankings. But the general public might like the well sung song.
Latvia will be the moment of introspection and coming to rest after all those girlbops. He will stand out.

In what kind of delusional fantasy world would cheap fastfood songs qualify over masterpieces. Malta is ending up dead last. The song is garbage.
I have a feeling that we’re going to see a repeat of what happened with ‘Burning Daylight’ and ‘Watergun’ last year with Belgium and Latvia this year. On paper, Belgium is the much better song and has far more hype around it compared to Latvia but I have a feeling the execution won’t be there with Belgium like ‘Burning Daylight’ whereas it will be with ‘Hollow’ which we know is going to be strong vocally and people will end up voting ‘Hollow’ through instead like they did with ‘Watergun’ last year.
You clearly haven’t watched the rehearsals and the other live performances of Mustii who’s a much better vocalist than Dons. Plus Belgium has the Netherlands and France voting and he will get a huge support from Italy and Spain, plus all the drags. The Belgian song is a million times better than the Latvian, not even a tiny chance that Latvia makes it. He will not get more than 18 points while Mustii will get above 100 points. It’s far more likely that the Netherlands will not qualify.

I think Belgium is in, but if he doesn’t have his vocals on point during the semi final (and the majority of the times he has sounded off, especially the notes in the chorus) & if they don't get the staging right, I think Latvia might have a chance of getting in instead. I love both songs. I just am not as convinced with Belgium anymore 😅

Belgium for me has super fallen off since the lives which nothing is really going right for them and the RO means it could stand out as bad risking their slot being taken. Israel is hard to gauge what the vote will look like. It can be assumed they Q but not a guarantee and judging the song alone, they came 19th in televote with a ballad in 2019 and they televote NQed with all other ballads too in 2010, 2013 and 2016 so it’ll all depend on that extra support.

This is by far the stronger semi imo. There’s literally not a single song I would rate under 6/10 here (and that’s just Israel and Denmark, the rest are better than 8/10)
Georgia is 100% qualifying. Austria is the borderline not Georgia

I am sure, San Marino, Czechia, Latvia and Estonia. I see on the fence Israel(yes, i know I am the only one on this planet who does this). My heart goes for Malta qualifying, it has been overlooked, overslept and underrated, if she's gonna do fine with the live vocals, i see this advsncing to the final. Now what hapoened with Belgium? If Mustii manages to oerform and sing the track right, i do not only see Belgium winning this semi final, but also the contest

i’d say 11 are battling for the 10 spots, the 10 you locked in and denmark, the other ones feel out of the game. very close between denmark and georgia, if estonia has the right camera angles and delivers the right energy

To me Greece, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Armenia & Norway are the only sure Q. The other slots are wide open with so many factors. Belgium Austria & Israel can easily flop. I also dont think Czechia is out. I could see her do really well

Israel
cause these three are the strongest vocalists of this group and they all 3 will vocally deliver in a live performance.
I like the songs of Denmark, Czechia, Norway Austria and Latvia from this group aswell.
Norway and Latvia are both strong vocalists aswell but both their songs are songs that don't seem to be liked by the larger audience because they are not the typical pop songs people are used to.
Czechia, Denmark and Austria have the problem that all 3 were vocally weak to mediocre in their live performances so if they don't deliver in the semi finals I don't see them all going through but rather the one that brings it's A Game that day.
Malta is vocally weak, albania is ok, armenia is a fun song but their lyrics are VERY limited (mainly a repeat of the same for like 3 minutes).
San Marino is ok too but it doesn't seem to find many fans rallying behind it. Same goes for Estonia I guess.
Switzerland and The Netherlands will probably go through because of all the following they have.
Belgium never delivered in the live performances so far so I see him rather bomb in the semis and losing his otherwise secure spot.
In reality and by all the hate I see online towards Israel, I see them sadly and unfairly punishing Eden Golan by not letting her advance even she is a awesome talent and the song is great though.
If that really happens it will open the door for one of the acts that definately wouldn't had advanced otherwise.
I showed San Marino to people who are not in the Eurovision bubble and not a single one of them liked it. And that included people whose go to genre is rock. So i think San Marino is definitely out

I mean if their energy and performance will be on point there will be people who will like it, there is demographics for such songs. And we don't often have real rock songs sung by female vocalist, it will be the refreshment of the evening.
And in reality diaspora of the countries plus the eurovision bubble people decide who qualifies or not. Also don't forget big favorite countries tend to not vote for competitors, so it comes down to what I said

because before the revamp the song was not enough, but when they did the revamp, there were also Austria, Greece, Cypurs... In addition, malta is not a big country in ESC so people dont cheer them a lot
Malta is a small country with no neighbors = less televote, also people are saying she copied Chanel, which she didn’t.
Malta tends to struggle with televote and Austria/Georgia/Greece might have more of an advantage

I feel that Armenia may be a nonqualifier. We have 2 similar songs- Greece and Armenia. This can really happen.
The same situation is Malta and Georgia. Probably only one of these will qualify.
Czechia will be in the grand final. Staging and vocals will be great and there is no other song like this. I also feel that Denmark can qualify, but this is definitely more jury song than televoting song, and we know that only the viewers vote in this semi. Therefore i think that Czechia has big chances to qualify.

Regarding outright winner: I do like most of your insights; in fact, I do I agree to most of them, however, this year, you've probably focused too much that this is going to be a "reset" year, when in fact, this is a verrrrrrrry POLITICAL year (yet again). For me, predicting Croatia and Switzerland as winners would be a mistake.

Belgium is one of my favs, but it can be interpreted not impactful enough
Of course they will qualify in such a weak SF. Especially Belgium who has France, the Netherlands, will get a huge support from Italy and Spain too and it’s by far the best song. His rehearsals were top notch, vocals on point amazing staging. He will make the top 5 in the finals without any doubts

I really don't get how songs like Greece and Israel can be 100% sure qualifiers. And for 2 very different reasons...Starting with Israel, yes the song is very good...but like...legit everyone hates Israel right now...how can they make it to the final in a televote only semi??? Like...i love the song, it's my 7th favourite of this year, but like...surely not right? I just don't see people at home going, ah yes, Israel, going to vote for them. No way. And Greece, i've showed the song to both my family and my friends, and they said it was horrible. Which it was very predictable. I don't 100% hate the song but the song is A MESS. And if the staging is average, there is no way it qualifies. The song is just simply not strong. It's a bang average song at best.
Given that the song takes too long until the peak and that Mustii's recent performances didn't sound good I think Belgium is not making it and Latvia comes in and takes their spot because people might prefer something more classic with stronger vocals. And contrary to popular opinion I don't think Armenia is that safe at all. The song might be too repetitive and Armenia doesn't always stage ethnic songs well, so I'm saying San Marino takes their spot. If Belgium and Armenia make it then it's over for Latvia and San Marino. Georgia will just make it. Lowkey I am not so sure about Austria, Denmark or Malta could come in if Kaleen flops live, but I'm living in a world Austria will be good, so I'm gonna say: Norway , Austria , Greece , Switzerland , Netherlands , Estonia, Georgia, San Marino and Latvia. I really think Latvia will take Belgiums spot unless Belgium could do something with hiding the vocals with a backing track. I think Denmark beats Georgia for that last spot. On the fence I have Malta and Czechia, im nervous for them but if they can nail it I can see them fighting for Denmarks spot. San Marino and Albania are the only ones definitely out for me

Malta has the best straight ahead pop girlie track this year. It's better than Cyprus. Better than Georgia. Better than Poland. Better than Luxembourg. I'd say it's on par with Austria while doing a different thing. I'm gonna be bummed if Sarah misses out and one of those gets through ngl.

I live in a world where belgium can be a shock NQ because it takes too much time to arrive to the climax and maybe the televote dont Q them, its a jury song. And then maybe Austria flops because she doesnt sing well or its not as good as expected and compared to Malta it is worse.

@@AlesiaMichelle The only time they had a song entirely in armenian was in 2018, and it failed to qualify. I know the genres are different but you know it is not like Armenia hasn't been struggling in the past few years. Maybe I am wrong, who knows. We will have to wait and see.
