  • What is your identity? Is it what you do or who you are at your core? At the Link, Fr. Michael Sorial discussed how our union with God informs our lifestyle, which results in our soul being called "Mary."
Give Birth to Christ in Your Life
    - St. Augustine (Sermon 181:4) (d430)(Every Christian) conceives God in his heart.
    - St. Ambrose, De Virginitate 4:20, PL 16:271 (d.397) When the soul then begins to turn to Christ, she is addressed as “Mary”; that is, she receives the name of the woman who bore Christ in her womb; for she has become a soul who, in a spiritual sense, gives birth to Christ.
    - St. Jerome(Epist. to Eustochium 22:8) (d.420) Like the blessed Mary, who was of such purity that she deserved to be the Mother of God, you too can be a mother of the Lord.
    - St. Ambrose, Com. on Luke 10:25 Watch that you do the will of the Father, so that you may be the Mother of Christ.
    - Pope Gregory (the Great), Hom 3 on the Gospels (604AD) He is above all the Mother of Christ, who preaches the truth; for he gives birth to our Lord, who brings Him into the hearts of his hearers. And he is the Mother of Christ, who through his words inspires a love of our Lord in the spirit of his neighbor.

Please check out the communion prayer of St. Philoxenus of Mabbug. You will love the prayer and will want to pray it every liturgy. It connects the Eucharist with the birthgiving of Christ :)
