- First of all sorry for the background noise. A small features video on the 20mm airgun. Got some of the materials wrong, main body and trigger housing are made from 6068T6 if it interests someone.
Specs: 20mm Madsen auto cannon barrel, stainless 300bar airtube, 20mm balanced valve, Bold mauser 98 trigger, crmo receiver and bolt locking lugs. Vortex Viper scope
Projectile weight from 20gram sabots to 185gram lead bullets
Muzzle energy 4215J measured with Labradar ballistic radar.
WOW, first I thought it was smaller, but when you said the dimensions of everything I realized how big and heavy it really is. What a Monster!
Dodo 225 Yes it is big, and the reason is the Madsen barrel, I didnt want to cut it any shorter. And the weight is a good thing, helps to manage recoil.
I walked into the machine shop, showed the video and will soon embark on one of my own. Thankyou for the inspiration 👍👍👍
J K Nice, just be sure to make the proper structural calculations and material selections. High pressure air will kill you if you mess up on material properties or calculations.
@@MJPilote absolutely! this is not something I’m going to tackle solo. The company I work for is a full blown fabrication shop. We do a lot of pressure vessels among other things.
The horrible part is everyone wanted to scale up a semi auto airgun I have 🤦♂️ though the thought is fun I’ll stick to a single shot for now.
“If” we actually do a semi auto I’ll let you know if it actually works👍
That thing is an absolute monster. Got my sub.
This is badass! Plain and simply badass! Great work brother!
I really love this. Really cool. Glad I subscribed and got to see this. Nice machining and good ideas for the locking lugs. This video was very inspiring to me, and now I have something to dream about!
Eric Petty Thank you for your kind words, glad you like it.
Awesome work!
What an absolute beauty!
Thank you!
Great creativity and talent (and guts)! I may have missed something, but do you cast your own bullets? Keep it up... PCP is awesome power!!
Thanks for the kind words, and there is a short bullet casting video on the channel. It's in Finnish but you get the general idea of it.
Thanks for all the details
Incredible machining. I’m assuming you’re Finnish by your accent? Are there no legal restrictions on building air rifles this large? Just curious! Love this build a lot
Steel&Cider - This was made before the EU gun sanctions made life difficult. It is tied to my firearms license. Making one now will require a personal manufacturing license for a gun, but you need to convince the authorities of your need for the gun to get the permit. And yes Finnish rally English.
MJPilote Thanks for answering my question, and I’m sorry you can’t build any more of these because of the restrictions. You are right in that Finns rally anglophones, I think you guys have something special going on that interests us lol
gsxtr1 Well if you have ever watched WRC rally or F1 and listened how the Finnish rally and formula drivers speak, you'll know what it is. That's rally English aka bad English with Finnish accents
@@MJPilote I know this is a bit ot. But i love the build. Live in DK atm, born in Tampere. And i do know how to Google the Gun. Is there anyway to build and shoot it, in club setting 🤔
Stay safe 😷👋🏻
@@MJPilote Is there an option to contact you? I wish i could build one for me. Stay safe :)
Now I'm not sure of the legality of it, but this in a little homemade tank would be perfect
May I recommend making a magazine for the gun. I am also thinking you can make some brass or steel cartridges that can hold compressed air or some other gas and then the bullet itself.
Todella erinomainen! Terveisiä Virosta!
Kiitos!
amazing
Amazing!
Congratulations! Awesome build man!
I am happy to see the most powerful one being a homemade one :D
This also makes me more motivated to somehow build a decent one. Not so big and powerful as this one, but a decent one. Curious to see what can I do without special tools or materials. Cheers!
Thanks, and a word of warning. Please be careful with high pressure air. Choose your materials carefully and do your math. You need a proper safety margin to yield on everything that sees pressure. 2.5-3:1 safety to yield. So your design should hold 2.5 times the working pressure without yielding. Then you know it's safe. And hydro test everything to at least double the working pressure. If it yields then start over with different materials.
fantastic 👍
Ihan sikahieno!!
😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wowsers
If you made this you need to start your own company. Whoever made this is one badass mf. I wish I could make something half as awesome. I'm just absolutely blown away. I'd love to see the maker make a pistol
Nice work M! If you ever get over to the states we will go deer hunting, hog or Moose(?). There isn't anything bigger except at the zoo and that is frowned upon.
Man, that made my day! I can imagine the faces at the zoo arriving at the gate with a very big rifle. Where's the elephant at?
!!!! SO COOL
Now that’s a mans air rifle
It would be interesting to see the velocities of smaller diameter projectiles shot from that gun using sabots.
We have shot some 500-600gr .50 bullets with sabbots. Velocities are in 450-520m/s range. 600gr spizer was clocking 490m/s on the Labradar.
@@MJPilote you were getting 1470fps? That is very impressive for a air rifle. Too bad it is so expensive. My 357 Magnum rifle is cheaper, faster, and hits way harder, but way louder
@@FUW-guy Your "My 357 Magnum rifle is cheaper, faster, and hits way harder" bla bla bla does not hit way harder. This gentlemans Air gun does 3108 fpe. Your 357 has a higher fps muzzle velocity, but not fpe foot pounds of energy. I checked the ballistics for a 357 magnum rifle not even close to what this Air Rifle does for fpe. A gun that has more foot pounds of energy "fpe" means it is going to do more damage. You know like hit harder.
Take my money. I want 2 $$$$
I want to make an air powered field gun now, like 76mm.
Any more detail on the valve and triggering design? Thanks for sharing. Nice looking design.
jafinch78 valve is basically a hammer actuated poppet valve that has a balancing piston to reduce hammer mass. K mauser trigger releases the spring powered hammer. Very simple design. There is some video on my channel how the balancing valve functions on a smaller gun.
@@MJPilote OK, I'll take a look. Thanks for the reply and detail. Interesting studying the pneumatics of these designs now that I have a pressure washer for some testing purposes of other designs.
4215J on kyllä todella turpea lukema! Kaikenkaikkiaan hieno tuote!
Kiitos, ja lisää tavoitellaan kunhan isompi säiliö ja venttiili valmistuu.
For those nuisance elephants?
thoughtlesskills Exactly!
How much would you charge to make something like this? Because holy crap that's cool.
SnowblindOtter Thank you for the compliment! And unfortunately I can't make one for sale, for that I would need to be a certified gunsmith. And the price would be very high, the barrel alone is a very difficult to find as a civilian.
@@MJPilote Well, if you _were_ to sell it, considering the cost of materials and the labor you put into it, how much do you think you'd put it for? I'm mostly just curious to know how much it cost you to make it, because you clearly put a lot of effort into it.
SnowblindOtter Well I think I would not even start to think about selling one for less than 5k€ but realistically considering the work involved in development I would need to put the price around 10k for a unique one of a kind build.
Very very nice idol
Me passa as medidas da válvula de disparo
a great project. Would it be possible to get the plans for it. Greetings from Germany
Little House of Horrors Thanks, a lot of engineering and testing went in to making the gun. I can't give the blueprints for possible legal issues that could arise for misuse or possible scenarios that come from use of wrong or unsuited materials.
Nice Air Rifle! mrhollowpoint makes 20mm slugs in 640 grain, 960 grain, 1150 grain, 1588 grain, and 1750 grain not as heavy as the 185 grams= 2854 grains you are using. I thought the 1750 grain slug mrhollowpoint makes was heavy but 2854 grain wow.
I WANT ONE!
Minha paixão um canhão desses amigo ele é raiado o cano. Brasil brasil
Yes it is rifled. Thanks for watching!
Класс! Очень хочется увидеть испытания!
Cпаси́бо!
spectacular work. im buying a lathe i want to make one!!
True Scotsman Go for it, it is very rewarding when you get it done and shooting for the first time!
Please update for Price 👍🏻dear it's an awesome 😍 one work lovely Classic ❤️
Gostei muito dela.teria como me ajudar a fazer uma?
how much squirls have you hunted with it?
Yes 😁
Is the barrel rifled?
Miklós Piti Yes, it is rifled barrel from madsen auto cannon, anti aircraft machinegun.
Hello, are you waiting for aliens to arrive? Nice beast, now you need to make an auto indexing magazine for it.
Thanks, magazine would be nice but for the use this is made for doesn't need it. It's built purely for fun.
Gel block test?
.40 S&W Fan Would love to test that but would need a ton and it's expensive.
What is the tube on the bottom
I’mActually RealWolfcs It is the air reservoir.
Beautiful rifle, should be good for rabbit hunting.
How milimeter the steel you can pierced by it
With tungsten penetrator inside the bullet we have pierced 8mm mild steel plate.
@@MJPilote thank you
Where to get this monster, mass produce this beauty
Unfortunately I can't. EU gun laws and local gun laws prohibit that. Need to he certified gunsmith to manufacture big bore airguns in Finland, and that takes 4 years of studying. So no mass production for this one.
Do you selling those airguns. We’re to buy
Sorry for the late response, unfortunately due to the current gun laws here, I can't make any airguns for sale as I'm not a certified gunsmith.
Number 1 question I'm sure any Air Gunner would ask is, when does it go into production so that I may get in on the fun...? I would love to take this beast on a bear hunting expedition..
Sorry for the late reply, have not gotten any notifications for what ever reason.
I cant do a production run as I dont have a gunsmiths license. was thinking about selling the cad files but that remains to be seen.
😁👍☝️💪
Thats an anti material cannon
How to buy one give me a price plz
No way to get one, its not for sale. Current ridiculous offer is around 10k and I won't sell. Can't get a new one so not for sale.
Are you from Finland?
Yes
@@MJPilote what are the Laws surrounding air guns in Finland?
WilliamTheGunNut All airguns larger than .25 or 6.35mm requires either a license or if the owner has firearms license no other licenses are needed. Only mandatory registration for big bore air guns.
@@MJPilote aaa ok. So you can have a 25 cal full power airgun without a license if I understand correctly?
@@williamthegunnut3839 Yes, we have no power limits on small bore airguns. The lucky shot .223 featured on another video is license free and has around 200J of muzzle energy.
That nice of a gun and machine work and you didnt deburr the slot!?! Fantastic work otherwise.
Well it had a small chamfer but cocking the gun rises some burr to the slot. Need to do a bigger chamfer for it.
😝😝😝😝
How much
dewayne martin it's one of a kind and not for sale. Local laws don't allow me to make anything over .25 caliber and sell it. Everything bigger and its tied to my firearms license and I need a private building license to make them. Need to be certified gunsmith to make anything bigger for sale.
It's a cannon
for sale or home made and yes this is BAD F'N ASS
Home made, barrel, trigger and pistol grip are bought items. Rest of it is machined from bar stock.
Kyllähän tolla tankin pysäyttäisi
Perttu Peuhkuri Varmaan jonkun ihan piänen.
If you come for the firing test, please leave.. There is no such thing
Too heavy
No not really. Would not want it to be any lighter.
Who makes it.I can't find it for sale anywhere.Just videos of it and reddit threads
did you build this gun ?
Yes
Awesome work!
Thank you!
