How to build a solid lightweight and high wooden car ramp, with shelves for tools

- Sometimes however you might need easier access to the under body with more room to maneuver. When you are changing oil, perform service or working on exhaust, skid plates or control arms etc. you could use ramps to drive on top of, to get more room under your vehicle. Using ramps is easier and quicker that jacking up the entire vehicle and setting up four jack stands.
There are several options available if you decide to purchase car ramps, many made of plastic, and some is expensive, some shipping is more expensive than the ramp self.
After considering all the pros and cons, I decided that I would rather make my own ramps and make them out of material that will definitely support the weight of my vehicle - wood, In addition, custom build them to fit my car and the height that I prefer and cost less money. In addition, I do not have place inside to store them when they are not being used, and impregnated wood can stay out many years with now problem.
Building your own set of DIY wooden car ramps is a very easy project. If you have all the materials and tools ready, it should take less than a couple hours to complete all tow ramps.

Автор молодец. Самый удачный деревянный вариант из всех просмотренных. Расейские вообще какая-то муть. Сделал по указанным размерам, доски взял толщиной 25 мм и шириной 100 и 150 мм, общая ширина 250 мм, вполне достаточно, количество промежуточных опор из доски 50х100 мм увеличил вверху до 5-и, внизу до 6-и, и ещё две опоры под наклонной доской в промежутках. Размеры определены идеально, угол наклона доски позволяет заезжать и съезжать без касания о неё передним бампером даже Матизу 0.8. А у него очень маленькие колёса. Общая высота эстакады 270 мм, вполне себе приемлемо, под машиной можно свободно работать. Дёшево и сердито.
Ещё можно в гараже подвесить и использовать как полки)
Скажите есть размеры данной эстакады.
Installed wheels. Carries them lol great job. Honestly? I'd install more uprights. Any gap could be a mishap. Even bidirectional. It simply means they can not collapse.

Might want to substitute 4x4s instead of the 2x4s less likely to rack on you.
It shouldn't rack with the triangulation, IF he screwed the acute angle together at the ramp entrance, which I didn't see him do, but maybe I missed it.

В России за 70$ сделают из металла😅. А так не плохо, своими руками. Если бы ещё выложили схему с размерами, то было бы ещё лучше. И нужно обязательно покрасить или покрыть лаком.

A slight improvement would be to use threaded bar instead of screws if you have some.
Looks like a house of cards. Hopefully there’s enough material there if it were to collapse to keep the vehicle from coming all the way down on you.
I was thinking same thing. If nothing else at least some 2x4's down the middle to provide longitude support.

You should drill 4 hole for 4 screw for each lumber, i did it later when i install the lumbers.
And if your wood is impregnated maby you do not need drill holes at all.
As i did not drill hole for the 2 other screws on the lumber. The bolt goes through without cracking the wood.
Kann man die auch auf eine Höhe von 450mm bauen? Wäre angenehmer unterm Auto zu arbeiten. Und wie sieht es aus das man hinten auch noch mit hoch kommt?

This is something I can build,my dilemma is,for $70 I can buy metal ramps and avoid the labor of building these heavy ramps.The prices of everything now days including lumber makes these practical projects,impractical.I had build my wooden ramps as a teenager to service my 68 GTO in 1968,I wish I had them now.

Yes of course, the wood is paintable, but this wood is impregnated which means is waterproof and tolerate a lot of weight 👌 its up to you than
