Select bottles of any size or shape and carefully pour one layer of sand at a time into your bottle, In order to create a diagonal layer, hold your bottle or jar at an angle and slowly pour in the layers after that put a thin layer of glue around the inside edge of the bottle or jar and the bottle cap, then screw it or snap it on tightly and wipe off any glue that squeezes out. The options for color and design are endless.

It is real sand, Regards.
+Jason Gomez food dye, chalk , tie dye dye and if u do this at home it easyer to use salt because its hard to find wight sand at stores

ashton bierman I've tried food dye and the color fades when dried. Chalk leaves a powder residue and when the project is complete sealing it with water and glue the sand bleeds with the other colors. Tie dye also gets lighter as the sand dries. The only thing that works is mixing sand with acrylic paint water and dish soap. It also depends on what type of sand u use ex. beach sand clay sand or any other type. Also u can use spray paint. It works very well and the sand really sticks to the color and never fades. I'm sure there are other ways to do this technique but I have no idea how this sand artist colors his sand. I would love to have the vibrant colors he does.
