there are honesty a few places you can go from here in your rock journey:
    • Schlagenheim by black midi
This is their debut album and is quite different from Cavalcade. It’s more math rock and noise rock, but it still has a lot of technical talent mixed with emotional potency in the songs.
    • Bright Green Field by Squid
Squid joins Black Country, New Road and Black Midi in the holy trinity of this new wave of rock in the windmill scene. Bright Green Field is their debut album and its a very engaging experience.
    • Twin Fantasy by Car Seat Headrest
This band has nothing to do with the new british bands going on right now, but this album is a landmark in indie rock. It’s such a youthful and exciting listen that will leave you equally excited and depressed. Honestly can’t recommend this album enough.
Hope this list helps! If anyone wants to add any more recommendations under this comment, feel free to do so 🤍

I think aside from them coming from the same scene, Black Midi and Black Country, New Road both make music that's very obviously (even on first listen) incredibly technically impressive music, but their songwriting and vocals can be more of an acquired taste.
Black Midi definitely took me longer to get into though, largely because Isaac writes and sings in a very emotionally bare way that's easier to connect with, whereas here Geordie is largely goofing off, crooning and doing goofy voices. Highly recommend watching their KEXP performance, one of the best performances I've ever seen. And I agree, Morgan Simpson (the drummer) is absolutely astounding, probably the member I end up paying the most attention to.
Oh yeah and please do Car Seat Headrest's Twin Fantasy, you'd love that!

Geordie definitely has a lot of fun and goes into different characters but I wouldn’t write it off as just goofing off. It’s obviously REALLY different from Isaac’s style, but I find there’s a lot of charm in Geordie’s storytelling and weird worlds that are unique for every song. At least on this album, Schlagenheim is more just fucking around lol

Listen to Squid as well. I saw them live late last year and they're honestly maybe the best live act I've ever seen (up there with Muse live although different type of music). Saw Black Midi live as well but Squid clinched it for me. I'd recommend starting with their Town Center EP though. They've been compared a little bit to LCD Soundsystem but a lot more punk energy and more energetic. Arguably my favourite of the BCNR, Black Midi, Squid post punk British trinity at the moment just cause of their dancability although really depends on my mood which of them I prefer.

I'd love to see you become acquainted with Richard Dawson and I think his album "2020" would be the best place to start. Incredible storytelling songwriter, creating modern fables with his extraordinary voice and unique playing style. Once heard, never forgotten.

I think Squid's debut Bright Green Field would be a great next album to check out. It continues with the same meld of post-punk and experimental rock with their own unique spin. In my eyes it was one of 2021's best albums and better than both Cavalcade and For the First Time.

Would love to see you check out their debut Schlagenheim, absolutely insane record. Bright Green Field by Squid is also a worthy album to checkout as well. However my pick would have to be Swans. Definitely a more experimental band, who have existed since the 80's, but have gone through multiple member lineups and soundscapes. The trilogy of The Seer, To Be Kind, and The Glowing Man, is one of the most insane music listening experiences I've ever had. Heartily recommend, only if you can stomach the 2 hour album lengths.

You’ve got to listen to deathcrash!! Their new album came out earlier this year and they’re roughly associated with the BM/BCNR scene. Honestly such a stunning record I think you’d enjoy it

Here we go. Schlagenheim needs to happen now - probably would've been better to go Schlagenheim into Cavalcade but I'm not complaining. As for suggestion, let's just go with a real heavy hitter off rip: Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F♯ A♯ ∞ , the debut rom '97, followed by Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven from 2000. Two masterpiece albums back to back, honestly two of the greatest musical expressions of the last 50 years. They came out the gates fully-formed.

It would be a great idea to dive into Black Midi's first album Schlagenheim now that you've heard this. It is much more stripped back and aggressive but still just as impactful IMO.
They also have a new album called Hellfire that is releasing on July 15 which will be a great reaction I'm sure.
EDIT: I would also love to see some classic rock reactions like Aja by Steely Dan or Remain In Light by Talking Heads if you've yet to hear them.

Just watched your reactions to 'For The First Time' and 'Cavalcade', they're quite cool! These two albums were a lifesaver for me in 2021. It's 2023, and I still can't get enough of them.
I think listening to King Crimson, Don Caballero and Godspeed You! Black Emperor prepares you to listen to this beautiful gem by black midi.
If you're reacting to these stunning albums by black midi and Black Country, New Road, I think you outta react to a masterpiece that paved the way for this trend 10 years before.
I'm meaning 'Hidden', the other wordly sophomore album by These New Puritans that took art rock to another level.

I'd love to see you react to "Sinner Get Ready" by Lingua Ignota if you could. It's a pretty horrifying listen but it's also very beautiful. I'd recommend having a little look at the context of the album before going in to get the most out of it
