  • Tribute video featuring Charlie Chaplin and his second wife Lita Grey. Lita appeared in Chaplin's great film "THE KID" as the "flirting angel" at the age of 12 in 1921. At age 15, Chaplin cast her as his leading lady for the film "THE GOLD RUSH" set to start filming in early 1924 in Truckee, California. They had an affair and she suspected she had become pregnant by the then-thirty-five-year-old Chaplin. After turning 16, Lita and Chaplin, then 35, married in Empalme, Sonora, Mexico on November 25, 1924. Lita bore Chaplin two sons, Charlie, Jr. and Sydney. Lita and Chaplin divorced August 22, 1927 in a messy divorce. Most Chaplin fans literally hate Lita, feeling she was a gold digger and was out for Chaplin's money from the get go. I on the other hand, believe Lita was just a young, 15 year old teenager who was enamored with "the most famous man in the world". She was 15 when the affair started, he was 34. He was coming off a engagement to Pola Negri, Lita was in high school. Your thoughts may vary....enjoy the video!

Great video love this. Also, if any of you get the chance to read her book it's definitely recommended - "Wife of the life of the party" it's a very good insightful book into their lives.👌😄

Chaplin divorced wife Lita Grey in 1927 in acrimonious proceedings. He paid her a record settlement of $825,000, and the legal costs of the divorce came to nearly $1 million

Everybody blames Charlie for liking younger girls. Lita''s mother doesn't look very concerned. I love Charlie but I don't think Lita is that pretty.

Great photos. To respond to your questions. She was young and attractive. Charlie liked women, and may have been impulsive with the opposite sex. He was what we would call these days, “wired.” He worked harder than anyone else on his films. That drive might have continued into his personal life.
