    Commenters have asked why I used the same oil in the engine and transmission. I followed Honda's recommendation in the service manual for JASO MA 10w40. This is recommended for both the engine and transmission in the Honda service manual. The purpose of this video is to demonstrate the process. If you prefer a different oil from what's recommended that's your decision.

Unfortunately, I have a hairline crack in the crankcase cover, so I'm going to need to repair and change oil. Will also get a skid plate to hopefully prevent in the future. How often do you change the oil and transmission oil?

      The engine oil level has a dipstick attached to the cap. With the bike level, remove the oil fill cap, wipe the dipstick clean, reinsert (without screwing it in), remove and verify the oil level is between the two marks.

    • @DirtBikingwithDonnie
      @DirtBikingwithDonnie  Před 3 lety +1

      There are endless opinions online about what oil to run for this or that. I typically just stick with what's recommended by the manufacturer. For this bike the manual says 10w 40, API classification SG or higher, JASO MA. Honda GN4 is recommended for the engine and transmission in the manual but the manual also states some other options for the trans. I highly recommend following the manual over online opinions.
